Asked on Monday about James Wiseman‘s status, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the team was still getting “multiple opinions” on the rookie’s right knee injury. Reports on Sunday suggested Wiseman may miss the rest of the season due to a torn meniscus, but Kerr suggested last night that no decisions have been made yet.
“He had an MRI and so we’re having multiple experts look at the MRI to determine what’s next,” Kerr said, per Nick Friedell of ESPN. “We don’t have any timetable yet. The biggest thing is making sure James is OK. He’s obviously had a lot of adversity this rookie season, with the wrist injury, now the knee injury and of course missing training camp, not having a summer league. He’s really gutted through a lot of difficulty. … And so this is yet another obstacle that’s been put in front of him.”
Here are a few more notes on the Warriors:
- Kevon Looney will replace Wiseman in Golden State’s lineup, and Kerr acknowledged on Monday that the team will consider adding another center to its roster before the end of the season, Friedell writes. “We’re obviously very thin in the frontcourt,” Kerr said. “That’s obviously something that we will be looking at as we go forward and once we get word on what James’ prognosis is.” The Warriors currently have one open spot on their 15-man roster and could create a second if they don’t re-sign Gary Payton II when his 10-day deal expires.
- Within the same ESPN story, Friedell notes that Kelly Oubre remains day-to-day with the wrist injury that sidelined him on Saturday and Monday. “I talked to him (on Monday), he said he’s feeling better,” Kerr said. “So I don’t think this will be a long absence, but we’ll just continue to say day-to-day.”
- Stephen Curry passed Wilt Chamberlain on Monday night to become the all-time leading scorer in Warriors history. With that in mind, Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic explores what Curry and Chamberlain have meant to the Warriors and how both stars changed the game of basketball.
Cue Marty long winded warriors take
Steph better.
You should have said “Cue harden-westbrook-oladipo-wall-wood prattling on about the GSW billionaire owner paying “too much” in taxes, after said owner said he will never care about paying too much taxes”
Mind blowing how literally no one on the internet cares about this outside of him.
Just couldn’t help yourself lol
NEVER :)
I have sat a few posts out here and there though…depends on how well GSW are doing tbh, can’t complain when winning all the time
Perhaps nobody else is trolling that day.
Curry and Wilt the only 2 players to have changed the game in the way that the rest of the league changed who they were at their core to adapt and use the styles Wilt and Curry played, both of which were unparalleled at the time.
Ummmm…where to start…Dr. J, oscar Robertson, showtime lakers, bad boy pistons, Michael Jordan, Mike D’Antoni and Steve Nash, some cat named LeBron James, Giannis, the world exists outside of San Fran. Most sports involve copycat reactions. When someone comes in with a fresh idea that is successful, it is probably going to be imitated.
None of those players changed the game, they were all the best at playing the game as the league determined it. Lebron didnt start shooting 3’s until Steph came along. MJ is the best I’ve ever seen but I never saw the rest of the league playing like him. See the difference yet?
They did change the game. The Pistons were the precursor to the physical style of play in the 90s. Nash and the “7 seconds or less” pretty much was the prototype for the current game. Shaq and Duncan played a big role in the handcheck rule being removed. Dr. J started a wave of high flying dunking players. It’s not an insult to say your favorite team the Warriors are responsible for only two of the most innovative players in NBA history.
MJ changed how scoring would be done by guards driving not frontline players.
Curry just shot from farther away. If not Curry, than by Lilliard a few years later, or Harden on the checkstep.
Of course it does no good informing of anything. It’ s like waking up a sleepwalker… better off just letting him go with his make-believe world.
Good grief. Chamberlain is associated with Philly and LA and Kansas. He might as well have never been moved with the team to SF for all the importance that was.
James was shooting 3s from the getgo, just not with a high %. Nearly always a 3, a floating forward. Never a 4 until lately sometimes and never drove into a defense as much as fans wanted. What delusion… Marty thinks he is one of the smart ones… Curry had nothing to do with Lebron shooting 3s… he is already out there on the line.
Mike who? Are you kidding? He’s the classic example of the importance of defense. He’s perhaps the quintessential loser in history. If you don’t believe it ask Steve Snatch
I actually agree with you on this but still fail to see the point in the post ….
Did you just need a Vitamin C (urry) boast today ?
Warriors only have 2 healthy players Standing taller than 6-foot-7 ( Looney & Smailagic ). They should have Signed someone after Marquese Chriss broke his Leg months ago.
Good news is there are still some quality Big Men on the Market.
For rebounding and defense, I like Tyler Zeller, Willie Reed, Justin Patton, and Brandon McCoy.
For shot-blocking, I like Sagaba Konate, Amida Brimah and Deyonta Davis.
For stretch-5 scoring, I like Thon Maker.
Either Sign someone now or else transfer the Team to a 6-foot-7 and Under League, because in the Playoffs, the current smallish Frontcourt can’t compete and will get destroyed. We have to find more SIZE to guard Zion, AD, Montrezl, Jokic, etc.
GM Myers – stop waiting for the next Injury to occur before you take action.
I agree with most of those guys, but Myers is more likely to be on the phone with Bogut and Zaza begging them to come out of retirement than he is to make a proactive move.
None the players you mentioned are any good. Why do you keep posting this stuff?
Would love to read your Ideas for Fixing the Warriors’ front-court weaknesses, or are you only good at trashing other people’s suggestions without offering up your own?
My suggestion to their problem was Signing someone TALLER than the players we already have the Roster.
All they have to do is stand there, take up space, lift their arms up, and prevent easy Layups and grab an occasional Rebound. Use up their 6 Fouls. Provide more of an impediment than a smaller player trying to guard those Giants.
Just because you are 7 feet tall doesn’t mean you have the skills to play professional basketball. Some the guys you mentioned aren’t 7 feet. Some are under contract to other teams. Some haven’t played basketball in 2 years. What good would they be. They need a player that can actually play. Not some schmutz from off the street.
Thanks for posting your thoughts. I’m thinking in terms of keeping Draymond out of Foul trouble and letting him focus on Facilitating and distributing the ball. Looney is flat out not athletic enough to guard those elite Big Men in the WC. JTA is too short and Smailagic is simply not ready for NBA Minutes.
Signing a 7 Foot stiff at least allows us to put a better road block out there than asking a smaller player to try and guard those guys. Might as well make our opponent work harder to score their points.
Think of the Jazz approach to slow down Shaq with Greg Ostertag at Center in the playoffs a generation ago. Or Aron Baynes slowing down Joel Embiid a few playoff seasons ago. It’s the “ goon “ role.
Seriously. Greg Ostertag played more minutes, and has better stays than any player than you talk about.
Hoops Rumors, please link the GSW going after Kawhi story, as reported by Evan Massey :)
Evan Massey also reported Curry is looking to join up with LeBron in LA. He says whatever whenever.
Do you think Lebron and Steph might team up in GSW though? I think it’s possible, Lebron isn’t exactly known for sticking to one team.
After how well you guys embraced Durant???
Haha, you dont know LeBron too well do ya !
Please dont defect if he ever dawns Purple and Gold, we have enough crazies already in the building
They embraced KD just fine.
Reported? Whoever this person is, obviously some casual fan with zero understanding of the salary cap and not an actual “reporter”, he sounds like another Warriors fan with delusions of grandeur not unlike yourself. I’d be fascinated to see how he expects Golden State to add a player as talented, and therefore as expensive, as Kawhi Leonard without breaking up the team to accommodate him.
Nah, he sounds more like a Rockets fan.
Evan Massey who?
We’re obviously very thin in the frontcourt,” Kerr said. “
Wow what Insight…. they have been thin since Chriss went down. Actually like the way he was looking this yr, too bad. Curry has a career 24 pts a game. Wilt avg that in a QT. Only thing he changed is his signature sneaker. Wasn’t for KD he’d only have 1 ring.
Good one Al. I’ll go one better. If it wasn’t for Curry KD would have ZERO rings. ZERO. You know what else is ZERO. Knicks titles in last 42 years and counting. Now THAT’S gotta hurt.
Oops, 47 years. Approaching 50
