Jalen Green, the second selection in last week’s draft, has signed his rookie contract with the Rockets, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle. Green is the first of Houston’s four first-round picks to sign, Feigen states, citing a person with knowledge of the deal.
Green signed for 120% of the rookie scale, which is common for first-round picks. He will earn about $8.99MM during his first season and will make up to $40.8MM over the course of the four-year deal.
The 19-year-old was the first major prospect to bypass college and sign with the newly formed G League Ignite team. In 15 games in the G League bubble in Orlando, Green averaged 17.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per night, cementing his status as one of the best players in the draft.
He is preparing to make his Summer League debut this weekend, Feigen adds.
Go Green this year
dude is gonna be a stud
This kid is going to make Harden look like a G-Leaguer.
His rookie season should be way better than Harden’s, who had to come off the bench with OKC because of his defense. Right now Green is listed with the second best odds to win Rookie of the Year, after Cade, but they could easily change spots there once the season starts and he’s given the opportunity to lead the Rockets in the starting five and show what he can do.
It could easily go the other way too and force you to change your name for the 5th time in 3 years lmao. I have to say I respect your undying optimism though.
It couldn’t easily go the other way since his floor is Zach LaVine.
It’s better. He’s a 2way guy. And Cade will better than LaVine too. Wake up man.
Zach Lavine is a good player, just so you know.
Also wow, the second pick currently has the second best odds to win ROY behind the first pick without either of them having played a game you say? Damn. Crazy bro.
Look it up. The current odds all have Cade, then Green, then Mobley. How is that so crazy just because they haven’t played yet?
Of course once the season begins and everyone gets to see Jalen Green play in the NBA he could easily become the ROY favorite.
Whoosh. Right over Wallywood’s head.
I remember when you were so hot for Mobley. Seems you just follow what is written and told to you. Just remember who told you Green could be best talent in this draft. After years when we look back. And I said it before the draft. Like way before
Your name is about to change. Cause Rockets are fools if they don’t move Wood by trade deadline. His value will never be higher. He’s not a D guy and is only playing for a contract. Just another diva. Remember
I think you’re gettin a little big for your britches too there bud, time to fall back.
Rockets are in full rebuild. Something most their fans didn’t understand. Even sports radio there, were talking going for playoffs with trades. Wood can bring back good value. Gordon can help contenders. Been saying since last yr. Gordon for Obrue helps both teams. Wall doesn’t want to be in Houston. So get him healthy and strong. And move him next yr. Be a lot easier to move then after a good yr. But he’s got to be on board for that. Meanwhile you play and develop the young guys and figure out who you want. You can trade up next yr in draft. With all the assets you got. And get a good player you want. That’s another stud. If Porter becomes a good pickup. Then in two yrs you will have made major steps to building a good young team. Rebuilding thru draft is the best way to do it. With some luck you can get it done.
I don’t think the Rockets necessarily need to trade Wood. If he continues to improve (no reason now why he wouldn’t) then the rockets can decide in a couple of seasons (in which they’ll be able to continue adding talent) if they are good enough, and wood is good enough to give a big contract to. He’ll still have trade value and still be in his 20’s if they max him out. With wall and Gordon’s salaries coming off the books by then, if they’re not traded sooner, then they can try to bring in another star.
Al really has 0 basketball iq don’t even bother with him. He’s really sad that the rockets can rebuild in 2-3 years while the knicks have been garbage for centuries
At the draft, he seemed to be channeling Micl Jackson… reminding me of KPorter… so they should get along well.
Rockets have a bright future. The ping pong balls fell their way and now they have their franchise cornerstone in Jalen Green and plenty other prospects to get excited about. Not saying they win next year but they have a much brighter path then some of the perennial loser teams like the twolves and knicks
