The Kings have been identified as one of the teams with trade interest in Ben Simmons, but a July report indicated the team likely won’t include point guard De’Aaron Fox in any offer for the Sixers’ three-time All-Star.
Revisiting that subject, Paolo Uggetti of The Ringer says he has heard from a league source that Fox in “content” in Sacramento. Given the recent history of the franchise, which hasn’t made the playoffs since 2006, having a rising young star who is happy to stick around may be too valuable for the Kings to mess with, Uggetti writes.
Here’s more out of Sacramento:
- In a subscriber-only article for The Sacramento Bee, Jason Anderson identifies some of the key takeaways from the Kings’ championship victory at the Las Vegas Summer League, writing that rookie Davion Mitchell wants to help change the identity of a defense that ranked last in the NBA in 2020/21.
- Coming off his Summer League title, Stockton Kings head coach Bobby Jackson has made several additions to his staff, including Will Scott as associate head coach, the team announced in a press release. The G League club also announced that Sydney Haydel will serve as Stockton’s director of basketball operations and Sacramento’s player development coordinator.
- Despite having exciting up-and-comers like Fox, Mitchell, and Tyrese Haliburton on their roster, the Kings won’t get much national television exposure in 2021/22, as James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area details. Sacramento will play five games on NBA TV, but none on TNT, ESPN, or ABC.
Neither Tyrese not Fox will be traded.
Wolves, Kings and Spurs only offer average players for Simmons
And they are trying to keep first round picks because draft picks are bad team”s future
De’Aaron Fox is better than Ben Simmons at being a point guard, Ben Simmons is a defensive wing who can pass that is all
Let’s say Simmons is $1 dollars but 76ers asking price is $3.
Kings or Wolves offer 20 cents
Why?
They want to make playoffs
Whatever the Sixers are asking for is obviously far more than they are going to get. They won’t get nearly as good a deal as Houston got for Harden.
What ever the Kings are thinking, do the opposite.
Why would anyone trade Fox for Simmons?
Why would the Sixers do a trade with this team or any team that doesn’t upgrade. Acquiring fox a one tool player for Simmons a minimum 4 took player is laughable and is why only two players are worthy of discussion for Simmons. Neither my friend are on the mismanaged king’s roster.
because Simmons is damaged goods?
I’m sorry Simmons is a 4 tool player? You need to deeper into that
” I F ” they were to Trade Fox, right now, for that known Underachiever, you’d have a Mass Rebellion in Sac !! Possibly that they would never recover from !!
With all due respect, recover from what? Being one of the bottom tier teams every year? With that said, Ben Simmons isn’t getting them over the hump so they are probably wise to stay the course.
The kings have zero on defense and until they start drafting a different type of player they’re going to continue to stink.
Please Morey trade Ben Simmons, Seth Curry and a first round pick for DeAaron Fox and Marvin Bagley Jr.
Kings have the leagues worst defence and this trade would give them one of the league best defenders. Pair that with the fact they drafted Mitchell, together those two will give teams problems. I’d expect them to greatly improve and become a near top 10 team defensively.
Secondly when having Ben Simons on your team your going to need to play him with a bunch of shooters and the kings have shooters.
3 point percentages, Seth Curry 45%, Haliburton 41%, Heild 39%, Barnes 39% and Davis 37%.
This would mean Ben would be provided with the spacing to drive the lane and score inside and if open throw the ball out to shooters to knock down threes.
Fox is obviously great and for so long the kings have sucked and keeping young players has been key to trying to get better. (Hasn’t worked so far tho has it) This trade not only fixes the worst area of the team but it gives you some direction. All of a sudden you have a generational talent that you look to be building around and your probably only a couple moves away from being a playoff threat.
For the Sixers who had the second best defence least season, obviously your going to get worse in that area somewhat. Your also losing one of the best shooters in the league in Curry. However your getting yourself DeAaron Fox. Who is 2 years younger than Ben Simmons and put up 25-7-3.5.
He’s one of the fastest players in the game, he can make his three throws, he improves his 3 point shooting, he’s a good leader and he’s a clutch player.
I like Fox, but… his biggest weakness right now is that he can’t make his FT… I mean I cannot be happy with my PG shooting a 72% not much better than Ben’s 61%!
72% is better than 61% obviously, but I think Fox will improve his over time. He’s only 23, which is two years younger than Ben.
Not sure it’ll have an impact but going from being the main focal point on the kings and one of the only threats for them to playing off Embiid could help. He would be under less pressure, possibly a lower usage rate and maybe that could lead to him being more relaxed and composed at the line
The Sixers aren’t going to trade Curry. He’s one of the league’s best 3 point shooters and he’s on a team friendly contract. Also, they have no need for Bagley.
King’s fans enjoy your horrible defense and no playoffs.
It won’t be horrible with Davion. But there’s a glut that must be reduced. Hopefully some team will find themselves needing a PG for next year, Dallas.
