Undrafted rookie Jaquori McLaughlin has reached an agreement with the Warriors, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. He doesn’t specify the type of contract that McLaughlin will receive, but it may be an Exhibit 10 deal, which is commonly given to camp invitees.
The 6’4″ point guard played two years at Oregon State before transferring to UC Santa Barbara for the last three seasons. He was named Big West Player of the Year as a senior after averaging 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 48.8% from the field and 40.8% from three-point range.
McLaughlin’s contract with Golden State can become official when the 2021/22 league year starts next week.
I m surprised GSW didn’t make any trades with their draft picks. It shows that not much was available on the trade market and the over value price of many all stars.
I agree with you that the stars were just not available. I think the Warriors tried the best they could to pry one loose.
This free agent period will be huge. The Warriors need a MINIMUM of three guys that can play playoff minutes. Perhaps two big men and one guard. I think they have the wings covered.
Then comes the trading deadline. If Andrew Wiggins is still in San Francisco the day after the trading deadline I will crawl in a hole and not come out. I can’t watch another full season of Andrew Wiggins. They hyped him up and he played pretty darn well this last season.., I can’t believe they weren’t able to dump him. If he regresses at all first half of the season this will be another joke of a year.
Last thought, perhaps a deal can be made between now and opening day. Occasionally training camp helps to sort out rosters and Expendables. But this free agent time right now is important in a major way for the Golden State Warriors.
Oubre will be a thing to watch if he is about more money they might be able to do a sign and trade. They should put aside some of their money for a center because Looney and Wiseman do not have the big body to go against some of the bruisers in the league.
Kuminga will be better than Jaylen Brown after one year
He has a nba perfect body and top 5 athletism and quickness
His weakness is shooting but he has a soft touch
I hope so Sillivan. I see him more as a Kelley Oubre replacement. Doesn’t mind coming off the bench and will provide that Wing athleticism that Oubre brought. Moses Moody will be perhaps like Khris Middleton if he develops properly?
His major flag is his LACK of touch/feel. Sure he has touch around the rim, however he breaks into his moves instead of moving the ball when he needs to. Kuminga is just as far away from NBA contributor as Wiseman. The only thing that could help him, is his athleticism on a team with 34yo Steph, 32yo’s Dray/Klay. Two, long, athletic wings to run up and down the court and defend have been Golden state’s priority. If they could’ve traded 7 and a future pick for Saddiq Bey I would’ve done it. If they could’ve traded Wigs+2 lotto picks and Wiseman for Jerami Grant, Saddiq Bey and Mason Plumlee, that’d be a win as it gives Golden states two big wings that can defend other big wings(LeBron/Tatum/Kawhi/PG/Giannis/Cunningham types). But trading Wigs and every asset for Siakam didn’t make as much sense as trading every asset BUT Wigs for Siakam, and then being able to run out a Steph/Klay/Wigs/Siakam/Draymond five, which would be an elite defense for sure. Even if they could’ve got Ben Simmons and RoCo/Derrick Jones in a 3 team trade with Portland where they get Wiseman and our picks.
I believe the whole “Dray and Ben can’t play together because spacing” argument is BS, as Dray’s played in elite lineups with Livingston/Iggy/West/JaVale/Zaza/and Looney! Simmons is effectively a younger, more athletic, Kevon Looney that’s better in every way. HOWEVER, trading literally Wiggins, Wiseman, both lotto picks AND two future 1st rounders(the trade GS turned down) wouldn’t make sense bc losing all their assets for one guy wouldn’t help them. Having future 1st round picks to make other moves is a huge deal.
There definitely wasn’t much on the trade market for us and for sure we didn’t want Westbrick
I think this means they’re trading Moody and Kuminga for Siakam.
More likely to be Wiseman+Kuminga IMO, as the money doesn’t come close without Kuminga, Wiseman, and Oubre(sign and trade). Wiggins contract is about $4m less than Siakam’s, so the dubs would either be trading Wiggins+Wiseman for like, Siakam+Boucher, or a Wiseman/Wigs/Kuminga package, or a Wiseman/Kuminga/Oubre package. They could very well want to roll out FVV/Gary Trent/Anunoby/Siakam/Boucher with Scottie Barnes as the small ball 5 on court with Siakam to help with wing defense, they’d be looking at a top 5 defense if they do nothing.
The rich get richer
Like I said he would, Myers did nothing, just let the little kid inside of him gobble up two young wings like candy.
So much for the Steph Curry window.
It is true Kuminga & Moody at 7&14 is a great haul and value. People like to say GSW rose as a young wingy team… rise by it, suffer by it.
