Trade speculation involving the Warriors‘ top assets – including James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and possibly future first-round picks – has died down a little since the draft came and went without a deal, with team owner Joe Lacob publicly stating a major deal this offseason is unlikely.
A source within the organization tells Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area that there’s only one player the Warriors would be willing to make all those aforementioned assets available for, and that player hasn’t been made available via trade.
While the player wasn’t specifically named, Andrews writes that it’s hard not to assume it’s a reference to Bradley Beal, whom Golden State’s stars would reportedly love to add to the roster. However, Beal continues to give no indications that he wants the Wizards to move him.
Here are a few more trade-related notes and rumors from around the NBA:
- In addition to shopping Ben Simmons, the Sixers have made Tobias Harris available, according to veteran NBA reporter Mitch Lawrence of SiriusXM NBA Radio (Twitter link), who says the Rockets turned down a potential deal for Harris.
- The Thunder are a possible candidate to take on DeAndre Jordan in a trade with the Nets, says Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report. It’s not clear if Oklahoma City would become involved in a multi-team trade to make that happen or if it’d be a straight salary-dump deal.
- Fischer also reports in the same story that a trade involving Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton appears unlikely at this point.
- The Timberwolves “had eyes” for Kyle Kuzma before the Lakers reached a deal to send him to the Wizards, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic, who says Minnesota could pursue Kuzma again if Washington makes him available. Fischer adds that the Wolves are open to flipping Taurean Prince after acquiring him from Cleveland.
IMHO the 76ers roster is going to look entirely different from what the season ending roster looked like. Obviously, Embiid isn’t going anywhere but Anyone else moving won’t surprise me.
Tbh I’d rather move Harris than Ben? I know I’m in the minority among Sixers fans but his contract is an absolute killer for building out the rest of the roster.
I agree with you. Tobias Harris is way overpaid he’s not a superstar he’s more like a third wheel. He’s more Andrew Wiggins than Bradley Beal. He’s more DeMar DeRozan than Jimmy Butler.
@gary
completely disrespectful. forget about accolades for a second. Tobias was within an eyelash of being a 50/40/90 shooter (51/39/89) with 20pts, 7 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He earned his money which is more than I can say for Simmons.
KnicksfanCavsfan,
Tobias Harris signed a 5 year $180 million contract with an annual average salary of $36 million. For the stats you provided above that’s an overpay, especially considering his performance in the fourth quarter of playoff games.
Tobias Harris and his contract and performance is (almost) in Andrew Wiggins territory. I don’t ever want to be disrespectful I’m just giving my opinion.
It’s definitely a killer as he’s being paid like a star player but is more of a very good/3rd best player on a championship contender. Issue is that he’s probably their second best scorer. Besides the fact that most teams probably don’t want Harris’ contract without some sweetner. Philly is in a tough position regardless. Its unlikely they’ll get back a same quality, or better, scorer in a Harris trade which they’ll need assuming Ben Simmons doesn’t miraculously find a shooting stroke and become a consistent and aggressive 20+ ppg player. And they’re not getting Beal or Lillard back in a Simmons trade unless one of those two specifically listed Philly as the destination they want to go to.
Cavs aren’t trading away Sexton at this point
Beal is staying put since he got rid of Westbrook who he didn’t like and about to add some of his friends on the team. Its looking like Nets part 2 where 1 player brings in his friends to play on the same team.
Don’t know about if Beal likes playing with Russ, which it is irrelevant anyway what he prefers, as last season Russ did embarrassingly outplay Beal & was the best player on the team!
Without Russ WAS did nothing but lose, without Beal their young guns like Rui did play sooo much better… Beal is good but he will never be more than a top 20 type of guy, Russ is an MVP… enough said, right?
If Beal is a top 20 player and Westbrook is an MVP, how could the Wizards only end up as a low seed in the East? Hmmmmmm.
Trading Harris (vs trading Simmons) would have been a good idea a year ago. It still has a chance to improve their chemistry from a BB perspective, but I sense that the problem has, at this point, gone beyond that.
I’d honestly be ok with moving both of them. Harris has disappeared when it’s nut crunch time and we really need him. He was arguably as bad as Simmons in the playoffs this year.
Tobias didn’t take things to the next level in the playoffs but still shot 47/36/84 and averaged about his season numbers (19/7/3). Simmons shot 60/0/33 and almost all of his shots came from within 5ft of the basket and he completely disappeared in the 4th quarter. To say he played almost as bad as Simmons is ridiculous.
GSW wants Lillard lol
Warriors want moon, sky and stars
I can only see moon and sky, I can’t see stars
Jamario Moon is available and so is Skylar Spencer. I don’t see the Warriors signing them, they want and need veteran Stars, or guys who used to be stars and know how to get it done with their experience.
There’s talk of Iguodala and Paul Millsap, and those guys might be okay for one more year. That would be about it.. now or never on those two. And it still might be too late, the wire is starting to show through the rubber on those 2 tires.
But before considering Iguodala and Milsap we need one more guy.. a big-time guy.. not sure who that is but plugging in Iguadala and Millsap before getting that one guy is not happening. If the Warriors don’t get that one guy Iguadala and Millsap will be of no use to a ninth seed team.
Ding ding ding!!! And people think it’s Beal. They clearly want the home town kid
I think the GSW have been head faking for awhile. Maybe to placate their stars. I didn’t see a single report or rumor that suggested they had any real interest in making a major deal, other than to swap out Wiggins in an upgrade. Yet, I’ve seen many which suggest they’re preparing to do detailing work around what they have, not do a major upgrade.
I think they like Wiseman and liked their picks this year even before they had names. I think they’re intending (maybe always were intending) to hold them into the season, at least until they see can determine what KT’s playing condition this year. I actually think it’s the best strategy, but they don’t want to shout it from the mountain top.
There was something on this site like 2 weeks ago saying that the warriors star players approached the front office telling them they wanted beal
So now Sixers want to move Harris and Ben. I guess you will learn the hard way. Morey is a fake GM. Analytics is a tool not a way to run a team. Humans can’t be monitored. Cause instinct is something that happens in that time frame. Chemistry can’t be judged. It has to be experienced. Not one expert in this WORLD had CP3 making that kind of impact. It wasn’t just him. But he was a big part and it woke up the giant in the Suns team. Ben is NOT a PG. Why doesn’t analytics tell him that. I’d love for Knicks to get Harris. Come home player.
I really like what Tobias gave us last season, he was super efficient but up good numbers and has good chemistry with everyone. However his deal is insane the amount of money he will receive really. It hard to imagine what he would get back for him.
Id be against flipping him for a huge deal like Wall or Walker, unless we absolutely have to in order to replace Ben. I’d give up a first round pick or two for Siakim. Siakim would be a slightly cheaper and slightly better player that would fit really well.
Won’t happen but a perfect offseason would be Simmons for LaVine, then Harris plus Joe plus a first round pick for Siakim.
1. Maxey 2. LaVine 3. Thybulle 4. Siakim 5. Embid
Worse case would be Harris for Kemba and first round pick.
Ben Simmons for Wiggins, Paschall, and 3 first round picks.
What about Tobias Harris and recent pic Jayden Springer for Jordan, Joe Harris, and Spencer Dinwiddie sign and trade
Tobias is better than you all think. He is a true stretch 4. He shoots from all levels, can take someone off the dribble, finish at the rim, free throws almost 90% year after year. PER was 20, 118 v 108 ORtg DRtg.
Unpopular opinion but he’s better than Simmons. He’s better than the majority of the 4s in the league. That’s just a fact. You can argue all you want about money but he’s making the same amount on any other team. If you didn’t use names and just stats you’d be taking Tobias over a lot of dudes.
