12:55pm: The Bucks have announced further details on the injury that will sideline DiVincenzo for the remainder of the 2021 playoffs (Twitter link). An MRI and examination by team doctor Dr. Carole Vetter revealed that DiVincenzo is suffering from a torn ligament in his left ankle, per the team.
11:53am: Bucks guard Donte DiVincenzo will miss the remainder of the postseason after suffering a serious tendon injury in his left foot, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.
DiVincenzo was hurt on a drive to the basket in the second quarter of Thursday’s game. He was fouled by Goran Dragic on the play and limped off the court.
The third-year guard started all 66 games he played this season and turned in a career-best year with 10.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per night. Although Milwaukee appears to have its first-round series in hand with a 3-0 lead over Miami, DiVincenzo’s absence could make a difference in later rounds.
DiVincenzo will be extension-eligible this offseason as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.
It’s likely both the Bucks and Nets will be down an important role player for their likely series. If both teams sweep, Jeff Green probably won’t be available for at least the first couple games.
Huge blow for the Bucks.
Big blow? Guys averaging 2.2 pts in playoffs. We’ll be fine without him!
Do you not watch your own teams games? He’s a great defender it’s not always about points
It’ll be about points when Middleton goes missing in the next round.
But, “we’ll be fine without him.” So the Bucks will be fine without Donte and won’t miss Middleton when he “goes missing in the next round.”
That’s a deep team. Hope you’re right.
Told ya No Middleton!
Way to have confidence in Middleton. It’s a different year bro. It’s not like we’re counting on Bledsoe anymore.
Donte is a serious loss. If the Bucks do continue through to win the finals without him, Middleton will have silenced all his haters in the process.
Through this season, Ive thought the Bucks were lucky the Bogdan trade fell through, good as he’s been.
The drop to Forbes might be steep. Donte does so much more than shoot.
No Middleton! He’s a bum!!!!
!
Sure did miss him hey???
Losing a starting player, even your worst one, is always significant.
You’re an idiot if you think he doesn’t do 100 other little things really well that help your team.
Name two
Play tight defense, rebound, create shots for other players. Do you watch the Bucks or are you just hating jmeissner?
1. You’re
2. A troll
There you go.
Not sure you realize what Donte provides to the starting lineup. He can usually defend the opponent’s beat wing which allows Middleton and Holiday to not over exert themselves on the defensive end.
He’s a good ball handler and cutter on the offensive side which makes defenses account for him.
Also losing one wing forces Budenhozer to go deeper into his bench for the remainder of the playoffs. He had been sticking with a 9 man rotation but now either Jeff Teague or possibly Jordan Nwora will be called upon to play more consistently.
So besides playing really well on defense and being a key facilitator for their offense, what did a bum like DiVincenzo do for the Bucks?
What was he supposed to do for a team where he’s the 5th-7th scoring option (Portis and Forbes) on a title contender? He provides everything PJ Tucker does along with the ability to create his own shot create offensive opportunities for his teammates.
Bummer. Especially if they do go deep he’s a guy that deserves to celebrate right alongside them.
Yeah..regardless of how far they go he has been a big part of the team…what was your reason for pointing out the obvious there? Just trying to manufacture a warm, fuzzy feeling? Just teasing ya, but that seemed like an unnecessary attempt to create a warm, fuzzy moment. Warm, fuzzy! Say it three times!
You don’t keep the title as number one commenter without putting in the work.
Sometimes I’m the bad cop sometimes I’m the friendly chubbo snacking on a donut thinking about Mayberry and the good times.
Better question, Two Hands: What was YOUR reason for making that comment? Seemed like an unnecessary attempt to distract from his sentiment.
He made a big leap this year and the Bucks will find it hard to replace his energy and non-box score skill set.
Big loss. I don’t see a second facilitator in their current rotation, and JH likes to play off the ball. Teague maybe steps up.
They will need Teague to step up, he’ll probably be their backup PG now.
Once again Middleton is a no show! What a bum!
