The Knicks have signed first-round pick Quentin Grimes, the team’s PR department tweets.
Grimes, the 25th pick, was acquired in a draft-night trade with the Clippers. The 6’5” guard out of the University of Houston averaged 17.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 2.0 APG last season.
Assuming the usual 120% above rookie scale offers made to first-round picks, Grimes will make $2.17MM. Over the next four seasons with raises, he’ll max out at $11.13MM.
He’s a SG with size. He was top recruit coming out of HS. If you watched him you know he can shoot. He’s tough and plays D. But trust me. When he gets his handle down. Think Jamal Murray, yes I said it. His shot is that good. With a tight handle at his size. He can be major. I’m big on Grimes and McBride. Both more seasoned rookies with talent. Let’s do this
I watched him plenty at U of H, and their best player was DeJon Jarreau.
Grimes is decent, but trust me, he’s not even close to being Jamal Murray.
I agree
