Victor Oladipo will not accompany the Heat on their four-game West Coast trip, the team’s PR department tweets. He’ll undergo further evaluation in Miami.
Oladipo suffered a right knee injury against the Lakers on Thursday. He was enjoying his best game with Miami prior to the injury, posting 18 points, four rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes.
A long-term issue with Oladipo would severely hamper Miami’s attempt to make another deep playoff run. In the short term, Kendrick Nunn would seemingly re-enter the picture after losing his rotation spot and getting benched in the aftermath of the Oladipo deadline trade with Houston.
Another major injury to Oladipo, who admitted last weekend that he still hasn’t fully recovered from his serious leg injury in 2019, would naturally impact his bargaining power in unrestricted free agency this summer.
Dunked too hard.
Welp, that was fun while it lasted…
On the bright side, hopefully this means Herro will be back in the starting lineup where he belongs.
Kendrick Nunn 1000% starts over him, or even Dragic or Vincent. Herro should have been traded for Lowry
He finally said it “still recovering” . I’ve been saying it all yr. Unfortunately it’s the same right knee. Wishing him the best. Have to get him right for playoffs. Even if it’s at reduced role. Bad news for Heat
It doesn’t look good for him or the Heat, although the fact that he’s not under contract after the season may end up working in their favor.
The Rockets did get at least one good player in the trade, maybe even two if Bradley can prove worthy of his $5.9M option this summer.
Plus they will be able to swap the Nets first round pick they receive in 2022 for the Heat’s which could be considerably higher in the draft.
Didn’t know that. Yes Heat pick should be a better pick. That was part of Dipo trade, nice.
Al nobody has ever thought Dipo was fully recovered. Not HR, not posting, not in the league. Only you think you have anything to brag about, keeping us posted on his reduction.
Maybe you were just jabbing Wallywood with Dipo disses… a noble effort, but robohouston is not going to care anymore since the trade.
Another leg injury is not good
But idk how much it will affect the Heat’s chances. Idk how much they were really expecting out of Oladipo given his recent injury history and performance output.
If Butler and Bam stay healthy and Herro can regain his playoff form they’ll have a shot as a dark horse
The Heat not updating what the situation really is a really bad sign. I’ve seen people say they’ve heard their (the Heat’s) reaction last night and this morning was that it’s really bad. Best case, it might be a few weeks, and worst case, he is at least out for the season. This could mean jumpers knee. That can sometimes take 2-4 weeks, or if it’s bad enough could require a procedure and at least 6-8 weeks, which would already be pretty much through the 1st round of the playoffs, which would be the rest of the season. If it’s worse than that…that’s obviously GG for this year, and who knows moving forward….
The 1 time they’re even somewhat relatively healthy, they get to the finals, and lose their 3 best players with a 15 point lead in game 1 lol. Cant even go 1 year with relative health. Cant even go a single game in several years with the full roster available. Always have something happen the day after several people sign, or right after the trade deadline. Literally a day after they say they dont need a wing player.
I thought he landed weird when he posterized Drummond. It looked like Drummond hip checked him mid air, and he landed awkwardly on his leg, making me remember my own injuries, and some others we’ve recently seen, but that was his other leg, so it wasnt that, unless that caused him to compensate, and put a strain on his already weaker leg. Honestly, he was looking really good for them, so it’s hard for me to say they should have done something else, but it’s just frustrating to see something like this happen to them again. Trade for Dragic, Bosh gets blood clots the next day…I just hope he’ll be ok, b/c this dude deserves to be able to do what he loves to do, and you never want to see anyone go down, and you especially never want to see a guy with so much talent deal with this type of stuff.
For the team, now they’re essentially left with what they had, minus Olynyk, and 3 other defenders, although those guys didnt play much for them. Olynyk was incredible during the playoffs last year, so that’s obviously a loss. Now after adding Dedmon, they cant even sign a 15th guy for another 10 days, and a couple of decent options that could have been useful are gone, so we’ll see where that goes. Hopefully, they get some kind of luck, but they pretty much have to rely on something more from 1 of their guards, Duncan Robinson, KZ Okpala, or even Jimmy Butler himself, as much as he does already…
Not sure if it would have mattered against Philly anyway
There was nobody around him on the play…..idk where you got a Drummond shove or posterize from for that matter???…this was pretty much a non contact inj which makes it all the more scarier
I wasnt talking about the play he left on. I was just saying that on the one a bit before, I originally thought he got hurt, but that was his other leg, so it’s probably not connected…
So much for Miami fleecing the Rockets in that trade.
Bradley hadnt played pretty much all year b/c of covid and injuries. They pretty much only gave up Olynyk’s bird rights…the swap doesnt really matter
If Nets go to Finals, as most are predicting (not me). That’s picking 29-30. Heat lose in 1st rd that’s 16-18. I’d say it matters a Whole lot. 5 spots is a lot for those who now how to scout. Rockets better draft right. Cause this is the yr to be right.
It’s not for this year…
On the flip side…the guys whom the heat traded for Oladipo were both healthy (Olynyx & Avery)
Bradley wasn’t while he was here, and then magically is ready after the trade
