Suns guard Cameron Payne will be able to play in tonight’s Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, tweets Dave McMenamin of ESPN. Payne suffered a sprained left ankle after playing just four minutes in Thursday’s Game 3.
Payne did a tremendous job of filling in for Chris Paul while he was in the league’s health and safety protocols and had to miss the first two games of the series. Payne posted a career-best 29 points in a Game 2 victory, along with nine assists and no turnovers.
Payne is picking an opportune time to turn in the best performances of his career. He will be a free agent this summer and appears to be headed to a large payday, whether it’s with Phoenix or someone else.
A lottery pick in 2015, Payne played for three teams during his first four NBA seasons, then was out of the league last year until the Suns signed him for the restart in Orlando. Phoenix exercised its $1.98MM option on Payne before the start of this season.
Cam Payne is free to continue his campaign.
Just remember how this player got here. Fact fans can kill and thrash a 19 yr old. And knowledgeable media too, is even worse. It’s ust crazy to me. Cam was a big PG coming out. Long and big upside. For whatever reason it didn’t work out. I will always hold teams accountable for missing on a 19 yr old. It’s their job to make sure they reach that ceiling. Even if it’s lower than you thought. Rooting for you Bro. Get it done.
What else would you expect from a guy drafted by OKC?
The Thunder are stockpiling draft picks just like Boston did a few years ago.
And the anticipation in OKC is just as useless now as it was for the Celtics.
I went to college with Cam he has always been a hard worker, just didn’t get good opportunity after the foot injuries on that bi polar OKC team back then.
These are Billion dollar companies. That rely on talent right. Just don’t get why you wouldn’t make sure. About getting them to grow up and play better. We’ve seen a lot of young guys not really find their place in NBA. Just look at Knicks same players different coach. Or Hawks look what McMillan has done. OKC may just hope to score big. By stockpiling picks. You know 1 out of 4 has to work. But it be much better making sure you turn them into solid players. As a Knick fan I’ve seen that here too. Thibs to me seems more dedicated to the players he supports. You work you get better. I liked Cam coming out of school. Glad to see him have success.
Everyone likes the high picks. How about a vet getting bounced around, injuries healed.
