Hawks big man Bruno Fernando has been suspended for tonight’s Game 7 after leaving the bench area during an altercation Friday, the NBA announced (via Twitter). Sixers center Joel Embiid was fined $35K for escalating the dispute with Atlanta forward John Collins.
The incident occurred with 4:02 left in the fourth quarter after a hard collision between Embiid and Collins. Embiid was called for a foul on the play and then pursued Collins “in an unsportsmanlike manner,” according to the league. Embiid also refused to comply with an NBA Security interview after the game.
The loss of Fernando shouldn’t be significant for Atlanta, as he has made just two brief appearances during the playoffs, both against Philadelphia. He played 33 games this season, averaging 1.5 points and 2.4 rebounds in about seven minutes per night.
Shoving another player to the ground after the play is unsportsmanlike.
Collins did kick and push Embiid off of him, correct? Then when Embiid stood up Collins at one point had both arms wrapped around Embiid around his neck and shoulders.
Trea Young coming in from behind on Embiid and bumping into him.
Wow. Call an offensive foul on him for trying to go up for a bucket which shoulda been an and 1. He gets kicked and pushed by Collins trying to act tough. He stands up Collins grabs him then the balding Mighty Mouse looking mf pushes him in the back causing Collins to fall over and he still gets a 35k fine. I thought the nba would rescind the tech but they doubled down
Embiid escalated that and only a homer Phily fan (checks user name) would think otherwise.
Everything you said is correct and Marty, as usual, doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I hate the Sixers but Collins and Young getting nothing in the way of a fine is odd. Collins started it with the kick and Collins pulled Embiid towards him. Doesn’t justify Embiid’s actions but to think that Embiid is solely to blame is wrong.
Bottom line, though, these are just fines so not a big deal.
Where is the consequence for Trae Young running up and shoving Embiid from behind, twice? All I saw was after the offensive foul on Embiid, Collins took a shot at him while they were on the floor, and then Embiid got up, not touching him, and got in his face and dared him to do it while they were standing. I dont get what Embiid did wrong in this scenario
Yes because tiny Trae Young shoving the massive Joel Embiid actually moved Embiid – you homer idiots are disgusting. Embiid walking Collins into offcourt was entirely on Embiid and he did that to intimidate Collins. If you cant see that you need to remove your homer goggles.
He ran up and shoved him from behind…anyone that’s ever been in any physical altercation knows that if someone hits you with something when you’re off guard, it effects you more. It’s also amazingly hysterical to see you calling other people, who arent even fans of the teams being talked about, a homer, no offense…but you are the one that had to come in with insults, as usual, and get super heated over what exactly? Chill
You could ask Marty why he gets heated and insulting on almost every post.
Because he is hiding behind a screen and a fake name.
If you rewatch the play, Trae tried to pull him back first. But when you’re 165 pounds and you got ahold of a 285 pound mountain of a man charging forward…you’re going with him. Embiid is a punk, and he’s been playing like one all series. Forearms and elbows all series to whoever tries to play defense on him. If you’re gonna play bully ball with the opposition, don’t play chicken with the media afterwards.
And btw, Young the “foul hunter” has shot 58 free throws this series compared to Embiid’s 72. But yeah, he’s definitely getting more calls…
Lol this argument makes no sense,
As usual with this series, Young and Collins skate free
Dude get over yourself
I actually didn’t want Phily to lose today until I came in this thread and read what you coward homer fans are saying about this. Now, I’m ATL or Bucks (if phil wins) all day.
Man your posts today look disgusting. Calm down and show some respect
I actually didn’t want to mute you until I realized that all you do is complain and whine and call people names. Done.
In 2021 there are no consequences for Trae Young he is 100% untouchable
He’s the size of a flea and you think he was bossing up on Joel Embiid, a man literally twice his size. Pathetic. Be better at being a fan. Admit your team and your fave players are in the wrong sometimes (you will never ever do this).
@Marty: Trae Young’s size has absolutely nothing to do with anything. If he threw a punch, should he be excused because he’s small? As usual, you are spouting ignorant nonsense.
Size is not an argument. It may work for lawyers in front of juries, but that’s bC of the possibility of other Martys in the jury.
Embid will need a lot of tissue in few hours just like when he cried like little girl against the raptors! Shaquille Simmons will not touch the ball because he’s afraid of free throws! Go Hawks
