As our latest roster count notes, the Bulls only have 12 players on guaranteed contracts. Veteran free agent forwards Paul Millsap and James Ennis are some of the candidates to fill a couple of those open roster spots, according to Rob Schaefer of NBC Sports Chicago. LaMarcus Aldridge, Jarred Vanderbilt and Svi Mykhailiuk are three other free agents that the Bulls could c0nsider, Schaefer adds.
We have more from the Central Division:
- Despite a strong showing in summer league action, Pistons center Luka Garza is unlikely to get rotation minutes during his rookie campaign, Rod Beard of the Detroit News speculates. He might get more of an opportunity if Detroit, which has one too many guaranteed contracts, opts to waive Jahlil Okafor. There’s also a good chance Sekou Doumbouya will spend a chunk of time this upcoming season in the G League unless he shines in training camp, Beard writes.
- The Cavaliers improved their talent pool this offseason in the estimation of Zach Harper of The Athletic. The addition of lottery pick Evan Mobley gives them a potential star at both ends of the floor, and the acquisition of Ricky Rubio provides much needed veteran leadership in the backcourt. However, they’re still a little thin depth-wise at the wing and forward spots, Harper notes.
- The Cavaliers have officially added Sidney Lowe to J.B. Bickerstaff’s coaching staff, according to a team press release. The news that Lowe was leaving the Pistons’ staff to join their Central Division rival surfaced two weeks ago. “Sidney brings a wealth of coaching experience and familiarity to our staff,” Bickerstaff said. “He is a great teacher of the game and his ability to build lasting relationships across the board is integral to the growth of our overall culture here in Cleveland.”
Svi would be nice for the Bulls they need shooters, hope Garza gets on the roster for Detroit he’s a shooting big which is needed but needs to get better defensively in terms of speed and switching
They need Millsap more, no bigs with any beef right now.
Agree.and aldridge can be good option too with minimum contract.
Garza should play in G-league. Needs to get used to his new weight and speed of game. It will do him wonders. I believe he’s a backup big who can shoot.
Sidney knows this is the Detroit staff’s last year… time to B A I L
Like James Ennis a lot. But the Bulls already have DeRozan, Patrick Williams, Javonte Green and Troy Brown. So maybe not enough playing time for everyone. What the Bulls need is more big men but talented big men. How good could Tony Bradley possibly be if he has been in the league for four seasons with three different teams and none of the teams try to keep him?
I think he’s better than you think. Joel Embiid sings his praises. We saw him absolutely dominate Wendell Carter before we traded him to the Magic. You gotta remember he has played behind Ruby Gobert and Joel Embiid and a youth movement tanking team for a little bit. But seriously … If you want to feel good about him read what Joel has said even when they were no longer teammates.
Maybe you are right. I have not watched much of Bradley. Obviously the Bulls just are looking for Bradley to give the team 15 good minutes each game.
Bradley is a fit for the Bulls. Ideally they find a shot blocker to add. I’m not sure that guy exists in free agency. I’d sign Milsap of Aldridge and roll with it.
Don’t want Milsap and Aldridge. Too old. Would like Harry Giles. Would come very cheap. Young athletic and has some game.
Maybe Bulls can sign and trade Markannen for DeAndre Jordan.
