The idea of Nets free agent Spencer Dinwiddie replacing Russell Westbrook as the Wizards‘ point guard seems to be gaining momentum.
After multiple reporters mentioned the Dinwiddie-to-D.C. possibility earlier in the week, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer writes today that with Chris Paul likely to return to the Suns, Dinwiddie is expected to be the next free agent point guard off the board. A sign-and-trade that sends either Kyle Kuzma or Montrezl Harrell to the Nets and Dinwiddie to the Wizards is a real possibility, Fischer suggests.
Fischer adds that the Nets are continuing to look for ways to move off of DeAndre Jordan‘s contract.
We have more free agency rumors:
- According to Zach Lowe of ESPN neither the Wizards nor the Kings are interested in a sign-and-trade for Dennis Schröder. That means Buddy Hield may be out as an option for the Lakers, and it will be a challenge to expand the Lakers/Wizards blockbuster any further using Schröder. As Lowe notes, a handful of teams in need of a point guard have ample cap space, so there will be few paths for the Lakers to recoup value for losing Schröder.
- Kelly Oubre has interest in the Spurs and believes his career could flourish under Gregg Popovich and the team’s renowned development staff, writes Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express-News. If the Spurs renounce some of their current free agents, they’d have more than enough space to make a big free agent signing, though it’s unclear whether Oubre would be at the top of their list, especially given his skill-set/positional overlap with Keldon Johnson.
- The Mavericks are leaning toward picking up the $4.1MM team option on center Willie Cauley-Stein, which would keep him off the free agent market, tweets ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. MacMahon writes that Dallas likes the young rim-running big man, but the decision will ultimately hinge on whether or not an opportunity comes up that requires the team to move on from Cauley-Stein.
Oubre is gone
If trading away Wiggins
Warriors have 3 grandpas and 3 babies
6 man rotation
Grandpa
Curry, Klay, Green
Baby, nba age
Wiseman 0.5
Kuminga 0
Moody 0
What the hell are they doing?
They’re looking for three more Grandpa’s. Two big men and a guard.
Iggy + S&T Oubre for Patty & Rudy Gay
What in green hell did I just read?
Schroeder has little trade value because he wants market value
Who would Raptors want if SNT Lowry?
Whatever they can get. There are teams that have the cap room to sign Lowry outright. Lowry determines his next team, and that decision determines what the Raptors could even get in a SnT. Obviously, there’s no reason for them to participate in a SnT if they don’t get anything of value in return, but even a little asset is better than nothing.
My prediction for Chris Paul 3 year contract
34m
32m
29m
Total $95 million
prediction… really… 3 years for 90 was written couple hours ago for Paul. Smh
Exactly.
His last prediction for Paul’s salary took up three more lines, so this is an improvement.
Still way too much for a 36-year old player, the Suns missed their chance.
Thanks Captain obvious for the prediction. What next your reporting Mike Conley’s 3 and $75 contract?
Sillivan has been on another level lately with his obsurdity
He needs to start taking his meds.
Would GSW be interested in DeAndre Jordan?
I know he stunk it up last year but he’s still a solid veteran centre in the locker room. He was very efficient from the field, he gets blocks and boards. He could be solid helping teach Wiseman and sharing the centre role with him.
Sign and trade Oubre for Jordan and a second or something
I think perhaps they would be if they were sniffing a championship and thin at the center position. Even then I think he makes too much money to be attractive. I don’t think he played much for the Nets in the playoffs. His time might be over.
He had a decent regular season last year, but he’s another guy who can’t make a free throw so you can’t have him on the floor in the fourth quarter and he doesn’t do enough anymore for the rest of the game either.
Lastly, with that contract you have to ship out 10 million dollars just to acquire him because I don’t think the Nets are ready to buy him out yet and still have his money count on the books. They’re hoping for a taker somehow.
He’s done. He was never much of a basketball player, and with his physicality now pedestrian by league standards, he’s not an asset. BKN only signed him because he’s FOK, and S&T opened up a path.
I think they would be interested but at basically $10 mil a year idk who would want to take a gamble on that.. other than OKC for a pick of course.
Wondering how Schroeder feels right now about that $80M he turned down.
Probably not too good, but the greater message should be to players of his ilk moving forward not to be be soooo greedy
I think these checks and balances are good for the league…It has been veering too much in the direction of the players calling all the shots (w min repercussions)
Now if your a star, you still can, but a guy like Dennis shouldn’t be able to demand heaven and Earth to be moved for him and there should be ramifications for being greedy just as there are ramifications for teams who ink a player to a bad deal
If he can pull a similar offer from NYK or Dallas, probably pretty good.
His AAV might stay high but I doubt he’s getting 4 guaranteed years now – 3/60 w a faux 4th year so when it’s announced it looks like a 4/80 and not an egg on face moment seems likelier now
I’ve been fauxing forth for some time now. ;)
I’m surprised I have not read of teams interested in Shroder’s cheaper alternative, Reggie Jackson.
They are, but Bullock Reggie might be more obtainable w T-MLE (Both will get more neway) but it’s nice to start talks high before we get to the dreadful Kyle Korver chatters of Sept
Lakers should have moved Schroeder first. Cause now no one is giving up much. He’s a good backup at best.
Why would Wizards give everyone they got for Westbrook for Dinwiddie. They can get more for Kuzma alone and Harrell alone. Who writes this stuff.
Nets signed David Duke to SL team. Can believe he was undrafted. Knicks blew that #58 pick.
Yes in hindsight they should have Al but they were geared up for the playoffs and he was playing a key role. There’s no way you could dump him at the deadline and still have the horses necessary for a playoff run. You wouldn’t have received equal value because Schroeder was a rental.
No I mean before getting Westbrook. Sorry should of made that clear. Cause now he’s gotta go. So why would you trade for him. Don’t count out Lakers just yet. Vets will ring chase with them .
Okay I hear you, but isn’t Schroeder a free agent? You mean sign and trade for another asset? Okay I get you. Yeah that makes sense, but I’m not sure Schroeder would play along with that. Good idea though. But yes I was thinking trading deadline because they still had him under control at that time, unless I missed something.
They have his Bird rights. So his biggest deal will come in sign n trade. But now his value is devalued imo. Should of moved him first. Then traded for Westbrook.
Dennis can just walk imo, there’s no surplus value in a S&T w him unless they just happen to luck out into a team w no cap and enough need/desire to want to give value itself for him …. I dont see it …maybe Lakes attach 27′ unprotected as well for bait but Genie’s purse only runs sooo deep and Caruso/THT need tending too…
Think he just straight walks and we grab the door for him on the way out with a smile. Will be interesting to see the Westbrook trade upon finalization tho; some totally weird teams could actually jump in this thing as a 3rd / 4th team in a week w there own agendas
I’m not sure, they could’ve gotten much more. Kuz is intriguing with the right coaching staff and Harrell is nice but on a 1 year deal. Spencer D is fair considering his injury and upside. Idk what else they could’ve gotten especially considering now a logjam at Forward/Center and major holes at PG and SG. I would’ve rather Kept the pick instead of holiday but I get the move. They had no choice but to make a move to improve defensively and playmaking wise. Now find a dance partner for Bertans and that contract.
The Knicks seem like they are just waiting things out, even if it means missing on a few young contributors.
Warrior haters wake up early looking begging bad news but there is none in this article. Kelly Oubre only had a handful of good games, and a good number of horrible games while mainly playing average especially on offense. Us losing him won’t effect our run at all, he’s an average starter at best but realistically more of a bench guy.
Only early by west coast standards, it’s late everywhere else.
Our new rookie replaces Kelly oubre. 6-7 wing and dunker who shows flashes of dynamic athleticism. The hope is that Kuminga will develop and I think he will. It sounds like he’s prepared to work for it and wants it.
Run to what? The 6th seed…
And as far as Kuminga goes, he will be lucky to get in the rotation year 1.
As a wizards fan, Oubre is who we thought he is. A talented wing whom believes and plays like he is better than he shows. Someone will sign him def not for $20+ million. I’d rather take a undrafted guy or 2nd round and groom him. I agree, Def not a loss considering they draft netted them two replacements.
Lately Oubre has said he would like to play for several teams. He probably turned off a lot asking for $20 million. Maybe he and Schroeder can form a team of “ what we were thinking” this is Richard Sherman all over again.
Obrue is a sign n trade guy. That helps Warriors immensely. You don’t mess that up. Like Lakers messed up Schroeder trade now.
I’m guessing Schroeder still get 4/80 from the Lakers but he’ll go to a team that’s looking to dump a salary.
That could work . Good point
