Atlanta won Game 4 vs. the Bucks in convincing fashion on Tuesday night, even without Trae Young in the lineup. Still, to maximize their chances of winning two more games and advancing to the NBA Finals, the Hawks would love to get their leading scorer back sooner rather than later.
Head coach Nate McMillan didn’t have a concrete update for reporters this morning on Young’s status, but said after Tuesday’s game that he suspects the star guard will ultimately be a game-time decision on Thursday, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN (Twitter link). Young is dealing with a bone bruise in his right foot.
Here’s more on the Hawks:
- Starting center Clint Capela, who took an elbow to the eye late in Tuesday’s win, saw the team ophthalmologist after the game and is being re-evaluated on Wednesday, according to Bontemps (Twitter link). Sources tell ESPN that there’s optimism within the organization that Capela avoided a major injury and should be available for Game 5.
- When he was traded from the Clippers to the Hawks in March, Lou Williams felt like he was being sent from a title contender to a sixth-place team, and contemplated retirement. Three months later, he found himself taking Young’s place in the starting lineup on Tuesday and helping lead new team to a win in a huge Eastern Conference Finals game. “We’re enjoying the ride. We feel like we deserve to be here. We’ve earned the right to be here, and at the same time we’re enjoying it,” Williams said, per Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today. “Did I look ahead and say we can be a championship contender day one? Probably not. But we’re two wins away like everybody else, and we feel good about it.”

Gallo and Lou Williams are far better than Bucks bench and most Bucks starters
Without Giannis, Bucks starters won’t be able to stop Gallo and Williams
I expand what Williams is saying
He is saying that Hawks have a better chance to win it all than Clippers
It’s too early to say something like this
Of course the Clippers have to win tonight in order to force a game 7, but there is still a chance that Kawhi could return for the Finals if his team can beat the Suns two more times.
This team has future dynasty written all over it. We’re extremely well positioned to continue improving & contending for the next 5yrs+.. Trae is becoming an MVP type guy. We have a couple of future all-star forwards in Dre Hunter & John Collins. Our 2guard situation is ridiculous with Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter & Bogdan Bogdanovic all big time players & all signed up for the next few yrs. Our 5 is the best rebounder in the game & a top3 defender at his position. We got about $15M in cap space & much more if we can move Gallo. Okongwu is developing into a beast faster than expected. We could easily resign Lou, he’s obviously still really good. Or we could give BGoodwin a bigger role. Kris Dunn is a decent backup pg too & Skylar Mays has earned more pt too. We also could look to upgrade the backup pg spot thru the draft, I personally would love Sharife Cooper. We’ve got all our upcoming 1sts. Plenty of room under the hard cap to extend Trae & Huerters contracts this summer. We have a great coach, a very competent & forward thinking front office. If we can get reasonably healthy & stay that way for the most part then the next NBA dynasty will be in Atl
Please stop with the foolishness. The only thing you have is a middling team that will make the playoffs for 10 years straight and never sniff the finals again.
Hawks future is bright compare to most teams who have win now rosters. What the hawks are doing is more than anyone expected . Would love to see a hawks /suns finals
Williams for Rondo was a win win trade for both teams.
