Magic head coach Steve Clifford, who has been in the NBA’s health and safety protocols for over a week, has been cleared and is on track to coach the team on Wednesday vs. Boston, the team announced today (via Twitter).
We heard back on April 24 that Clifford had registered a positive test for COVID-19. However, he had just received his second vaccination shot and reportedly didn’t experience any symptoms following his diagnosis. Despite not feeling ill, Clifford had to clear the league’s protocols before being given the go-ahead to be around the Magic again.
Clifford has missed five games so far and also won’t be available for Monday’s game against the Pistons, since the team has already traveled to Detroit for that contest. He’ll be ready to go when the Magic return home to host the Celtics on Wednesday.
In Clifford’s absence, Tyrone Corbin temporarily took the reins as Orlando’s acting head coach. He has led the team to a 2-3 record so far, with wins over Cleveland and Memphis.
Uh oh the big red dog is BACK
On the twitter link, about 12 down, is a great interview with Cole Anthony.

Was the test on Clifford a viral test, or an antibody test?— The latter is known for generating false positives.
Did the vaccination deliver enough proxy covid to cause a short covid infection?— don’t anyone dare to insinuate that! Don’t ask if he was temporarily contagious either! People might get the wrong idea and not get vaccinated! Don’t say “proxy” in a medical context— it is legalese, not doctorese! There are three types of vaccines but they all contain a little of the hair of the dog, or a similar dog. Did he catch it then cured himself with his own immune system before the vaccine had a chance to take effect, (about two weeks)? Nobody knows much of this and online searches did not inspire my confidence, but I did not research super hard. Meanwhile, protocols are protocols. Pay no attention, I’m a reader not a doctor. If you don’t ask questions after reading, you won’t even get the question such an article brings, much less any answer.
Everything ok at home?
Well, wish we could get a rain-pass on the rain to save some of it for summer when lawns turn brown.
But seriously, we (humans) are going to be chasing this mutating virus for years with vaccines. We have to get kids back in school so they spread memory cells from the immune-system. ‘Cause that is how we roll IMO.
