The Jazz have signed guard Jared Butler, according to a team press release.
According to Priority Sports, Butler’s agency, it’s a two-year guaranteed deal (Twitter link). Utah used its full taxpayer mid-level exception on Rudy Gay, leaving just the minimum salary exception for Butler — that means he was limited to no more than two years at the minimum.
Butler was acquired from the Pelicans in a draft-night deal. It was folded into part of a larger three-team deal.
Butler was a key component for national champion Baylor, averaging 16.7 PPG, 4.8 APG, 3.3 RPG and 2.0 SPG while shooting 41.6% from 3-point range as a junior. He had 22 points and seven assists in the title game against Gonzaga and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
14th pick Moses Moody is a better player than 40th pick Jared Butler?
Random much? Are you talking about some trade rumor? Or where he was supposed to be drafted or something?
I think Jared Butler’s knee(s) made him drop in the draft. Looks like a high risk, high reward tipe of selection. Similar thing happened to Michael Porter Jr. Denver got a good one.
It was good heart condition. They’ve never said exactly what that means. He should be able to manage it just fine. I’ve heard it compared to Chris Bosh. He played for years in the NBA and never knew he had it. Catching it early will definitely help him in the years ahead.
I like his game too. But his heart condition scared me off. Hope he makes it. He always seems in control. He’s got a smooth gm. He’s on the right team to grow as player.
An amazing find at #40 for filling a need. He may get a lot of minutes.
Hopefully, Conley can stay healthy all year, but yeah, Butler gives me that vibe that he’s ready to play now.
the history of baylor men’s bb and fb pro players have had a real hard time breaking through at the next level. i’m trying to research what’s lagging at baylor on the small succession rate. any info?
Baylor takes fliers on top athletes with problem attitudes, and from the top down, took a liberal stance with raping as legal actions showed. I don’t root for their success and the HC Drew sounds like an idiot, but those guards were rocking it last year. The ball was flying around fast… I guess one could say, without reflection.
i just didn’t want to be the one that brought that up.lol. cheers to the next ones up to change the narrative. i’ve always liked the valparaiso “beacons”, what a shot.
