The Overtime Elite league for top high school prospects has secured its first two commitments, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who reports that Matt Bewley and Ryan Bewley, a pair of 6’9″ twin brothers from Florida, are signing with Overtime Elite.
Matt and Ryan, high school juniors who are ranked third and 12th overall by ESPN among recruits in the class of 2023, are expected to earn in the seven figures over the course of their respective two-year contracts, sources tell Wojnarowski.
Jonathan Givony of ESPN, who tweets that Overtime Elite has been “extremely active” in attempting to recruit top high school prospects this spring, notes (via Twitter) that the league is aiming to end up with about 30 players by the time it starts up in September. The league has been approaching 2021 high school grads with offers of two-year contracts and reclassification to 2022, according to Givony.
Here are a few more odds and ends from around the basketball world:
- In an Insider-only article for ESPN.com, Brian Windhorst and Kevin Arnovitz explore which new rules and other innovations implemented for the NBA’s 2020/21 season may stick around beyond this season. According to the ESPN duo, the baseball-style two-game series that became common this season are unlikely to be as frequent going forward now that fans are being allowed back into arenas, but the league has been gauging teams’ interest in keeping the rules related to expanded eligibility for two-way players.
- Former NBA guard Leandro Barbosa, who currently works as a player mentor coach on the Warriors‘ staff, will play in the BIG3 this summer, a source tells Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated (Twitter link).
- Zach Harper of The Athletic takes a look at what’s next for this year’s lottery-bound NBA teams, while Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report identifies the Cavaliers, Kings, and Warriors as some teams that should consider either trading their lottery picks or trading down if they don’t land a top-four pick.
As if GSW’s front office couldn’t be any dumber: they left roster spaces open AND had guys on staff who could run Kerr’s offense in their sleep (Barbosa and Zaza), but it didn’t dawn on them to ask them if they were fit enough to play like 5 MPG? Those two literally still practice with the team sometimes. What a dumb season. What kind of moron has a top 3 MVP and top 3 DPOY and punts the season before it even starts? Pathetic.
If they see them everyday in practice, they saw enough to know…. nevermind
So overworking the roster is better than any NBA player? You are saying its better having zero players than A player? Nevermind is right…you know you are just arguing for the sake of it at this point. Im right and will keep being right here.
But again, terrible decision making by GSW FO. They gave up on this season despite having the best player and the best defensive player. You just don’t do that, for ANY reason. Checked-out Kerr all year “we arent chasing wins”. Worst situation, would never have happened if they just gave Jerry West $1M more.
You have a very low hit rate and should be banned.
Right now Marty’s claim is GSW’s failure to activate Barbosa and Zaza is their downfall. He blinds himself to his stupidity. Ha binds and blinds.
Marty says 3/4 of the team are G league players. Including Poole. The night he said that Poole scored 37. Having said that x%, we waste our time responding to this idiot. I’ll stop if you will.
13 words and I’m arguing… nevermind

You know, sometimes I feel like you’re a Warriors fan, and other times I just think you love to hate. Make up your mind
“I’m right and will keep being right here”. This is why no one thinks your right.
Well….your actual arguments don’t help either.
You think the Warriors problem is that they didn’t sign Leandro Barbosa (hasn’t played in the league in three years) and Zaza (hasn’t played in two years), neither of whom were effective in their last season, to play five minutes apiece per game? Pure craziness.
Kyle Korver was his guy earlier this year that was going to “turn it all around” …. He’s got a type, thats for sure
I think they were walking that tight rope to look like they were trying to win in the playoffs, but not winning too much so they lose their draft pick.
With Garland and Sexton looking like potential future all-stars (DG-18th in league in assists at 21 y/o, CS-18th in ppg at 22 y/o), Okoro showing mass improvement and potential down the stretch, and Allen showing the same….the four spot and backup positions needs to be addressed.
Suggs and Green wouldn’t fit too much, Kuminga is a poor shooter (for now, and shooting is something Cavs desperately need), and while Mobley could potential fit that 4 spot idk how high his potential is at the 4 (his potential at the 5 is huge obviously). I do personally love Barnes for his play making and passion on defense (his scouting report videos show him constantly clapping in the face of who he is defending which is awesome for some reason) but he can’t shoot yet either.
Wasserman makes some good points about this topic. Cade would fit perfect into that 4 spot. But if not a number one pick, maybe the Cavs could trade down to a team like OKC who could send us a couple picks and a young player for them to move up.
LSL, what do you think about Davion Mitchell?
Really like him. Although I only saw him in the NCAA final, he definitely showed skill. It’s funny the similarities he shares with the D. Mitchell already in the league lol. But while we do need a backup PG badly, idk if reaching for him in the high lottery is what the Cavs need. If they trade down and get some other assets, I wouldn’t be mad at them grabbing him at all.
Oops, sorry LSL, but I didn’t read your post well. I was thinking you were discussing warriors and didn’t see you were a cavs guy. At any rate, I like him for GSW
I feel stupid. It waspretty obvious.
Probably saw the callname and thought love & sex must meant Cali!
Mitchell is strong & tough like Klay is/was, and should be able to combine with any of the more finesse guards like Curry, Garland or Sexton.
Still, shorter than Cunningham, who can fight for the play himself.
Haha it happens
thanks guys

IMO
Kings, Cavs and Warriors need to trade up
Example
Warriors trade away 7th and 17th picks for 4th pick
not 4 4
Nobodies doing those trade down scenarios after Luka
17th pick is a mere dart throw
I didn’t know captain Barbosa played basketball. Does jack play too?
