DeAndre Jordan has signed with the Lakers, according to a team press release.
Jordan was traded to the Pistons by the Nets last week in a salary dump. He was then waived after agreeing to give up $4MM on the remaining two years of his contract, which had nearly $20MM left on it. He’ll gain another $2.6MM, the veteran’s minimum, by signing with the Lakers.

Jordan was signed by Brooklyn with the endorsement of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving but fell out of the Nets’ rotation last season. A 13-year NBA veteran, Jordan appeared in 57 games (43 starts) for the Nets, where he averaged 7.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.6 APG and 1.1 BPG in 21.9 MPG.
With Marc Gasol‘s future in L.A. filled with uncertainty, Jordan and free agent pickup Dwight Howard will likely compete for minutes when Anthony Davis isn’t playing center.
Ok so now trade , waived or buyout Marc Gasol. Then the next signing should be James Ennis lll and our Lakers will still have a open roster spot for later.

I dont get this Gasol hate. His advanced stats were great, he complements AD and LeBron so well. Very smart player. Don’t look at traditional stats. Hassan Whiteside always had great traditional stats – he is a minimum player on mediocre teams last two years.
Another center who can’t shoot to help clog the lane, great signing.
I’ll take what he did last year. 7.5/7.5/1.8
I think gasol did worse. The only reason he sat was because of harden and Durant wanted to shoot more. They paid the price. I watched nets games. He was decent. Dont listen to the dudes carrying rumors. I think they felt they played faster, but Giannis gave them the business. If he and Howard averages 10/10, it was a championship year.
If he could shoot he wouldn’t have been bought out, therefore he wouldn’t sign with LAL for the minimum. His job is catching lobs and blocking shots in the regular season. Como playoff time, bench. Sounds similar to 2020. Maybe history repeats itself, maybe not.
A collection of has beens, wanna bes and could have beens grows deeper on the laker roster. If lebron’s groin holds up at 38 and davis gets through 69 games and if Westbrook doesn’t self implode this Lakers team has a outside shot at a playoff spot.
play-in* spot
I hope you guys will still be here when season ends. Not run away changing your username like hardenrussmvp did when LeBron won it
this isnt a bubble season anymore. i can see Warriors knocking out the Lakers
I wish it had been a $4 million buyout. It was a $16 million dollar buyout, $4 million less than his $20 million dollar contract.
Actually 10 million. Nets gave them 6 million cash.
And took about six million of the Pistons’ salaries in return for four future second rounders. The Nets just waived Okafor but will probably hold onto Doumbouya.
I am guessing (and it is a guess since I really don’t know) that if someone signs Okafor the Nets would get a salary set off and save a ton of $$. I would rather have had the Lakers sign Okafor than Jordan. But that is me.
Why would you wish that? You writing his checks?
That sounds more likely. I was reading it going “no way would he throw away 16 million”. 4 million less than a 2.6 million minimum so 1.4 million less in his pocket.
Detroit that assumes he doesn’t hook up a players minimum next season. In which case he will be a +1.2 million. Or whatever the (vet) players minimum is next year.
All they need is big man D. Rebounding and protect the middle. It worked with McGee and Howard. Why not try it again. Depth is never a bad thing.
I think he plays better here. I couldn’t imagine being on the nets because theyre shooting 3s to much.
Best second unit in the league. 3rd unit as well.
Deandre can screen and roll that’s it
He hasn’t been good defensively in awhile
But with lebron and Westbrook he will have chances to do what he does
Gasol has to be gone? He went from one crowded front court to another. Seems too many 5’s. Plus, AD was suppose to play more C with Westbrook in the fold.
This might be the Lakers giving in and letting AD play the 4 more which is what he prefers. He won’t get as banged up defending the 4 and of course he can still move there on a matchup to matchup basis, especially come playoff time. It’s hard to say the Lakers aren’t a playoff team if healthy but obviously the usual trolls and Lakers haters will say so just for the sake of being heard.
This team will end up all new replacements by all star break. All will be hurt and replaced? Sorry comes with age. Probably turn into the Westbrook show!
Jordan and Freed on a night with fresh legs I’ll pay to watch those rebounds
