Joel Embiid will be in the Sixers‘ starting lineup for today’s opener of their second-round series with the Hawks, tweets ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Embiid, who was diagnosed with a small lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, was considered a game-time decision. He went through warm-ups before the team determined he was ready to play.
He suffered the injury in Monday’s playoff game against the Wizards, and the medical staff has been doing treatments on the knee all week. Embiid was limited to individual workouts during practices the last two days.
The Hawks announced that De’Andre Hunter will miss today’s game with soreness in his right knee, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic (Twitter link). The team’s top perimeter defender was able to play all five games in the first-round series with the Knicks, but he has been dealing with pain in his knee since having surgery in February.
Q1
76ers defense makes Hawks look better than Bucks
Half time
Ben Simmons and Danny Green defense make Trae Young look like Michael Jordan
Simmons stats
7 points
4 rebounds
3 assists
Trae Young
25 points
7assists
2 steals
Ben Simmons 3-10 from the FT line, that’s all you need to know.
As bad as Westbrick is, I can’t say that Simmons is actually better.
How about switch?
Wizards Simmons
76ers Westbrook
Must have skipped qtr.3.
But why break up Wallywood & Silli agreeing.
Don’t need Hunter as long as they have Trae. I’ll be curious to see how far Trae takes his team. Trae is thriving in the role as a Villian.
How is he a villian? The Knicks were never a serious playoff team this season.
The Warriors were never a serious playoff team this season either.
And the reason Embiid looks fantastic is because the Hawks are forcing the Sixers other “star” player to step up and prove his mettle. Can he do it?
We will definitely need Dre & Cam to become the best version of ourselves & challenge for a title. Also not sure how Trae is a villain at all, the NY crowd literally started the series off by screaming F Trae Young in unison. Seems like Trae is obv the good guy in that scenario
Despite how bad Rivers is coaching the 76ers right now, Embiid looks fantastic.
He looks great all the time when they lose.
Hawks can afford to rest Dre in gm2 now which is definitely a plus bc he’s not close to 100% rn. It would be great to get Cam back for a good 12-15mins in gm2 tho.. Philly has to have Joel for gm2 now obv but they might as well sit him in gm3 bc there’s no way they win that game
pathetic performance
Its gonna be even worse for yall in Atl. Tuesday night is gonna be a must win for Philly & yall gotta deal with the same deadly shooters that slayed you in gm1. Trapping Trae just ain’t gonna work
The Sixers can’t afford to lose again and go down to Atlanta behind 0-2. If they had a true PG then maybe they could develop into a championship caliber team.
If Sam Hinkie were a 76ers GM in 2018, they would have Luka
George Hill has higher salary than Luka
Luka is on his rookie contract still bro. Of course George Hills salary is higher. There’s a bunch of other older guys who aren’t stars that make more then the top 10 picks in every draft. That’s how it works. From what u said on another post u want to pay 4-80mil for Cam Payne. That’s also more then Luka makes
hey look, its always Ben’s fault! smh.
Usually, but this time it was Doc and Danny Greens fault.
George Hill and Danny Green love to guard players on the back, not in the front
They bring up the playoffs leadership
Sixers underestimated Hawks and paid for it. They play D all gm like they did in 4th Q. They win. Young is looking good. He’s a smart player. Much better passer than he’s given credit for. I still don’t see why they have trouble guarding him. Make him use clock coming up. Then double off the pick n rolls. That’s 14-15 sec there. Huerter, Gallinari, Bogdanovic are only going to shoot. Not going to basket. You can’t give them open looks. Team D is knowing other teams strength and tendencies. You play team D Sixers win.
I really don’t understand the Simmons defensive player of the year hype.
It feels like Doc told the press he was challenging Ben with that prior to the season, then Ben himself said ‘I am the DPotY’ then the media just assumed it was real.
The eye-test doesn’t correlate. He’s ok, but not great. When that’s all you can really offer consistently I’d expect Tony Allen-type intensity.
As a related aside – what’s with players claiming an award for themselves?! Let your playing do the talking. Brag afterwards for sure but prior? Cringe
Also, re. Ben – he’s being paid millions of dollars to play a game. The schedule means he’s got an average (can’t be bothered working it out properly) of 23 hours a day to work on his game. There’s absolutely no reason why his shot isn’t better.
