Ex-Knicks guard Frank Ntilikina has signed with the Mavericks, the team’s PR department tweets.
A report surfaced on Tuesday that Dallas was expected to ink the point guard and now it’s official. The Mavs have a full 20-man training camp roster.
It’s believed to be a minimum contract, according to Marc Stein of Substack. The Mavericks already have 14 other players on guaranteed deals, plus Moses Brown on a partially guaranteed contract.
During the 2020/21 season, Ntilikina earned $6.2MM in the fourth year of his rookie deal.
The 6’4″ guard, still just 23, suited up for 33 games with the Knicks last year under head coach Tom Thibodeau. He averaged just 2.7 PPG and 0.9 RPG across 9.8 MPG.
The defensive specialist, who is shooting 36.6% from the field for his career, averaged 6.3 PPG and 3.0 APG in 20.8 MPG during the 2019/20 season.
Dallas already has Jalen Brunson and Trey Burke as rotation options behind Luka Doncic, so Ntilikina doesn’t project to play much even if he’s on the 15-man roster this season.
Tre Burke is a good example. Of a high pick (9th). Who had difficulty and regressed. Then worked his way back. To a serviceable NBA player. Frank is already a better defender. That’s half the game. His offense always inconsistent. His decision making always questionable. Needs to be more aggressive and assertive. Knicks only made him worse. Product of being a Phil draft pick. He’s more a combo guard. But can play the point. Needs to get his confidence back. It’s time to step up. Mavs can use his help. Get his shot more consistent. And just play good D. At 23 he still has a shot to do well. Wish him the best !
His defense is wayyy more than half his game. 85%
He shoots 35% for his career
He shot .479% from 3PT last yr. It’s not about stats with Frank. NY has messed his gm n heap up. He needs to get his confidence back. He is NOT a finished product yet. Rooting for him.
48% on 3s and 19% on 2s.
Bas.Ref. puts him about 50-50 between the 1 and 2 last year, after being mostly a 1, but his PER is very low regardless. The French team did not play him much.
He’s not a point guard. If they play him like Thybille at the 2 and 3, he might be useful.
Have you ever watched him play dude. He’s played more point than any other position. Even on his National team. Like I said. He can play the point but more a combo guard.
I’ve watched him plenty. He’s not a point guard.
Ok he only plays the position. Get glasses
If that’s what you call it.
If he makes the final 15, that would make 4 members of the ’17-18 Knicks on the roster.
I was surprised a team finally signed Ntilikina. Hopefully he learn a lot from Luka and J Kidd as the 15th man. Ntilikina will do a lot of watching and sitting on the bench

Somebody in the Mavs FO pays too much attention to NY media, and it’s not Mark Cuban.
The past is hazy with new GM Nico Harrison… apparently he wants his famous friends known, not his history. His attraction is to help recruit Dame Lillard, as is new HC Jason Kidd. Tough get, but at present Nico is for sure picking up Knick junk.
Slick networking eventually points to NY and Nico is certainly ambitious. An NBA GM job may be temporary but corporate employment is always available. He is black of course; he is a 2021 hire, and, if he was white, the red flags would be more obvious.
