The Heat have extended qualifying offers to Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn, Gabe Vincent and Max Strus, making the quartet restricted free agents, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald tweets.
The QOs for Robinson and Nunn are worth $4.736MM apiece, while Vincent’s QO is $1.67MM and Strus’ would be another two-way deal. Vincent’s offer includes an $84K guarantee as a two-way player over the last two seasons, while Strus’ guarantee would be $50K, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel notes.
Robinson will be one of the hottest restricted free agents on the market, and Nunn will also likely attract interest from multiple suitors. Miami will have to right to match offer sheets on both of those wing players.
The Heat still need to decide whether to exercise their options on the contracts of Goran Dragic ($19.4MM), Andre Iguodala ($15MM) and Omer Yurtseven ($1.5MM) by 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Sounds like a mess and noone signed from the Undrafted pool while teams who had draft picks already have and both Nets and Sixers found ways to improve. Where are you Pat?
Um the heat signed like 6 undrafted rookies and these QO’s were all extremely expected…. where are you KnickHeat?
Heat singled 8 guys that Om aware of. Havent looked at all of them, but just the little over seen from a couple of them, I see Heat DNA.
*sigh* (obviously) *signed
Just saw that…oops! Hoping Pat finds a gem or 2.
That’s a hard decision for Miami. Do we want to pay a 37-year old player who averages 4.5 PPG on 38% shooting $15M for the second year in a row? I dunno.
Heat need to start making moves.
Would be a bad offseason if they just commit or of money to Robinson, Nunn and other young guys.
I suggest they sign and trade Robinson for Lowry.
Then Dragic for Powell and Finney-Smith.
And hopefully enough money for a PF in FA such as Millsap, Green or Morris
Leaving them with something like
1. Lowry. Nunn
2. Oladipo. Herro
3. Butler. Ariza. Okpala
4. Millsap/Green/Morris. Finney-Smith
5. Bam. Powell
Only reason the Heat didnt trade for Lowry is they wanted Robinson. I’d much rather trade Herro for him, and I think they would have if Toronto didnt want Robinson too
No way definitely disagree. Robinson is way to overrated, he’s already 27 and averages 13-3-2.
Herro is 21 and in his rookie year averaged more points, rebounds and assists than Robinson ever has. Herro set career highs in everything this year and has a real high ceiling and brings a lot to the locker room.
Robinson is going to get about 15mil a season in his new deal, May aswell get Lowry who is an upgrade and will cost about the same.
Herro is still on his rookie deal paying him 4mil a year for another 3 years.
Not to mention you can probably bring back Oladipo at SG for next to nothing next season.
Either way You’d be stupid to trade Herro over Robinson
We dont know what Oladipo is going to look like, and if you dont realize how valuable Duncan Robinson is to this team, you have never watched a single Miami Heat game or looked at their team numbers for a single second
As of now, it’s more likely both stay. Last year, that was 100% what happened. The Raptors wanted Rovinson too, as did Houston. That’s why Tyker Herro is still here. I’m just saying, if we’re talking about current ability, and impact on the Miami Heat, those other guys are better, as the roster is currently constructed. If they change the entire roster, that might be a different story. In a couple of years, that might be a different story regardless…
Personally, I’m not sure it makes sense to pay Herro after next year, unless he drastically improves. And next year is his 3rd year, meaning they pay him minimum for this coming year, and 1 more, not 3 more years. Obviously that is valuable, which is why he is likely staying for now…but as I said, that’s dependent on the rest of the roster
Also, 1 of the reasons I said that’s likely it for Nunn is they brought in a bunch of 2 way potential guards for summer league, who will also be on minimum deals
“I’m not sure it makes sense to it Herro after next year unless he drastically improves” he’s on a rookie deal getting 4 mil a season for the next couple years. But your willing to pay Robinson 15mil or so even tho he’s 6 years older and averages worse numbers, it doesn’t make sense.
Herro from rookie year to this year improved in almost every single category, whereas Robinson has always done the same thing 13-4-2 or whatever. Herro has all star potential, he’s only 21 averaging 15-5-3, give him 2 more years he will be 23 averaging 20-5-5
You have no reading comprehension
Get ahead of the curve and sign Duncan Robinson to 4 years/$68 million before someone offers him a wonky deal. Cant lose him, of anyone
My guess is Strus is back, and as I’ve previously said, I prefer Nunn to Herro, but the guys they brought in for summer league make me think this is it for Nunn, Vincent, and (hopefully not) potentially Dragic, and even possibly Herro, depending on other moves. I also think they’re looking for insurance in case they lose Iguodala, who I really hope they dont lose.
Will be nice to have summer league and full training camps back this year b/c I felt like that was missing last year, and the guys they brought in didnt get as much of a chance as you may have liked b/c of it. With the possibility that Okpala, Achiuwa, Strus, all of these guys they brought in are going to play, that should be a fun team to watch
As for the rest of their moves, I’ll just leave the same stuff I’ve been saying since they were eliminated, some of which is a little redundant with what I just said…
“Still waiting on options and non guaranteed contracts, but obviously, besides health, and just not going cold against a team that didnt necessarily play great defense against them, and kind of lucked out on certain guys missing bread and butter looks, the Heat need to address someone that can guard the guard spot, another wing piece (both of which they’ve brought in to summer league to get looks at), which especially matters depending on Andre Iguodala and/or Trevor Ariza, another piece at the 4 that can defend, and preferably knock down shots, and if they can have some size that would be helpful, and a big that can space the floor, and hopefully give them adequate defense to replace Olynyk, especially after not using Bjelica in a matchup they needed him in, for whatever reason…
Obviously depends on what happens with their young guys, and who they potentially trade/dont keep. Curious what they do with guys like Achiuwa and Okpala, besides the obvious guards. Those guys could go in a trade, and they weren’t used for some reason in a matchup where they may have been useful, so moving them or not, those positions may be more important than they already are. I personally would still consider trading Tyler Herro, as I would have a few months ago. If I had to keep 1 of him or Nunn, I would keep Nunn, but depends on what either could get in a trade, or who else they might grab, and if they keep Dragic. I really want Dragic to end his career with the Heat, so I’ll be really sad if he goes, but it might depend on what else happens
I really hope they dont lose Duncan Robinson. He is extremely important. You can probably find a way to either spread out that shooting, or maybe develop other pieces, but I feel like he is very valuable, and I wouldn’t want to trade him for anything but specific valuable pieces. Hopefully they can offer him enough to take away the risk of someone giving him a wonky deal, outside of just money, that makes it tough to match. The Heat has Max Strus on a 2 way deal, and he is interesting to potentially fill some of that spot, but I think it’s worth keeping Duncan Robinson barring a really significant roster change. Hopefully something in the 4 year/$68 million range is doable
Not necessarily in order, but I could see a few of these guys being real options/potential targets, assuming status. Some of those guys are obviously easier to get…I personally doubt Kawhi Leonard moves, but obviously he would change a lot of the scenarios. That being said, I think the same needs would still exist, so the idea of lower cost options at those spots could be nice. I would imagine the Heat would also consider retaining flexibility, as not offering years may have cost them this year, so they could be holding out for someone worth going after to give that up. It’s been said time and time again, but going into last offseason, they needed to keep at least 1 of Crowder and Derrick Jones jr, and they lost both, and not for lack of offering money, but b/c of years, which is unfortunate b/c those guys would have been movable if necessary
Paul Millsap is still an obvious target, among others, Serge Ibaka could be nice if he leaves the Clippers. If Marc Gasol became available, he would be so perfect, but I doubt he leaves the Lakers. Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, Josh Hart, Tony Snell, Torrey Craig, Josh Richardson, Sterling Brown, Rudy Gay, Justise Winslow, JaMychal Green, James Johnson, Solomon Hill, Frank Ntilikina, Shaq Harrison, Lonzo Ball, Isaac Bonga, Kelly Olynyk, Noah Vonleh, Bobby Portis, Harry Giles, Thon Maker, Frank Kaminsky, Moe Wagner, Dwight Howard, Jeremiah Martin, Kris Dunn”
No one is reading all that. But you prefer Robinson over Herro and you prefer Nunn over Herro.
Are you delusional?
Robinson is 27, going to demand 15mil a season minimum and averages 13-3-2.
Nunn is about to be 26, is going to need a new deal also but I like his averages.
Herro is still on his rookie deal paying him 4mil a season for another 3 years or so. He’s only 21 and has a super high ceiling. He just improved in almost every statistically category this year. And of the three has the highest average points, rebounds and assists.
Plus the Heat before they do anything more in the offseason they should sign and trade Robinson for Lowry. Lowry last year gave the Raptors 17-7-5, with almost the exact same efficiency as Robinson. He is a NBA champion, 6 time all star and has made All NBA teams. The Heat need his playmaking, leadership and shooting. He’s also a mate of Jimmy Butlers and would probably work well in the locker room.
Once that’s done it’s about sorting out PF. Possibly a trade using Dragics 19mil deal, or Iggys 15mil deal. They could use Nunn in a sign and trade, although I’d rather they kept him. Or they could just simply use FA.
Either way Miami get Lowry and give up Robinson. They look at a PF
I dont care about counting stats. In a couple of years, might Herro be more valuable, probably. For this current team, Robinson is arguably the most important piece outside of Bam And Butler. Currently Nunn is twice as good as Herro. In terms of how the team plays with certain lineups, Herro isnt as productive for them as the others.
Again, I’ll be fine if they keep Herro, and let him keep developing, especially if they can add the pieces they need around the rest of the team, but those are still facts
I’m not saying 1000% trade Herro right now. I’m saying that last season, if I had to trade Herro for Lowry I would have done it 10000 times out of 10000. I would not have done it if it included Duncan Robinson, unless OG Anunoby was also in the deal, which wouldnt happen
Also they have enough cap space to sign Lowry outright, which is the other main reaso. They didnt ultimately trade for him…so this idea they have to sign and trade for him, losing an extremely important piece, and hard cap themselves again makes no sense
I really sorry but I can’t be bothered replying to you cause your wrong.
Nunn is twice as good as Herro
Herro isnt as productive as others
I just cant
If we’re talking about the future, that’s a different conversation, as I said multiple times, but you have no reading comprehension. As for what has been reality, I havent said anything that isnt 1000% factual
Heat need to go get Drummond and Howard. So bam can play the 4. We are to damn short. We get out rebound we don’t have a shot blocker. Don’t no one want a old ass lowery. When u got the big fishes going be free agencies next yr like Durant harden curry kyrie. Them are game changer.
Drummond isnt good. We already dealt with Whiteside once. And if Bam is going to see minutes at the 4, you need a floor spacing big next to him. You only need that post defending, rebounding contributor big for 8-12 minutes a game in certain matchups
Also, Lowry is still one of the best 2 way guards in the NBA and we’ve been missing someone that can defend that guard spot the last couple of years…more size/defense at the 4 next to Bam is where we need the help size size more than anything, which is why Milsap is the perfect fit
Don’t no one want old ass Lowry.
Well your wrong about 5 teams or so actually want him.
Secondly Bam at the 4 with Drummond or Howard would be absolutely terrible for your spacing. The reason your getting out rebounded is cause Bam is a small 5, Butler is a small 3, and you have long had a solid 4 in years.
Not that it will happen but if you were to trade say Dragic, Iggy and then a young player or draft pick for Kevin Love, you fix a lot of issues. Love would bring some height, he’s a good rebounder, he doesn’t mess up the spacing cause he can nail threes, he’s got championship experience. He’s the kind of player the Heat need, a 4 that can rebound and hit 3’s.
Now obviously Love is old and owed 30 mil a season so you may not want him but that’s the area you need to fill. Maybe Millsap, maybe JaMychal Green
Except what are the odds of Love staying healthy?
If it were Kevin Love from 4 or 5 years ago…
You suggest him, but trash on Duncan Robinson, when he has essentially been Klay Thompson his first couple of years
