The Rockets have made a qualifying offer to Armoni Brooks, tweets Kelly Iko of The Athletic. The offer means Brooks will be restricted when free agency begins on Monday.
The 23-year-old shooting guard signed a two-way contract with Houston in early April. He averaged 11.2 points in 20 games, starting five times, and proved to be an effective three-point threat, connecting at 38.2% from behind the arc.
Brooks played three seasons in the G League after going undrafted out of the University of Houston in 2019. He posted a 16.8/3.7/3.3 line this season with Rio Grande Valley, the Rockets’ G League affiliate.
Because Brooks was a two-way player with just one season in Houston, he received a one-year, two-way qualifying offer with a $50K guarantee.
He’s an underrated shooting guard. Think of a poor man’s Lou Williams.
Brooks played well towards the end of the season once the team went into tank mode. He has a good chance of filling the team’s other 2-way slot after they already agreed to terms with Matthew Hurt yesterday.
Wallywood?
You should’ve done GreenWood PorterHouse hahaha
If this is true…just wow
Poor man for a Poor Team …..
Will never improve till you move Wood.
I usually like ur takes but this one I don’t. I like Brooks. I think he’s got Alec Burkes vibes. Never going to b a starter, unless it’s a spot start with a couple injuries. But he’s a solid bench guy.
I do agree they need to try to get a couple picks and maybe a young lottery ticket guy for wood. Call up the Lakers and try to get THT or the Celtics to try to get Nesmith or Langford and Williams who fit the young cores timeline better.
Houston did well with the Porter Jr flyer, getting Tate and Brooks as I drafted guys last year. And getting Green, Sengun, Usman and Christopher this draft. Plus they got a steal in Kenyon Martin Jr. that’s 8 guys who should get big minutes next year and c who fits with who and who’s keepers. They will b fun to watch even tho they r going to get killed this year. Gunna b a race to the draft next year between them and OKC for Holmgren and Banchero.
