Two Atlantic Division rivals are among the teams that may try to lure free agent swingman Reggie Bullock away from the Knicks, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post.
A source tells Berman that the Celtics and Sixers have expressed interest in Bullock, and the Lakers may also get involved. Bullock played alongside LeBron James in L.A. during the 2018/19 season.
Bullock prefers to stay in New York, Berman adds, but he’s hoping for a three-year contract worth in the neighborhood of the full mid-level exception ($9MM+). The Knicks have Early Bird rights on Bullock, so they can go above the cap to re-sign him after using their space. They’ll likely be able to offer up to about $10.3MM for the first year, according to Berman.
Bullock became a dependable contributor during his second year with the team, starting 64 of the 65 games he played and averaging 10.9 PPG per night while shooting 41% from three-point range. However, a disappointing playoff performance may have dragged down his value.
The Knicks have other options if they don’t re-sign Bullock, although they may be much more expensive, Berman adds. Coach Tom Thibodeau is a fan of Trail Blazers guard Norman Powell, who opted out of his contract Tuesday, and New York has also expressed interest in Warriors forward Kelly Oubre.
Berman suggests the Knicks might be willing to match a minimal offer to restricted free agent Frank Ntilikina if they lose Bullock. Ntilikina didn’t play much in Thibodeau’s first season with the team, but a source tells Berman that the Knicks haven’t ruled out a possible return.
IMO
Bullock
Market value 3 year $35 million
If Knicks want to keep Rose and Bullock, they have about $18 million cap room left
Edit
According to reporters
Knicks will keep 3 players
Rose
Noel
Bullock
Cap hold for 3 players $22 million
Knicks still have $28 million to spend on free agency
It’s not a good idea if you want the players Knicks want to keep because those 3 teams are on tax land
Three years and $35 million seems way too high to me. I like him but he’s a 3 and D guy who can’t do much else. I honestly think he’s a bench player and not a starter.
My valuation and evaluation are always high because market value is overpaid
The hotter goods, the higher value
There’s nothing hot about a shooter who starts and averages 10ppg. He’s a bench player and anything over $7 per is an overpay. Knicks should let him walk.
Reggie was a key player last yr. But he’s not worth big money to us. A contender can overpay for him. Knicks with their picks will be fine. Bullock would be a backup next yr. I’m sure he’d rather be a backup for a contender. I know Thibs is hot for Powell. So it’s not a big loss for us. But a sign and trade makes sense to me. Since we have his rights. Noel is another guy who deserves a payday. With Mitch back next yr. Noel can also help a contender. Wish them both the best. With our picks we can replace both. Signing Powell would be a huge upgrade for Knicks. Sign Powell and Dinwiddie. Yeeeeeessssss
Agreed. Lets keep our cap for next yr. Sign 1 mid tier PG, i prefer Graham, but Dinwiddie is serviceable
this dude sucks lmao he always makes clumsy ass plays and bricks all his 3’s
It’s so easy to chk stats. You should really try it before posting. I’m sure contenders are eyeing him cause of your excellent scouting.
3 point field goal
Norman Powell 36%
Bullock 41%
Powell has gotten better every yr. he played more mins and avg 17 pts. His FG% is better his FT% is better and he also plays D. Both good 3PT shooters. Powell a better scorer who handles ball too. Powell is a guard and Reggie is a wing. Powell is a starter and Reggie is a backup. Not about one yr one stat.
Powell market value 4 year $80 million
See my post a few days ago
I regard both Bullock and Powell as wings
You’re so off…
lmao i watched him play many games. maybe stop assuming
You still here. The guys a backup who always took hardest D assignment. Who started for us last yr. he shot 90% FT and 41% 3PT . WTFare you
They haven’t treated Frank well. Don’t get why they would want him back. I guess if they lose Reggie it helps him. But it will cost 10 mill to pick up his last yr. For all the Frank Haters on this board. And You Know Who You Are. France is playing USA Sunday. Please watch and tell us why he doesn’t belong in the NBA. This is actually a showcase for Frank. He can let another team see what they can take a chance on. Suns Payne was also given up at 22 yrs old. He’s 26 now and has resurrected his NBA career. Frank has a place in NBA. Someone will get it right. I know Knicks haven’t.
I’m not a Frank hater nor do I like him. But man it’s so funny how extreme the lovers and haters both are for him.
Any real Knick fan. And I’m as Real as they come. Will tell you he is talented. But has not been developed by team. He got caught in transition of diss functional Knicks management. And never found his way. Plenty of talent gets lost in NY for many reasons. But when the team that drafts you never helps you. It’s just asinine. They just threw away a big asset. Casual fans can’t see talent. And love to jump on hate wagon.
Just watch him play. And see for yourself if he can’t help a team. Frank should of been in G-league for first two yrs. He was one of youngest in his draft. Not easy to be 18 and fulfill NY expectations.
Knicks need to get Sexton
Sexton Barrett Oubre Randle and Robinson plus some vets.
They currently have the 19th, 21st, 32nd and 58th picks in the draft.
They’d likely have to give up the 19th and 58th for Sexton. With the 21st I’d actually try trade back and I’d swap the 21st for they Nets, 27th and 44th.
Leaving the Knicks with the 27th, 32nd and 44th.
I’d then draft Isiah Todd, Tre Mann and Aaron Wiggins.
Leaving them with something like this with some FA signings.
1. Sexton. Rose. Mann
2. Barrett. Quickley. Wiggins
3. Oubre. Winslow
4. Randle. Todd
5. Noel. Robinson. Pelle
That would be horrible. Would make me think Isaiah Thomas was the GM again.
IMO I would consider DeRozan and trading for Sexton. Sexton, DeRozan, RJ, Randle, and Mitch. Hopefully have Burks, Rose, Noel come back. I don’t think DeRozan wants to come to NY. I would even consider trading Randle since his value will never be higher and start OB1. OB1 I think is more athletic than Randle.
Noel would NEVER start over a healthy Mitchell Robinson smh.
A Reggie Bullock signing would leave me whelmed.
Bullock seems like a great role player who can shoot the lights out. He seems like a average maybe even below average defender.
That’s what I mean. I’m not really underwhelmed. I’m certainly not overwhelmed. I’m just whelmed.
Bullock needs to be resigned (unless the price is ridiculous, which it won’t be). The 2k’ers may not like it, but that’s more evidence it’s the right thing to do. Bullock is our only plus defender on the perimeter (other than guys who won’t be back), and he fits our system. Of course, contenders are interested in him, and I expect him to have his choice of MLE offers. We should be right there, but shouldn’t have to make the market.
There are draft picks that can give us what Reggie gave us. And with bigger upside. We need to spend our money, cap on a Serious scorer and a serious PG. That’s where we need Most help . That upgrades team exponentially. We need two Starters. That’s the emphasis this yr. Burkes, Rose, Bullock are backups. And they make us deep. But we don’t overpay to keep Reggie. Best thing we can do is a sign trade. Both Noel and Reggie deserve a payday. Happy for them
