Juan Toscano-Anderson has signed a standard contract that includes a fully guaranteed minimum salary for next season and he’s extremely grateful, as he told Anthony Slater of The Athletic and other media members (Twitter link). The 6’6” Warriors swingman calls it a “life-changing contract, a life-changing signature” and vows to work even harder. “I get kind of paranoid in situations like this,” he said. “I am happy but the real work starts now. I don’t feel pressure but there’s more I need to do, I need to raise the bar.”
We have more on the Warriors:
- James Wiseman had a spotty rookie season cut short by injury but coach Steve Kerr promises that the No. 2 pick of the draft won’t disappoint in the long run, Marcus White of NBC Sports Bay Area writes. “I have no doubt James is going to make a huge impact in this league,” Kerr said. “He’s gonna be a hell of a player, but it takes time and you can’t rush that process, unfortunately. It just has to happen on its own time, so he’ll get there, but we’ll just have to keep working with him. The good thing is he’s a great student, and he’s a hard worker and got a great approach. “
- Jordan Poole has continued to be a key player during the second half of the season, Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area notes. The former University of Michigan guard is averaging 13.6 PPG and 2.4 APG since the All-Star break. Poole is under contract for next season and the team holds a $3.9MM option for the 2022/23 campaign.
- Draymond Green asserts his defensive impact goes far beyond stats, as he described to Sam Amick of The Athletic in a wide-ranging interview. “One thing I am certain of is that I can (mess) up an entire team’s offense,” he said. “And so, when you look at the impact that I have on the defensive side of the ball, it’s not always going to show up in blocked shots. It’s not always going to show up in steals. But I guarantee you it shows up in your favorite-player-who-I-may-be-playing-against’s mind.”
Draymond: The Intangible Warrior
The key to success for Warriors is
Trade away Wiseman, Projected 7th pick and 16th pick this summer
Have you never read anything anyone from the Warriors has ever said regarding him?
Huh? Why would you want to get rid of Wiseman? He has the potential to be great. So he struggled in his first season. All big men do. It takes 3 seasons for them to find their game. And with the draft choices, the Warriors could land two solid starters. So, I don’t understand what you would gain by trading all that away. Why blow up the franchise.
Obviously he feels that the Warriors need someone who can help them now before their window closes instead of waiting until Wiseman develops into a great player (if he ever does). Golden State is desperate for a center who can start alongside Green, Curry, and Thompson (if he ever recovers from all of his various injuries).
I get it now. WallyWorld, Marty McRae, and Sillivan believe it is better to destroy a Franchise, than to build it up. Marty McRae wants the Warriors to lose for the next decade…WallyWorld what do you know about developing basketball players? You keep trashing Wiseman. Why?
Even if you believe Wiseman is going to be a stud you just said yourself it will most likely take 3 seasons of development.
IDK, do the Warriors have any all-time greats on their roster rapidly approaching their mid-30’s by any chance?
That’s the reason you trade Wiseman. Not bc he’s a bad prospect but because he’s a GOOD PROSPECT. Who can get you the multiple impact players you need to contend right now. While you have a championship level franchise player in his prime.
buttholesurfer69, that’s exactly right !!
Okay Sillivan, we know this is the number one agenda of the Warriors. Get a guy, a superstar, to help them WIN NOW with curry Thompson green and whoever. But who is that guy? Who do you trade those three for?
“it takes time and you can’t rush that process, unfortunately. It just has to happen on its own time, so he’ll get there, but we’ll just have to keep working with him.”
Yeah but why did you have Steph Curry and Draymond Green in their primes and draft a project th0ugh? If this GSW has Haliburton or Ballm along with veteran FA C’s like JaVale McGee, they would have dusted everyone this year and easily rolled to a title. Total incompetence from GSW front office in picking a player who doesn’t fit with a contender.
It’s because Wiseman has more value than Halliburton or those other guys. You pick him because he is a generational Talent. He can shoot, he can run, he can block shots, he’s mobile, he’s seven feet, he’s young, he wants to learn.
He is a tremendous asset and you don’t pass on him to draft a guard. Trade this guy away and you can get a Halliburton AND someone else. The only thing was nobody was available.. or not enough was available to consider trading James Wiseman at that point. So you roll with it and go for it again this offseason. You look at what’s available and make the best decision. You don’t want to make a bad trade just so you say you made a trade.
Wiseman ISNT a “Generational talent” though, or else he would have gone #1 and been a superstar right off the jump.
Haliburton turns this exact team into a finals contender – if Wiseman does not, then you pass on him. You NEVER draft big men at the top unless you are ready to make them the centerpiece.
The fact you are ignoring here is this: GSW and its moronic front office literally thought Steph and Draymond were cooked, they believed the lebronaganda spread by all the media talking heads he bought off. They were extremely wrong, as are you here, as you all will always be on this specific topic. The fact remains is this: GSW made the wrong pick and made a pick that a rebuilding team makes, not a contender. The fact they couldnt see Steph being this good this year proves they are entirely worthless and need to all be fired. Haliburton and Avdija make GSW a powerhouse this season, period. Wiseman doesn’t fit Kerr’s gameplans and they refused to start him in Santa Cruz to help develop him from the lost years he’s had, further proving they completely got it wrong with him, as well as Lamelo.
Wiseman will probably be a decent NBA player, but not for the next 3 years, so if you have Steph Curry, you do not draft Wiseman, you draft Lamelo or Haliburton or even Avdija. This is what a smart FO does, or one that claims to want to win every year does. GSW lied and they went rebuild mode for no reason at all.
oops, meant to say “Haliburton OR Avdija make GSW a powerhouse”. Both would have definitely sealed the deal and LeBron would have been on vacation by now lol
You don’t pass on a center when one is available. Bell and Hailburton will not win a title with out a big. Good bigs get you to the Finals. Look at Toronto no big no playoffs. Embiid, Durant and Jokic make a difference. Zubac has been huge for the Clips too
What I’m saying is they picked Wiseman to trade him. You can get more for James Wiseman then you can for Halliburton. So I’m with you on that. Win now not three years from now. They just haven’t found a taker yet.
Marty McRae says the Warriors are completely incompetent. Please explain how they were able to win 20+ more games in a season despite having significant injuries. Marty McRae has said that Klay Thompson is worthless. Marty McRae has said that only reason that Warriors won any Championship is because of Stephen curry.
Who gives a rip what you think Marty McRae said? I can read that stuff for myself. I can read his posts on my own. Why don’t you tell us what YOU think? Don’t tell me what Marty thinks I already read those LOL.
Draymond is a great defender that’s for sure!
& Dray has had a great season this year, well done for him!
I agree that he does an awful lot of disruption, his D is up there with the best like Simmons, Embiid, Giannis & AD!
You see Gobert is just overrated as a defender, guy can’t defend for his life, all the good centers in the league have their best games when they play Gobert!
Such a head scratcher that anyone thinks he can play D, like at all, right?
Very true El Don.. and then when you consider Rudy Gobert’s offense, it’s really frustrating. He can’t catch a pass half the time, he really doesn’t have offensive go-to moves, and he really doesn’t do a lot of pick-and-rolls for easy hoops. Yet he says he’s a Max guy LOL.
Gobert’s overrated by some for sure. But not that much. Guy is a limited but very efficient offensive player. And by any defensive metric we have he’s one of the best defensive players in the league.
Gobert gets exposed every postseason, and we are about to see it happen once again, lol
Oubre play was the reason the GSW did not do well. They will rebound next year. Weisman will give them more than a McGee would. He was hit by CoVid early and did not practice. With a Wiggins playing well he can be traded too. They will make the moves to be in the top 3 in the west next year. They can trade Oubre and a pick to maybe OKC for Horford who would be perfect for them.
Kelly Oubre was a good pickup. They needed a wing with energy and that’s what he gave them. He gave them everything he had… he just had a shooting slump to start the year. But I’m happy with how he played overall. He’s a free agent so the Warriors can’t trade him unless it’s a sign-and-trade.
I’m really looking forward to the offseason this year with the potential for two pics maybe, and combining with other assets like Wiggins and maybe Eric paschall or Jordan Poole stepping up he has value too. We shall see but as I’ve said a thousand times, who’s that guy the Warriors can pick up? Who’s the stud who’s coming?
Wish we could play Gobert 1 on 1 ppl.
Lol
Draymond literally locked both Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton in the same game. He’s DPOY by a million miles this season. He can lock any opponent, any position. The biggest C’s and the fastest G’s, Dray can beat them both defensively.
Rudy is good but gets exposed in the playoffs, like we are about to see, yet again.
