Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard and center Ivica Zubac will sit out Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals tonight, Marc Stein tweets.
Leonard hasn’t played in the series against the Suns due to a right knee injury that he suffered June 14 against Utah. Zubac is also sidelined by a right knee injury, officially described as an MCL sprain. The 24-year-old center played regularly during the first four games of the series, averaging 12.8 PPG and 11.0 RPG.
Marcus Morris is also dealing with a knee injury but he’ll play, according to coach Tyronn Lue, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN tweets.
With Zubac sidelined in Game 5, Lue went with a smaller lineup and his team staved off elimination with a 116-102 win. Guards Terance Mann and Patrick Beverley were inserted into the lineup with Morris and Paul George as the only natural forwards.
Can we stop acting like Kawhi is coming back this season? I mean is it really news that he’s not playing? Doesn’t everyone already know this?
I know right? Kind of weird how the NBA just let’s the Clippers pull this “we don’t know” crap. His ACL is more than likely torn
If it was torn I think he would have had surgery by now. But at this point I don’t know what the clippers have to gain by pulling this stuff, so weird.
not necessarily, when clay tore his acl I think it was about a month until he had surgery. The swelling needs to totslly go down. However if its is just a sprain. which is a partial tear, it could be as bad as Dinwiddie’s or it could be one that as swelling goes down be can play some minutes
“We?” I called him being out for the season 4 games ago. Still plenty of room on the bandwagon!
Can everyone stop whining about Kawhi? First, can you blame the Clippers for handling this in a way that keeps Kawhi in LA? Second, and most importantly, the injury has already been announced as a sprain. That’s it and it isn’t hard to look this up.
Yep, clippers know if you try to say or not say whether he is healthy or not he’ll throw a fit. That’s why they’re not labeling it, letting him decide when he is ready, even if it doesn’t look like he’s coming back.
The interesting thing is that by calling it a “sprain” they are keeping the diagnosis vague. A sprain can be just a stretching of the ligament or it can be a tear.
Those are two very different outcomes with vastly different recovery timelines.
I guess we’ll find out the extent of the damage after the Clipper’s season is over.
It’s a moot point now. Suns won’t know their next opponent until at least Saturday.
I thought Chris Paul was gonna singlehandedly lose them the series?
haha who’s the clown who said the Suns would be worse when Paul came back after missing the two games for COVID reasons? Was it Wally?
The correct response would be, “who is Marty?”
41 pts to close out Clippers. Wow seems like Chris wants this. No one is beating Suns. Chris and Crowder have been great vet additions to this young talented team. Booker and Ayton are becoming stars. Mentored by HOFer CP3. Suns are Rising …….
Without Blake or harden to slow him down, CP3 finally makes the finals. Man, thats gotta burn for all those Chris Paul haters))
Better question is if Kawhi can play next year….
