Injured Warriors Klay Thompson and James Wiseman have made “good progress” and are “on pace to return for the 2021/22 season,” the team’s PR department tweets.
Thompson, who underwent surgery on his torn right Achilles on November 25, is expected to participate in various controlled drills during training camp. His return to full practices will be determined at a later date.
There has been speculation that Thompson will return to action around Christmas if all goes well.
Wiseman, who underwent surgery for a right meniscal tear in mid-April, is expected to participate in individual shooting and other individual on-court activities during camp. His return to full practices will be determined after October 15, when he’s expected to begin full jumping on the surgically repaired knee.
Wiseman, the No. 2 pick in the 2020 draft, has seen his name thrown into trade rumors this offseason, particularly involving disgruntled Sixers star Ben Simmons.
Merry Christmas Warriors ….. Klay is coming to town. I’d never give up Wiseman.
They should still be cautious when Klay returns after missing the last two seasons. Definitely bring him along slowly, at least until the All-Star break.
Agreed. They were able to tread water and make it to the play in game without him last year, no need to rush him into a heavy work load before he’s ready
Why even consider Simmons….An I’ll-fit for the Warriors just like Oubre…..why destroy your roster for a questionable fit…He is a decent player in HIS environment, but how would he fit in a more regulated scheme run by Kerr.

Assuming Wiseman and Wiggins would be traded, Simmons could definitely help Curry by giving them another playmaker and also defending the bigger guards. Both Dray and Ben would be amazing. Dray has a much higher IQ in my opinion but could teach Simmons a few thing or two and perhaps do more of the grunt work as Dray gets older. Problem is, with no Klay or Wiggins, the offense would suffer too much. They would need more shooting especially since you have no idea what you’ll get from Klay immediately.
KnicksCavs I like your post here. Good take. But at this point I think the value of Simmons has dropped dramatically from the summer. I don’t think it would be Wiggins and Wiseman. I don’t believe the Warriors would give up both.
It would absolutely be Wiggins and then a salary filler if necessary, then two first-round picks in the future. That’s it. Sixers might get two starters out of Sacramento like a Bagley and Buddy and two first-round picks. Sixers might like that a little better but looks like the Warriors are intent to roll with what they’ve got for now. They would give up more for a better player but not for Simmons.
And I LOVE Simmons. I think he would be a stud on the Warriors. Defense and ball movement and I think his overall offense would improve a tremendous amount just being part of their scheme.
Can’t wait to watch Klay shake his head “no” on what was a very clear and obvious foul (every game he plays)
