The 2021/22 NBA regular season will get underway next month, so it’s time to start getting serious about predictions for the upcoming campaign and to resume an annual Hoops Rumors tradition.
With the help of the lines from a handful of sports betting sites, including Bovada and BetOnline, we’re running through the predicted win totals for each of the NBA’s 30 teams, by division. In a series of team-by-team polls, you’ll get the chance to weigh in on whether you think those forecasts are too optimistic or too pessimistic.
In 2020/21, our voters went 17-13 on their over/under picks. Can you top that in ’21/22?
As a reminder, the NBA played a 72-game schedule in 2020/21, so a team that won 41 games last year finished with a 41-31 record. This year, a club that wins 41 games would be a .500 team (41-41). For added clarity, we’ve noted the record that each team would have to achieve to finish “over” its projected win total.
We’ll kick things off today with the Atlantic division…
Brooklyn Nets
- 2020/21 record: 48-24
- Over/under for 2021/22: 55.5 wins (56-26)

Man this time of the year already!
Be cool to link last years Hr thread in above on the Atlantic Div
Brk- Under, barely
Philly Under, worthy of a vig at current #
Bos -Over, not overly confident
Knicks -Over and a nice Vegas vig at that #
Tor- No Clue tbh
Totally taking the under on Philly, having them at 51.5 is preposterous.
Ludicrous? Why exactly? You don’t know how the Simmons situation will unfold. That’s a pretty spot on number and they’ve been in that range the last 4 seasons. If Simmons sucks as much as you consistently say he does, with or without him they shouldn’t be much better/worse
You kinda answered your own ? Fox
*Vegas is always close, no doubt, but the fact ……
” You don’t know how the Simmons situation will unfold. That’s a pretty spot on number and they’ve been in that range the last 4 seasons”
Think that makes the under a worthy bet….your getting a fair baked in number if everything runs par with the upside that the Ben situation goes bad…even if only for a month, which would make the high bar hard to hit even if they get the last 3/4 season in tow
I like the NYK bet better tho tbh were it sits currently …they might land at 7 seed (East is better this year) but I think they top 42.5 rather easily
** And the East on a whole is substantially better Imo this year which would make that number harder to hit even in a Neutral situation
But it can’t be ludicrous until you know the return. Assuming whatever trade happens, if any, will be a negative trade is a bold assumption. If he “sucks” as much as people on here seem to believe, how could subtracting him from the team make them worse than they have been consistently the last four years?
You are the only one Pre Post Erroneous on here. They are not giving Ben away. They will get value for him. They listen to me not Morey. I’ll have them in East Finals.
Halliburton, Heild, Bagley …..
BRK & PHI over…BOS, NYK & TOR under!
Nets window is now. They blew one yr already. They stay healthy and they should. They win more than 55 gms.
Sixers will move Ben. And will get value back. Don’t think they are this dumb. Halliburton is way to go. So after trade they get it together. And win more than 51 gms.
Celtics have depth. And a big TE to use later. After a sloppy yr. They bounce back. They win more than 46 gms.
Knicks definitely win more than 42 gms. They are one of deepest team in NBA. Young and still getting better. Thibs SECOND year. OK
Raptors time to rebuild. Barnes means rebuilding not going for playoffs. Not winning more than 36 gms.
Those are my picks.
I voted for parity it turns out, Raps & Nix over… Not that those will be the playoff teams.
Only Knicks and Sixers have worse winning percentage, by the over/under projections. Collectively, the division is going to improve 34-16 in the extra 50 games they play. Which divisions are projected to have losing records compared to previous years results?
