It’s unlikely the Kings could put together a trade package that would allow them to acquire Ben Simmons from the Sixers, according to James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area. Philadelphia is seeking an All-Star caliber player for Simmons and Sacramento is unlikely to make Tyrese Haliburton or De’Aaron Fox available.
Ham speculates the Kings could try to package Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley and the No. 9 overall pick or Harrison Barnes, Bagley and the same pick and see if Philadelphia would be interested.
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- The Warriors can take their cue from the Suns in order to get the most out of James Wiseman, Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area writes. Deandre Ayton is a major reason why Phoenix advanced to the Finals, mainly due to the fact he’s become a prolific rebounder while getting fewer touches on offense. The Warriors need their bigs to thrive near the rim and help them get extra possessions, and that should be Wiseman’s main focus, Andrews adds.
- Suns assistant Willie Green is reportedly a candidate for all three remaining head coaching jobs around the league and Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic takes a closer look at how Green would fit in with the Wizards, Pelicans and Magic. Green isn’t in a rush to get a head coaching job. “It’s definitely a goal, but I don’t feel like a need to chase that goal,” he said.
- With Draymond Green playing for Team USA and Steve Kerr on the coaching staff, the Warriors could reap long-term benefits by building relationships with star players that could eventually land in Golden State, Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area speculates. The Olympics present a low-key method for franchises to recruit players, Poole adds.
Trading Wiseman would be a big mistake in the long run. All big tall centers take time to adjust and learn the NBA unlike smaller players. Look at all the good centers in the NBA all struggled the first few years. Even Zion who was the next big star had a bad year last year.
Zion 1.) isn’t a center and 2.) posted the best PER for someone his age since LeBron James.
Also, centers have never been less essential than they are now.
Using Ayton as a harbinger for centers to come is dubious for a variety of reasons: for one it ignores the DPOY Rudy Gobert who very publicly flamed out this post season.
It also ignores the historic amount of star players who have been injured during Phoenix’s run.
It also ignores the long history of big men who flame out for a variety of reasons (increased chance of injury, playing “just because they’re tall” etc)
Every year has tons of players injured in the playoffs, because you believe what someone else’s rankings of star is doesn’t make this post season different than any other, perhaps some of the younger guys who like to rest all season needed to build their bodies up to handle the grind of winning a championship, centers are important and having an elite big man is a game changer, AD is on another level when he plays and you can say he plays the 4 blah blah, he’s a stretch big man and if wiseman can become that trading him now is reckless at best
Every year has injuries to LeBron, AD, Murray, Giannis, Trae, Kawhi, Mitchell, Kyrie, Harden … should I go on? I just named 75% of an All Star team. All due respect to Phoenix – they still won the games but this year is an outlier.
Yet either way, what you think Wiseman could become is irrelevant in this case — Golden State has one of the best players of all time at the end of his prime. You don’t mortgage a potential ring now to see if Wiseman can be a poor man’s Anthony Davis in 2026.
That is the question. Do you want a possible franchise ceiling 3-5 years from now, or trade tht upside to win in the years prior to reaching that ceiling, as you cannot expect a 37/38yo Steph Curry to be what he is now, at 33.
Sure he could be a rich man’s Jason Terry/JJ Redick with Klay as a rich man’s Kyle Korver, but It works better if they were to add a star NOW that’s under 24. Say, Brandon Ingram(just for example, I understand it’s unlikely). Ingram is a SF that can play KD on offense, and could takeover in 4 years when Steph is older. He’d be just 27yo, still have a 5+ year prime left when Wiseman BEGINS his prime.
Of course wings like Ingram aren’t a dime a dozen, so it’s highly unlikely they acquire him. Turner and Warren is more likely. Even Jonathan Isaac or Cam Reddish. Honestly they would’ve been better off(taking LaMelo!) trading back and acquiring a veteran big like Drummond and the 12th pick, and selecting Saddiq Bey as opposed to trading for a veteran wing(Oubre) and selecting a big(Wiseman).
Bey was one of my favorites going into the draft, and I’d still love to have him. If he was 19 when the draft came around, he’d have been a top 10 pick, however I believe he was 22, so 12-17 was more likely. When I saw him go to Brooklyn at 19 overall my head was in my hands.
He reminded me of Robert Covington with a higher ceiling, like RoCo is that kid’s floor.
Now he’ll be with Hayes, Grant and possibly Cade Cunningham for the foreseeable future.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Warriors even went after Jerami Grant, however Detroit doesn’t NEED to trade him, they could ride out and have him be their veteran whenever Hayes/Stewart/Bey/Cade/Sekou are ready for playoffs. I don’t think it’s impossible for Detroit to want a Hayes-Bey-Cade-Stewart/Sekou-Wiseman
Lineup with everyone under 23, but who knows♂️
It all goes back to Andrew Wiggins. Is he THAT bad to where trading a Wiseman, a Poole, perhaps Toscano Anderson and lottery picks to upgrade from him? For a Jerami Grant/TJ Warren//Pascal Siakam?
I mean sure if they can get a Josh Richardson, Dorian Finney Smith and Maxi Kleber for Wiggins and Wiseman, I’d do it.
Wiggins is what Dallas thought they were getting from Richardson, whereas DFS didn’t have as many FGA’s as Wiggins, he’s a high level defender and both were around 1.9/5-2/5.2 from 3PM/3PA per game last year. Kleber fits their offense and gives them a center off the bench with some size.
Wiseman and Luke could be a dominant force for years to come.
I think folks forget how young Luka is, he plays like he’s 27 but he’s only 22.
Wiggins can get his own shot but Is better in that secondary/third role.
I think the Mavs would do well with a guard like Davion Mitchell as well, what’s tough is he’d be a reach at 7 and a steal at 14. But his nickname is Off Night, and he locked up Cade Cunningham in college. Having that sort of speedy two way guard on a team with Luka, Hardaway Jr, Wiggins, KP, and Wiseman, you’re looking at a nice unit moving forward.
Maybe Wagner fits as well, However I know he’s currently seen as more of a defender that CAN hit a 3, whereas Kispert is a 3pt shooter that has some solid size.
It’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out.
I don’t know if Detroit gives up Saddiq Bey for the 7th pick straight up but I’d do that IN A HEARTBEAT. Hell, Oubre sign and trade and we’ll take one of their bloated contracts(if there are any?).
Ideally, Wiseman and 7 get Jerami Grant. This ONLY happens if Detroit is interspersed in building a dominant young core for 2023-2029+.
They could take a Bouknight at 7, at roll out a
Hayes/Cade/Bey/Stewart/Wiseman five and have a bench of James Bouknight, Josh Jackson, Hamidou Diallo, Frank Jackson, Sekou Doumbouya and Mason Plumlee, which provides Dwayne Casey with a lot of flexibility.
Again, you’d have to have Detroit wanting to sacrifice their veteran team leader for a high ceiling big when they already like Isaiah Stewart and with him(6’8), Grant(6’9), Cade(6’8), Hayes(6’5), and Bey(6’7), there’s little need for a 7footer when you have that kind of size and length to switch everything and a Plumlee off the bench.
They’d have to REALLY want a Bouknight/Moody/Jalen-or-Keon Johnson in order to do this, however I don’t think the Warriors would bat an eye at the opportunity to trade their young developing big for a Curry(33)/Klay(31)/Wiggins(26)/Grant(27)/Dray(31) lineup, as that’s arguably better than the Steph/Klay/Iggy/Barnes/Dray one that won 73 games. While there’s no Bogut, Barbosa or Livingston, Looney(25), Poole(22) and Juan Toscano-Anderson(28) aren’t bad rotation guys and they’d still have a chance to nab a Chris Duarte/Wagner/Kispert(or even Davion Mitchell IF he’s still there) at 14, if Detroit doesn’t demand it in the Grant/Wiseman trade
Your 100% right. No way that Ayton is an elite rebounder because they played teams with injuries. Doesn’t matter that he put up those elite rebounding numbers all year, am I right?
You’re* 100% right. Because when he was putting up those regular season numbers everyone was saying “Maybe one day Wiseman can be the next Ayton!!”
Zion was proclaimed to be the next super star and he struggled. Gobert is a defense first player Utah problem was scoring. Wiseman is not a defense first player like Gobert is. GSW problem has been rebounding and struggling against bigger teams. Without Wiseman they will end up getting a scrap heap of big men that will be no factor at all. Don’t do a Marty and claim GSW will get Lillard, Beal, or Simmons.
To repeat: Zion had the best single season for a 20 year old since LeBron. Look at the stats. Only other 20 yr old close is Luka. If that’s struggling then every single young player in the league over the last 20 years has “struggled”.
So you’re taking both sides of the argument then—Wiseman is the next best big man but Golden State won’t get anything of note in return for him? Don’t use Marty as a crutch — no one is suggesting Wiggins for Kawhi here. Frankly, you’re the one who’s making statistically asinine arguments vis-a-vis Zion.
All that said, Wiseman COULD be good. Which is why GSW should sell high on his potential now. Unless you think Curry is just some scrub who can’t win you a ring. I tend to think different and would flip Wiseman’s potential for a win now approach.
Teams will only pay based on what a player has done, not potential. They draft on potential. Big men always struggle their 1st season. Why give on him now? You would only being selling low.
Verifiably false. Minnesota traded Kevin Love – a top 10 player at the time – for the potential of Andrew Wiggins.
Every time a team trades a player for draft picks they’re paying for potential. In fact teams tend to pay a premium for potential. GM’s can stretch their jobs waiting on potential.
Kevin wanted out and demanded a trade to the Cavs. Wiggins was what was offered.
I’m not sure that was the case but I’ll take your word for it.
So Jrue for picks. Anthony Davis for picks. James Harden for picks. Pierce and Garnett for picks. I could go on ….
So all of those trades were not for “potential”?
I mean this is kind of an asinine question in itself— the league’s lifeblood is potential. If potential wasn’t put at a premium then the GM position itself would more or less cease to exist
It wasn’t Wiggins for Love. Minnesota also received Anthony Bennett, 2013 Rookie of the Year, and Thaddeus Young.
Minnesota did receive Anthony Bennett, a player who averaged 4 points and 3 rebounds on 35% shooting in his monstrous rookie season. But I’m sure they traded for his production rather than his potential.
I never said Wiseman will get nothing for GSW. Sounds to me you want to make up excuses. So you think Wiseman value is the highest it will be? I say they are selling low on him if they trade him. I never said Curry is a scrub? Again you make things up to fit your argument. They shouldn’t trade Wiseman unless they get a top star in return. So far I have not heard 1 trade offer worth Wiseman. Simmons? No thanks. Beal? no thanks. So who is this great player they can get for Wiseman and if you say Iggy you get slapped.
“Trading Wiseman would be a big mistake in the long run”
– arc89
It seems to me you were the one who stated unequivocally that trading Wiseman would be a mistake to start this entire thread off.
So let me clarify for the both of us: I don’t think Wiseman’s ceiling is as high as you do, clearly. I also don’t think—regardless of how high his ceiling is—that it’s going to align with Curry’s prime.
So what’s the game plan for Golden State? Hope that Wiseman A) will eventually become an All NBA player like you think he will, but also B) that he’ll become that player next year?
So even you admit that they should at least shop him.
The problem is you think even Beal isn’t good enough. To you Zion is “struggling” — yet James Wiseman, a guy who posted a NEGATIVE 5.4 BPM last year, a mark worse than Dwayne Bacon and Theo Maledon, he’s the guy you want to ride with for Curry’s twilight prime years?
Good luck to you, my friend. I hope for your sake Golden State’s FO thinks differently than you.
@arc89 I think Marty & BS69 are the same person. They make ridiculous arguments. Marty thinks that Jordan Poole went from a draft bust to a candidate for 6th Man of the Year award in just 11 games in Santa Cruz. He really believes that Wiseman can jump, from High School to the Pros, after not playing competitive basketball for over a year, and just 11 games in Santa Cruz, and be a star. BS69 believes the Warriors can get a star player for Wiseman. He seems to realize salaries have to match. All you are going to be able to acquire is a well traveled veteran. To get a star player, you have to throw in other players, which creates holes in your roster. The only way they can acquire a player of note is to be able to work out a sign and trade with Oubre. But, Oubre got to want to do that. Trading away both your picks in deep draft is silly. They could acquire a couple of players that will help them in the near future. Yeah Curry is 33, and not playing like it. His career could come to an end tomorrow. Why mortgage the next decade.
Is that what you think, Vince 2? I could share my thoughts on who you are, but I’m actually in a decent mood today, so I’ll refrain from sharing.
This may surprise you, but I actually have some understanding of “salaries.” Perhaps you have an understanding of the words “Andrew Wiggins” and “30 million per year”?
If you’ve even occasionally perused this board, or just, I don’t know, followed any NBA outlet over the past 4-5 months, you would have seen a variety of trades proposed with Wiggins, Wiseman, and the Minnesota pick as the central components.
Will any of them occur? I guess we’ll see. But acting like this is some imaginative concept that exists exclusively in my mind is, how should I put this, readily proven incorrect by a basic google search. Every league insider with a podcast is currently speculating on what GSW might get for it.
‘League Insider’? There are a million of those. That’s an overused term. People dream up these trades and then get upset when they don’t happen. Then they get all hyper critical. Take Marty for example. He complains that Kerr didn’t send him to Santa Cruz for the first half of the season. The G-League didn’t start until February. Then, they only played 15 games. Do you really think it is wise to not play a player who hasn’t played in a year. Then, he wants to trade the guy. Now he thinks they should turn him into a Point Forward. Talk about wacky player development…If you trade Wiseman, Wiggins, and pick, you have created holes in the rotation on a team that lacks depth. Since they are hard capped, you can only sign so many veterans on minimum deals.
@arc89 I never “claimed” any of this, wtf dude I thought we were on the same side here.
Just because you root for the same team doesn’t mean he sided with a clueless homer.
Lol. WTF does past injuries in phx have to do with this discussion at all? Awful “logic”
I guess your ignorant self did not watch Lopez dominate the paint against the Hawks. Embrid for one game for your life you would pick him over anyone. Get out of town with the centers don’t dominate.
The fact you’re using Brook Lopez against a Hawks team without their best player just proves your idiocy.
Why am I even replying to you?
If you’re arguing that the traditional center position is NOT depreciating rapidly in value you either haven’t been paying attention to the NBA over the last half decade or your IQ is so low the group home you live in should start restricting your computer use.
Ya right. Brook playing in the post proves my point. Please go back to watching the WNBA you know nothing about NBA basketball.
No man I actually agree with you. I would definitely take “Embrid” for one game — if it was 1997. Then I’d make the same corny, sexist WNBA joke you just made. And then I’d go write a hand written essay about how much respect I have for President Bill Clinton and mail it to my local newspaper.
And then I’d log onto this message board and make a fool of myself by repeatedly saying things like BroOK LoPeZ iS DominEnt In tHee PoST. DiD YoU SeE HIm ScoRe TwenTeee AgenSt thE TimbErwolves?? YoU NeEd EmbRid To WiN RinGZ
@bs69 – you are actually correct here. Centers are quickly falling to the wayside and the fact that people were saying Rudy’s style doesn’t work in the playoffs before he flopped in the playoffs proves it further.
Wiseman should be used ala Giannis tbh as an offense-minded forward, not a rim protecting C like GSW tried to shoehorn him into being. He is not Bogut but Kerr wanted him to be. Myles Turner is that guy, if GSW want that player. I mean if any of you actually watched basketball and didnt live on the stat sheets and twitter narratives, you would have seen Wiseman’s incredible move of being able to take it to the hole in like 1 step ala Giannis a whole bunch of times this season – Giannis wasn’t even doing that at Wiseman’s age.
Wiseman is going to be good – in 2-4 years. GSW needs to put veteran winners around Curry now. That’s the only reason why Wiseman should be traded, but also GSW could do the right thing and play him at SC like they did with Poole to refine his game and be an even better team without him in the interim. Either way will probably lead to more chips.
TY — this argument is being taken as ad hominem against Wiseman and Ayton, when it’s really about the general direction of the league and Curry’s birthday.
If GS didn’t have a generational talent who was 33 years old I’m sure they would absolutely develop Wiseman.
I think there’s a great opportunity to buy Wiseman LOW right now …it should be the other teams motivated to engage and even HELP find a 3rd team (quick) right now to get him in camp before a rival does …
CHA comes to mind….Toronto as well …..man if Im netting Wiseman off some Pascal/Wiggins swap scenario its an easy bank for me if Im Tor … GSW is smart tho, they will use the media well and wait till the last possible/best moment to get the best package.. Going to be a crazy trading / S&T offseason, timing will be imperative
All big tall centers take time, bust or get injured.
See Andrew Bynum, Greg Oden, Jhalil Okafor, and Hasheem Thabeet.
I don’t want Kings to acquire Simmons.
Ben has no heart to play for Kings
Simmons belongs on a team like the Kings where he can continue to be disappointing.
Sorry but Harrison Barnes does nothing for me. That’s not an enticing package for Ben. And I’d go for a Fox headlined package first.
I wouldn’t do a deal with those players from the kings but Barnes was really good in my opinion last year
Fox isn’t going any where anytime soon !! Phili is asking way too much for an underachiever !!
I think Fox is the better player but Ben probably still has a higher ceiling just because small quick PG’s tend to have low ceilings in general. Also Fox isn’t an A-list distributor or shooter, which matters.
If I was Sacramento I would probably put Fox or Hall on the table if pushed. I’m not a fan of Simmons but if any team needs to take a stab at a guy who COULD be a superstar it’s Sacramento. Fox and Hall are nice – but they’re IDK maaaybe All NBA 3rd team guys at peak?
Are they really mortgaging that bright of a future by gambling on Ben? This team hasn’t been remotely relevant for 20 years.
You can really tell how overrated Simmons trade value is in the eyes of Philly and their fans hahaha why would Sacramento trade fox for Simmons? That literally does nothing for them lateral move at best
Harrison Barnes has something Ben Simmons never will, a championship ring.
Sure as hell didn’t get it in Houston. Nor will anyone else in the next 15-20 years.
I cant see philly getting much for Simmons. I mean, who wants a max salary player that you cant have on the floor in the 4th quarter?
You look at Ayton. How efficient he is. How he rebs and plays D. His FG% and points. He’s young and rising, a solid big. Great team player both ways. Wiseman can definitely be that and more for Warriors. He can take his time with O. Cause they need his D and rebounding. Wiseman is a player they will keep. He’s the next great big.
Sixers shouldn’t be in no rush to move Ben. They will get value for him. So don’t sell low. Just start playing the wing. Get your FTs to 75%. You don’t have to be a good shooter. Just a 75% FT shooter. Plenty teams want that Ben. NBA is a 2way sport. Ben is one of top ten D players every yr. So stop with all this clueless chatter. Knicks will take him.
Toppin Quickly, Payton, Burkes two #1 picks. One this yr one in three yrs.
Exactly everyone talking like he’s a scrub getting the max. He was second in the DPOY race, is a multiple time all star, made all nba third team, twice all defensive teams, steals leader and he’s only been in the league 4 years.
Obviously needs to get better from the FT line at a minimum then start being comfortable hitting some 2’s then some 3’s but the kids great as it is. His potential is still sky high. Sixers won’t sell low.
As for your Knicks offer it would be a pass sorry.
Simmons should move. It’s not working. If he talked he would say, Get me out of this place.
So this is what it has come down to for Wiseman?— this reductiveness, just focusing on simple physical stuff, running from rim to rim. And Ayton is the model for that?— no, lol
I officially remove myself from the Wiseman fan club. And somebody is not understanding Ayton.
From the link, about game4, copy+paste:
” all of Ayton’s points that we’re assisted were tip-ins or put-backs. Ayton has moved away from face-up midrange jumpers…”
Ayton has been hitting midranges. And if the writer fixes her typos, she might find problems of logic.
Ayton has been JOYOUS in his actions. He does a variety of things. These plans for Wiseman will just make a center tired and beat up, not joyous. So that cannot be called the Ayton plan, or at least, move his picture off the cover of the propaganda pamphlet.
A number of players in the NBA should be moved.
Ayton has been great in these playoffs, but what I think some commenters are missing is — that has absolutely nothing to do with Wiseman.
LaMelo was stupendous this year. Should we assume the same fate for Killian Hayes based purely on their position?
Ayton is also playing with the best pure point guard since …. maybe all time? Steven Adams should be giving 15% of his extension with the Pels to Chris
Either way, Warriors dynasty days are over. I still cant believe they let Durant leave. They should have traded away Green, hired Durant’s friends amd family, or whatever it took to keep Durant.
In a thread of moronic takes, this one is by far the dumbest.
You REALLY want to bet against Curry after he got GSW to finish 8th with him, Dray and g leaguers???
You really want to bet AGAINST Steph+Dray+Klay? You deserve your fate. 5 more finals incoming. The dynasty is not over no matter how badly you want it to be (and you were definitely saying it wasnt a dynasty when it was happening either, you cowards always move the goalposts when it comes to the true GOAT Curry).
Come on marty he thinks GSW let Durant go. Durant left because he didn’t like sharing the spotlight with Curry and wanted to build his own team. It will be a new Dynasty for GSW.
Durant literally said on his podcast he ONLY left because Kerr refused to run pick n rolls, which was true. He only started running them in the last month of this season and look what happened, smh we were right all along, and Kerr was wrong (again).
KD would have stayed if GSW fired Kerr, bottom line. He didn’t care about the “spotlight” he won 2 FMVPs ffs.
Also, don’t diss me in another comment and act all buddy buddy in another comment either, bad form.
Didnt Warriors get eliminated by Memphis this year and not make playoff??
GSW finished the season with the 8th best record in the West.
What about this?
Mavs: Sabonis
Indy: Simmons and KP
Philly: Brogdon, Warren, Indy first and Mavs first
Mavs get a star big man that KP was suppose to be. Indy gets Simmons and a good replacement for Sabonis. Philly gets a replacement for Brogdan, another shooter/scorer in Warren and a pair of first round picks.
Overall I’m unsure about this deal as a Sixers fans but I think the Mavs and Pacers would hugely benefit from this kind of deal. Pacers fans at first might not like the idea of losing Sabonis but you have to think they are going in a new direction around Simmons.
You’d have Simmons LeVert … KP and Turner. For the 5th starting spot you could have Lamb, JHoliday, McDermott (if you bring him back), AHoliday or someone from FA possibly.
Simmons is a great on ball defender and Turner is a great rim protector and between those two you’d have a solid defence minimum. Then on offence LeVert is perfect as a secondary playmaker and first option scorer. KP can work inside or outside, Turner is a centre that provides spacing for Simmons and then at the third spot you’d get another shooter for Ben. Pacers with a solid head coach aswell now would be a solid playoff team.
Mavs get an easy Sabonis for KP and a first deal. Sabonis similarly plays the 4/5 spot, is a great rebounder (4th in the league), a great passer (13th in assists) and good shooter too (53.5-32-73). He would be a great fit with Doncic and hopefully not be as much of a disappointment as KP was. Sabonis is also on a much much better contract for the Mavs who could still try go after Kawhi or another star in FA.
Not sure Indy wants Simmons that much. Maybe they do not trust Brogdan’s heels. Mavs should sacrifice more to Indy
Since Indy has made an offer IRL this kind of thing has to be taken seriously.
I think Indy would win the trade in reality. Yes Sabonis would be a big loss but just compare his and KPs numbers last year.
Sabonis 20-12-6.7 shooting 53.5-32-73
KP 20-9-1.5 shooting 47.5-37.5-85.5
Indy in a like for like would lose some rebounding and playmaking for sure but you’d actually be getting back a better shooter and more length. With Simmons also coming tho you’d gain a better playmaker and rebounder.
Plus if the Pacers are serious about acquiring Simmons which they appear to be, KP would be a much better fit cause of his shooting ability.
As a Sixers fan I would be totally on board with this deal. I have zero confidence Ben will ever be anything more on offense than he is now. I don’t think he’ll put in the work to get better (his “I am what I am” comment sealed the deal with me). It’s time to move on, and getting a very solid guard in Brogdon and, if healthy, someone like Warren that can be inserted into the starting lineup is as good as Philly will get. Getting 2 1st rounders on top of that would make this, at least for me, a no brainer.
Well I’m glad atleast 1 other Sixers fan likes it. I feel like it might be a little bit under value but 2 good players on decent deals plus two first round picks ain’t that bad. Warren can shine from time to time and Brogdon is always pretty consistent and efficient.
Think the other two teams would jump at this trade
Philly and DAL do very well. Not sure why IND is all of sudden willing to downgrade at PF (and get back a big that fits no better next to Turner), and add Warren (their best scorer and only true F), in addition to what they offered, AND get to pay luxury tax too.
KP would be a great fit with Turner and Simmons. Last season he averaged 20 points shooting 47.5-37.5-85.5. Meaning he spaces the floor for Simmons really well, but as we all know he also can score on the inside.
Warren who you said is their best scorer yet in his best scoring season has never scored more than 20 points per game. Whereas last season Sabonis scored 20, LeVert and Brogdon both scored 21. KP who they would be acquiring in this proposed trade averaged 20 last season too.
So yes they may have to pay luxury tax but if your going for a title that’s just what you have to do. Simmons (24), KP (25), Turner (25) and LeVert (26) are 4 starters you can build a roster around that will compete for the next 5 years atleast. Your defence would be very good and your offence would be hard or other teams to match up against.
WAYYYYY too much long-term money/risk for Indys taste
I like your proposals but Indy doesn’t operate like this with the ledger so cant play along here
I will say I didn’t think Indys first proposal for just Ben was bad at all ……… Philly probably see’s it as the bar, and are obv hoping to clear the bar later, so they conveniently leak all the details early to try and convolute Bens value to others – Makes for good Tv tho so Im not complain’N
I do agree that Indy aren’t brave enough to do this. I never said this will happen it’s just a suggestion that I think would work well.
Indy make some good moves but usually safe measured moves without huge risk.
But I guess that’s why Indy hasn’t been very successful either. 1 conference title, 20 years ago and no championship since 1973.
Can’t really talk much as a Sixers fan, but atleast we have tried to be aggressive and go for it
