Rookie center James Wiseman will have an MRI on his right knee, but the Warriors don’t believe his latest injury is a long-term one, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Wiseman hurt the knee on a dunk attempt in Saturday’s game against the Rockets. He grimaced in pain and tried to stay in the game, but was taken to the locker room to be evaluated.
Slater cites a “low level of concern” in the organization that it’s serious enough to keep Wiseman out for the rest of the season.
“Hopefully he doesn’t miss too much time,” Stephen Curry said. “It seems like when he takes a couple strides, he gets dealt a little adversity, so it’s kinda tough.”
“I asked him if he was straight,” Jordan Poole said. “He said he was all right. He’s tough. He’ll be all right.”
Wiseman had been playing well on the current homestand, with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the first half Tuesday against the Bucks, followed by an 18-point performance Friday against the Wizards. His rookie season has already been interrupted by a wrist injury in January that kept him out for 11 games. If Wiseman is sidelined again, coach Steve Kerr plans to start Kevon Looney at center and give Draymond Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson some minutes in the middle.
There’s more on the Warriors:
- Kelly Oubre missed Saturday’s game with a sprained left wrist, but Kerr told reporters it doesn’t appear to be serious, Slater adds. Oubre also got hurt on a dunk attempt, landing on the wrist after colliding Friday with Washington center Robin Lopez. Kerr considers him day to day. With Oubre headed toward free agency this summer, Sean Deveney of Heavy looks at his potential value and says the Warriors would prefer to re-sign him.
- With limited resources to improve this offseason, Golden State’s best option may be to hope the Wizards decide to trade Bradley Beal, writes David Aldridge of The Athletic. If Washington decides to hold onto Beal, Aldridge suggests Pacers center Myles Turner or Pelicans center Steven Adams as alternatives.
- Slater and Sam Vecenie of The Athletic take an early look at the Warriors’ draft options, depending on where their picks land. The Timberwolves’ selection will convey to Golden State if it falls outside the top three.
James Wasteman
Steven Adams? Idk about all that
GSW should be praying Beal will be available and frankly so should Washington fans. Beal is their only piece that will get draft assets back at this point — getting Wiseman and the Minny pick would be a pretty good start to a rebuild
The team has been no good with Beal for 2-3 years now. How much longer are they going to wait? Until Beal is an impending free agent and he has minimal value left?
What happened with everyone saying before the season how the Wizards were supposed to be a lock to make the playoffs after getting Westbrick? Now they’re stuck with Russ and are trying desperately to hold onto Beal in the hopes that they can still salvage a chance at being a playoff team instead of getting their usual lottery pick year after year.
Funny how he was your hero before he got traded and now he’s Westbrick. You continue to comment, bashing every other team especially the Lakers and although you come up with valid points (very rarely) you have zero credibility in these threads. I would use the block feature on you if I didn’t find 99% of your tales so amusing
Harden was my only hero, do you see me bashing him? I’ve said it time after time here how my feelings about Russ this season are exactly the same as they were when he played for OKC, apparently I have to repeat myself again. So according to you I have zero credibility because I was rooting for a player that I previously hated just because he played one season with my favorite team? I must be the only person in history to ever do that, huh?
You have zero credibility because your takes are hot garbage…I’m a die hard Lakers fan but I can still keep that in perspective when commenting on things not pertaining to the Lakers…you blindly spew nonsense about other franchises that clearly outshine your Rockets (not hard to do these days)
It’s going to be hilarious when Houston trades Wall and Wood this offseason.
Can’t speak for anyone else but I never thought he Wiz were locks for anything
I did think they had a chance to be good but I abandoned that idea after about 2 weeks of seeing Russ shoot 8% from 3 again
Now there’s really no out for them.
RWB returning to form was their last gasp. With Russ now firmly on the back 9, there’s essentially no way to build around Beal in the next 2-3 years.
A lock to be better than Rockets. You mean
Only 3 gms back. You should learn to wait before talking. We all know how that’s gone for you here.
Warriors would need to include Wiggins in a trade for Beal so money matches which I don’t see happening because why would wizards want another big contract.
Ingram and Adams for Wiggins and Looney and a later pick (not the wolves one) lets goooooo
Adams would fit the warriors very well.
Warriors could use a Big Man on a 10-Day Contract. A stretch-5 like Thon Maker worth a look. For rebounding and defense, Tyler Zeller is still available. Younger players worth a look are Deyonta Davis, Brandon McCoy, Dakari Johnson, AJ Hammons, and the recently waived/set-Free Justin Patton.
Kerr needs to stop Signing every time a Big Man gets injured, which started with the Marquis Chriss injury.
meant to say “ Kerr needs to stop Signing a Guard every time a Big Man gets injured, which started with the Marquis Chriss broken-leg injury.”
Kerr doesn’t sign anyone, the Lacobs do.
I agree though, they have been playing shorthanded with bigs all year for absolutely no reason. Looney is only 24 but has the body and body language of a 45 year old and is constantly getting hurt, why do they act like he’s all they need? Stop signing guards man….
Why capitalize signing, guard, and big man?
Kerr doesn’t sign the players. Zellers hasn’t played in 2 years. Why bother?
Steve Kerr can only coach the best team
He is a bad coach for playoffs teams
Kerr’s play calling has been very curious this year. Its like just get the ball to curry which most teams know that is happening.
Kerr’s massive ego has singlehandedly destroyed this season. He literally said this week “When we were doing great, I was an offensive genius. Now we’re struggling and I’m behind the times. The truth is always somewhere in the between.” – no one ever called him a coaching genius, that’s not even true, any coaching props he got was for being able to control player egos (which he didnt even do well, because KD left). Kerr is turning into the white Isaiah so fast – he -can- do all the jobs in the NBA, but he’s not the best-ever at all of them, but he thinks he is.
ALL he had to do was run PNR’s all year and this is a top 4 team but noooo, SoKerrTes says: “must run complicated motion offense only HOFers can actually run, but they too also want more PNR, oh btw I replaced Iggy, Klay, KD and Livingston with Bazemore, Oubre, Wiggins, Wanamaker and Mulder – all elite IQs with all bottom of the barrel moron-level IQs, I expected these smooth brains to run the most complicated offenses ever, and I needed 20-50 games to “figure it out”. I am the goat coach!”
See KD basically admitting that’s why he left GSW to Dray in that podcast this week? He wanted more PNR’s too. All Kerr has ever had to do is run PNR’s 100% of the time and GSW probably has 5 rings and is the top 4 right now. Kerr’s refusal to PNR is why is a trash coach, period. He has the EASIEST job in the league, he has Curry on fire 24-7, and he is blowing game after game because “we aren’t chasing wins”. Just an infuriating season, period, and its one person’s fault entirely….
Really ???? Beal again. Turner when you have Wiseman ????? Adams who’s signed for 2 more yrs at 17.5 mill ????? Really. Slow news day.
Unless GSW fires Kerr and replaces him with an a coach who actually knows how to develop players and run a PNR offense like 90% of the time, but especially with Steph, they are stuck with trading Wiseman, Wiggins and the Wolves pick (and/or their own pick) for superstars this offseason – it’s about to be the biggest story of the offseason. If you’re already exhausted with it, you aren’t going to have fun in the coming months….
Why would you want to trade Wiseman and possibly 2 1sts, in a deep draft, for an overpaid player? Your basketball ‘IQ’ is bizarre
All I want is to never see Bazemore and Oubre on court at the same time ever again. I’d prefer to have them both not on GSW too, but one step at a time.
Toscano is the only bench player with a decent IQ, and he fell out of the rotation for more low IQ Bazemore, because Kerr is smart and everyone else with eyes and a brain is stupid, I guess.
#FireSteveKerr
Bazemore problem is he reaches so much he fouls all game long. Oubre is one of the most inconsistent players in the NBA. The question on him is will he show up today or watch the other players on offense. I am praying the warriors don’t resign Oubre because he will use up all the bench money. I would have done the ball trade for Oubre because at least with ball he gives hustle every game.
Bench money? You realize you cant sign any outsiders right? Your stuck w bird rights and vet mins and GSW doesn’t seem like a hot market for vet mins these days
