The Kings “definitely” have trade interest in Raptors forward Pascal Siakam, Sam Amick of The Athletic said during an appearance on The Deuce & Mo Podcast (video link).
There have whispers this offseason – particularly since the Raptors used the No. 4 overall pick to draft Scottie Barnes – that Siakam is available via trade, but Amick says the Kings have been waiting for clarity on just how willing Toronto might be to move him. Sacramento would likely pursue Siakam if given the chance, though it’s unclear how much interest the Raptors would have in possible trade chips like Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley.
Here are a few more trade-related rumors and notes from around the NBA:
- It’s looking more and more like Goran Dragic and Precious Achiuwa – the two primary outgoing pieces in the Heat‘s Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade – will end up with the Raptors, at least for the time being, tweets Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca. The Raptors are believed to be exploring flipping Dragic to a third team, such as the Mavericks, but apparently haven’t found a deal they like yet.
- Dragic, for his part, offered the following update on Slovenian television on Tuesday, per Iztok Franko of Mavs Moneyball (Twitter link): “I haven’t heard from Toronto yet, I’m still waiting for the news. Everything depends on the third team, we’ll have the news in the next few days.”
- Before agreeing to acquire Thaddeus Young and Al-Farouq Aminu in their DeMar DeRozan sign-and-trade with the Bulls, the Spurs were interested in landing Lauri Markkanen via sign-and-trade, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said on the latest episode of his Hoop Collective podcast. However, according to Windhorst, Markkanen sought a larger contract than the Spurs were comfortable offering, prompting the team to pivot to the veterans on expiring contracts. Windhorst believes there’s a “decent chance” Markkanen – a restricted free agent – will end up returning to Chicago.
Dallas needs a dragon
Buddy, Bagley + a 1st round pick SWAP for Tobias Harris balances the Kings roster
Tobias Harris is not worth all that. And you have to pay that contract too?
Have you seen Buddy’s contract? Damn near as bad.
Sorry… but you obviously have no idea what you are talking about…
Hield contract is 4yr 94M. It depreciates every year. 22.4M this year, 20.5M next and 18.5M the following year.
Harris contract is 5yr 180M. It escalates in value every year. 35.95M this year, 37.6M next year and 39.2M the following year.
Harris contact is nearly double the Hield contract. Not anywhere near as bad.
Siakam is the only player available that would make sense moving Hield, Bagley and a 1st or pick swap.
Yeah, but that pick swap would be EXTREMELY VALUABLE, especially because the Kings aren’t getting out of the basement of the West anytime soon..
They’d basically be adding 50mil over the next 3 years, PLUS losing Bagley, and a top 3 pick just to swap Hield who has promise for Harris who has proven he’s not a team leader, and isn’t a MAX worthy player..
If you’re trading Hield, Bagley, and a 1st Rounder, the Kings would need Siakam. Heck, that’s already a solid foundation for a potential Bradley Beal deal if you add another 1st, especially if you further sweeten the deal with a prospect like Mitchell..
2 future 1st Round Picks
Hield and his contract
Bagley and his deal
Davion Mitchell
I doubt the Wizards could get a better deal, especially considering those 1sts could end up being even still lottery picks.
However
Fox
Beal
Davis
Barnes
Holmes
Haliburton
Wright
Harkless
James
Len
Metu
Ramsey
While they’d have a potentially solid starting 5, I don’t think they’d get very far. I think they’d still need another year to build better depth before they’d co Pete for a playoff spot..
I see you edited in SWAP as in first-round pick SWAP. Instead of a first-round pick traded over. That eases the pain a little bit I guess.
I am in on trading Tobias…but nah, not for this deal
They’re not finding a better deal. And this deal would be absurd as it is.
Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make…a cliche I know, but still has truth.
This may or not be the best type of offer out there?? But I do think/know we are better “this year” (time frame is important) with Toby than the package from Sac. So best offer or not…still not interested
You might not be interested in having a better team but Philly would be. Hield’slast two years have been absolutely screwed by Walton sitting him at the three point line but he’s a better shooter and playmaker than Harris. You’d rather have Bagley playing than Drummond and I’m 9000% positive that the first round pick would likely still be a lottery pick.
As I said, you can not be interested. But the 76ers would do it in a heartbeat.
But this deal would never be offered because it’s abjectly stupid.
Nah, Philly does not want this dude, it creates even more roster problems. Sure Hield helps the perimeter O and stretches the floor, but he is a negative on D (Tobias is serviceable) + he is redundant with Curry. Sure he is a more willing shooter (that’s both good and bad) than Seth…but not much of an upgrade over him to be losing Toby, likely shift Ben to the 4…either way you now have a hole at the 4 or still need to find a PG if Ben swaps positions. This trade makes more sense for Sac. But not really improving either team makes it a poor deal both ways.
Another good chuckle…. The Sacramento Kings and their fans don’t want Phillies garbage.
Harris is too important IMO to trade especially with Embid’s injury. Bagley is a couple years away. Heild is nice but doesn’t really help philly
Markkanen is gonna sign the qualifying offer unless OKC signs him to an offer sheet.
TOR drafted Barnes 4th. So, Siakam is available. Doesn’t mean they’re going to give him away (Bagley and Hield have little to no to negative net value, and it might be the case that TOR doesn’t even want them).
Siakam checks all the boxes, but he’s still a one position 4, who isn’t dominant at any single element of the game, and his making max. His offensive game has fallen off more recently. Not sure what he really returns, but it is pretty clear he’s being shopped. He’s young enough to outlast a rebuild, so it’s unlikely to just be about timeline. More likely buyer’s remorse on the max deal.
So it turns out being a 7 footer who doesn’t rebound at all, play defense at all, and doesn’t have any post package at all is not conducive to getting 18-20 mil a year huh? Who’da thought?
Any indication of the Raptors trading away Siakam at this time is just heresay and speculation. Drafting Barnes at No. 4 doesn’t preclude a trade, nor is it any real indication the team is actually willing to trade him. The line of thought that he’s available due to some perceived notion of position overlap is nothing but the result of conventional thinking.
The Raptors front office has been incredibly consistent under Ujiri’s regime and given the widely perceived notion that Siakam’s value is depressed, I have 100% confidence that they simply won’t pull the trigger on a deal just to make a deal. Ujiri and Webster are patient enough to make the right moves at the right times to get the fairest/and or most beneficial deal for the team and at the moment there just isn’t a deal like that on the table for them.
I just don’t see Toronto doing it. If you told me that Hield, Bagley and their one gets them Siakam, I’d say do it as a Kings fan. I just don’t see the benefit unless they believe the one is a lottery pick and they really want out of Siakam’s deal. The counter is that Siakam is a winner and Buddy and Bagley haven’t been.
Toronto should want no part of Hield. If they are getting picks it’s worth listening but Harrison Barnes would be better to include to match than Hield.
All of this would be impossible if there were a intelligent plan in Sacramento but this being the Kings we don’t need to pause on why they would move on my of these proposed deals. When they make a trade, it’s usually a head scratcher.
Heild, Bagley and a first for Siakim would be a great great deal for the kings.
Heilds shooting would be missed but they have invested heavily in guards so it should be easy to find people to take his minutes. Bagley has always been on and off injured and when fit doesn’t blow your socks off either. Siakim is a former champion, former all star, former all nba second team. He would be a great addition and make them a lot better.
As for the Raptors it seems like a poor return to me but it is what it is
The Raptors aren’t making that trade.
Seems to me if Siakam. Is really going to be moved. It’ll be to the Warriors. They can offer best package for Raptors. And they should bring back Wiggins. Canada needs to get behind Wiggins. To bring out the best in him. I still like him.
Nah we don’t want him, ship him to NYK.
The only trade that would make sense is with the Warriors
Siakim for Wisemen, Wiggins and a 1st
Don’t tell that to Blazers fans… They’re very high on their trash that they’re trying to pawn off on someone else. They seem to think CJ McCollum could fetch either Siakam or Ben Simmons.
McCollum might fetch Tobias…that’s about it on our end
Probably but it’s kind of a lateral move. I’d do it but it doesn’t really move the needle, just give the 76ers a different look.
I think Markkannen is going to regret pricing himself out of going to the Spurs in the DeRozan deal.
Yup; especially since he really hasn’t done anything to merit the $$$ Spurs gave Doug McDermott
So its ok to sign a broken Collins and a McDermott, but Lauri is a no for them.
Bulls are smart by taking the same approach for Markkanen that the Bulls did with LaVine. Just make the Qualifying Offer. Then sit back and see what the market says that the player is worth. For now, LaVine is on a very team friendly contract four years $78 million (works out to $19.5 million per season). Maybe the Bulls will just be able to keep Markkanen for just the QO contract one year $9 million.
