All-Star Nets point guard Kyrie Irving will officially miss Game 7 of Brooklyn’s second-round playoff series against the Bucks on Saturday, tweets Ian Begley of SNY.
Nets head coach Steve Nash said that Irving still has “some miles to make up” as he continues to treat a sprained right ankle that he incurred in the Nets’ Game 4 loss to Milwaukee.
Nash seemed hopeful that Irving would be able to return later in the playoffs, should the Nets move on, tweets Malika Andrews of ESPN. “It is not a season-threatening situation,” Nash said. Since Irving went down, the Nets are 1-2 in the series.
Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie also remains sidelined, tweets Tim Bontemps of ESPN. Dinwiddie remains optimistic that his surgically-repaired ACL will be ready in time for him to also return in these playoffs, should the Nets advance. But James Harden, playing through hamstring tightness, was not listed on the club’s on official injury report.
tufff
Yeah, that’s a shame, ain’t it?
I’m just not even the least bit interested. Bucks are a fake. Giannis might be a Freak. But he is gone when game is on the line. He is overrated. This series should of been over in 5. How this coach has a job is a mystery. If Giannis is a first team all D. Why isn’t he shutting down KD. The only scorer they got. Simple math lol. I’m so glad he stayed in Milwaukee . So we wouldn’t have to put with Giannis to NY. He doesn’t get what winning is. He’s already made it in his mind.
He just put up 30/17 in an elimination game less than 24 hours ago. I know some people have short memories and even less brain capacity, but you’re next level.
The rope has indeed run out on Giannis in my eyes.
I said before this postseason the excuses were off he table for G, he needs to step up and be the best player on the court no matter the circumstances –
Bud will probably take the fall regardless but Id like to see G step up and take full accountability if they get eliminated Saturday….Or basically the exact opposite of what he did last year when he had his minions “leak” all his unhappiness and cowered upon elimination … If you want to sit at the head of the table, there comes responsibilities
lmao what? You’re glad Giannis didn’t come to NY because of a few bad games (even though he was stellar *yesterday*)? Remind me again how bad our Knicks looked in the playoffs? What a scorching hot take.
And Giannis is a rim defender and plays great defense by the basket. He’s deserving of First Team All Defense. But he doesn’t play well as a spot up defender versus someone like KD. He’d get shredded. Both things can be true. Would you put vintage Mutombo or Olajuwon out on KD?
According to the playoff match up stats at NBA.com, Giannis vs. KD is lopsided in favor of Giannis but they have only gone up against each other for a handful of minutes.
Giannis has guarded KD for 5 min 50 sec, KD is 4/12 from the field and only 1/5 from 3P. He has 4 TOs, was blocked once and has drawn 2 shooting fouls.
KD has guarded Giannis for4:38. Giannis is 8/12 and 0/1 from 3P. He has 1 TO and has drawn 7 shooting fouls.
Would definitely be a coaching stratagem to have Giannis guard KD more in Game 7 (KD is shooting 71% against PJ and 58% against Middleton) and let Griffin and Green be guarded by Middleton and Tucker.
I have seen a chart putting Giannis #1 in the league at defending Durant, by FG%. On the other hand, PJ Tucker was acquired just for this reason, which frees Giannis to focus on offense. It’s up to the HC but not twitter or K.Al.
I am not disappointed in Giannis bC I never considered him well-rounded and he has not become moreso. To gm 7
Why dont the Nets foul Giannis more in the paint?? Dont let the guy get any dunk or layup!
Fellas I think we got another head coaching candidate right here
Giannis is a good inside player, but he’s like Shaq. Make your free throws, or pay the consequences in crunchtime. If he is truly a great player he will realize what he needs to improve in the offseason and work on it single mindedly. I also do not see him enabling the decent shooters he has around him. He is still trying to be the whole team. Budenholzer knows better than to let him do this, but apparently is willing to get fired rather than upset one of the league’s young, sensitive “stars”. I wish the NBA would just get tough again — I miss the 90s version of NBA ball.
It was poor & boring in the 90’s… it is sooo much better now!
Teams do score which in the 90’s games could end with disgraceful scores like 73-69!
BTW defenses are better now too, guys in the 90’s couldn’t keep up with the players now, that is all!
“It is not a season-threatening situation,”
But this Game 7 is. The ego on these guys just assuming they are going to win. I hope Milwaukee throttles them and I am not a Bucks fan.
Can someone send Kyrie a science book while he’s laid up? Maybe a good time to find some stuff out?
“When the going gets tough, the tough get going. And the quitter stays home and whines”. – Oscar Madison
Does it really surprise anyone that Kryrie is out?
I bet Lebron is in deep kaka with his bosses in the CCP.
Now is it a season threatening situation?
Harden being Harden. All-world until the playoffs.
