Nuggets reserve point guard Monte Morris is nearing his return to the floor, tweets Mike Singer of the Denver Post. Morris is “definitely getting closer” to suiting up again for Denver, head coach Michael Malone said.
Nevertheless, Singer notes that Morris will remain sidelined for the next few games as he continues to rehabilitate from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since April 16.
There’s more out of the Northwest Division:
- With Jazz All-Star guards Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley both absent, Utah has been able to showcase the depth of its roster, writes Tony Jones of The Athletic. Wing Bojan Bogdanović has become a prime scoring option on the perimeter for Utah, and even greener players like two-way rookie point guard Trent Forrest have stepped up to help the Jazz remain very much in the race for the West’s top seed.
- Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault has revealed that star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is still grappling with a “significant” plantar fascia tear, tweets Joe Mussatto of the Oklahoman. “It’s not something that you should really mess around with,” Daigneault said. “If we got aggressive with him, it could compromise him long term, which makes no sense for us for a player that is as important to our franchise as he is.” Gilgeous-Alexander has been sidelined since March with the injury.
- After scoring 14 points in a 123-114 loss to the Hawks, veteran Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony has cracked the NBA’s all-time top 10 scoring list, writes Casey Holdahl of Trailblazers.com. “Top 10 in anything of all-time is a special moment, so I don’t want to take this moment for granted,” said Anthony. “I don’t want to downplay it, I’m excited about it, I’m blessed to be able to accomplish this in year 18. I think that’s what people should look at, the fact that I’m in my 18th season.” Anthony has been a productive offensive contributor during his second season with Portland. He will be a free agent this summer.
Melo is a free agent this summer, maybe he will get a big contract from someone.
Any other year this would be a Knicks punchline, esp with Melo.
Now though…I could see Pelicans doing something dumb? 70% serious.
Melo, Wall and Olynyk, 2021 lottery here we go!
It only took the Rockets 10 games back in 2018 to figure out they didn’t want Melo, they’re not going to bring him back with 3 far better options already on their roster. One being Olynyk whom they will almost certainly re-sign. The other two being Jae’Sean Tate and KJ Martin, both of which are having great rookie seasons.
Your assuming rockets will want to compete next year. They aren’t going to do that. Especially with Kelly Olynyk as your prize off-season signing)
Of course the Rockets will want to compete next year, who doesn’t?
And they will be far more competitive than anyone expects them to be if they manage to hold onto their top-4 pick in the draft with the elite talent those picks can acquire. While Olynyk can be a huge part of that success for a very modest price around $12M/year or so.
He probably won’t be averaging 18.2 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and 3.2 APG while shooting 57.4% and 37.8% from 3-point range like he has this season but he could put up numbers very similar to that.
Sure buddy, with a cheap owner like Fertita, good luck signing FA.
A rookie and Kevin freaking Olynyk are not making you competitive. Wall is toast, Wood is injury prone and others are role players and/or stat chasers
They’re gonna suck again.
You would think that when someone cracks the top 10 all-time scoring list in the NBA, they might deserve a whole article for it, not just a lil’ side note…
specially when they are whole articles ’bout guys signing for 10 days here or there, which in reality no one really cares ’bout it, right?
Just thought is a bit odd!
Probably because most people don’t care?
Should have mixed in a “Is Carmelo a HOFer? That would get people going.
