Anthony Davis took responsibility for the Lakers’ loss in their playoff opener to the Suns and promises there won’t be a repeat in Game 2, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin relays. Davis was limited to 13 points on 5-for-16 shooting to go along with seven rebounds.
“There’s no way we’re winning a game, let alone a series, with me playing the way that I played,” Davis said. “So, I mean, this is on me. I take full responsibility, for sure. We’ll be better Game 2.”
We have more on the Lakers:
- Davis shrugs off detractors he plays too soft at times, writes Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register. “If there are people who say that, most of them probably were never in the game,” he said. “I really don’t care.”
- LeBron James turned aside a postgame question regarding his league protocols violation, per Mark Medina and Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today. James avoided a suspension despite attending a promotion event in which an excess of 25 people were in attendance. “I’ll be ready for Game 2,” was all that James offered to the media on that subject.
- Jared Dudley takes pride in his ability to return from a torn right MCL while avoiding surgery, Goon reports in a separate piece. Dudley opted for plasma injections while dropping 20 pounds with a strict diet over the past two months. “I put this up as being the best achievement of my career,” Dudley said. “I could have been done. Now, maybe I can play another year. It means a lot that I can even be back out on the court.”
- Monday marked the first day that the team was at least 85% vaccinated, Medina tweets.
If Bron was treated the same as everyone else, he would have been ruled out of the game vs GSW. But this league is highkey rigged in his favor, so…
Is that all you do is whine?
Marty might only whine, I don’t know I don’t pay attention to usernames to keep a Rolodex of my perceptions of each ones emotions, however he isn’t wrong, every other player would’ve been suspended but Adam silver and Lebron kiss eachother a lot, and you know what that’s just fine let them live their lives
Oh, please. Marty’s comment is legit. The Great LeBron runs the NBA which has resembled pro wrestling since the late 80’s. It’s all about glamor and money. No Lakers in the finals, less money for the network and the league. LeBron should be suspended immediately.
Just because you disagree with what Marty has said in the past doesn’t mean his point is wrong here. Adam Silver has been notorious for uneven treatment of teams and players for the same actions.
He refuses to hold Lebron accountable yet put the two other violators in 14 day protocol. He punished the Pelicans for sitting Anthony Davis after his trade demands while healthy, yet is allowing OKC to sit SGA, Horford, and Dort for huge chunks of the season. He worked to get Hinkie fired, yet is allowing OKC to do a multi year tank.
Stern would have held everyone accountable equally. In fact Stern nixed a trade between the Lakers and Hornets/Pelicans in that Chris Paul trade while Silver allowed rampant tampering.
During the post-game interview, right after the LAKERS eliminated the NUGGETS last season’s playoffs, Lebron admitted that he was the one who got AD to the LAKERS.
Oh yes, nobody minds about the rules anymore. Not even one this blatant.
Stern basically forced Jordan to retire
But that’s the thing — Stern was abrasive but fair.
In my experience it’s people like Stern who, even though they can be total a*****s at times, are better to work for than the lovey dovey guys like Silver who are all talk.
But he’s right.
And Marty wants the same treatment for Steph Curry, so complaint is only partial.
That said, a one game suspension would not have been unfair, and he’s tender anyway. I suspect Silver was complicit somehow… It was a promotional event.
throw enough $#!+ at the wall, some’s bound to stick.
exactly. and didnt KD get fined or suspended for saying a “homophobic” slur to his friend while Lebron tweets for a witch hunt on a police officer doing his job and not a peep from the NBA
Caruso to the Knicks !!!
they don’t want that scrub.
A scrub the Lakers ignored last game until they were way behind. Success will be delayed while he sits.
AD should fall on the sword here-
Just an embarrassing game he had on defense and offence – Looked disinterested for the most part all game.
Ive always questioned his fire as he has all the skills in the world. The book is certainly still left unwritten but Im not 100% sold he has that burning desire anymore… He got the one title so now that monkeys gone….he has the money so now that monkeys gone…….. is being in 56 commercials per year the goal or another ship….that seems a viable question today …. We all know theres more in the tank, but the great ones dont take days off, it keeps them up at night…I bet AD sleeps like a baby regardless today and it has me a bit concerned. He could be the best player in the world tomorrow if he really wanted too ,the fact that he’s not has to leave some scratching their heads
Drummond was worse, except for the one block of Booker that changed momentum. But that was Booker’s fault for hubris. Otherwise Drummond seemed affected by the strange LA mood. Ha is it the cloud that follows him around?
Drummond just seems like a bad fit. Maybe too early to say bc he hasn’t played with LBJ enough.
But I’d almost prefer to minutes go to Gasol. At least get some theoretical spacing when you go big. Going from Drummond to Harrell at 5 is brutal in that regard.
Sounds like LeBron finally got vaccinated to get the team to 85%. I bet he did it to avoid suspension for violating protocols, nice compromise. Of course they couldn’t lose their golden goat and all the ratings he will give them in round 1. His team will soon be eliminated so it won’t matter once the Lakers get sent home by the Suns.
The NBA must change the league name to LBA, LeBron Basketball Association is better each a baseball game this days than a basketball game.
