Lakers superstar LeBron James praised Cavaliers rookie Evan Mobley after Los Angeles beat Cleveland 113-101 on Friday night. Mobley finished with 23 points, six rebounds and two steals in just his sixth NBA game, catching James’ eye.
“He’s going to be a damn good basketball player in this league,” James said, according to Mark Medina of NBA.com. “Cleveland has a good one. They’ve done a good job over the years in the draft, I’ll say.”
Cleveland has started Mobley alongside Lauri Markkanen and Jarrett Allen, deploying one of the biggest lineups in the league. The 20-year-old was selected by the team No. 3 overall in July’s draft.
Here are some other notes from the Eastern Conference:
- Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston examines potential trade targets for the Celtics, noting that any acquisition should fit well alongside Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Boston has opened the season with a 2-3 record, sporting a rotation that includes new additions Dennis Schroder, Al Horford and Josh Richardson.
- The Bucks will visit the White House on November 8, becoming the first team to do so since 2016, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports. Milwaukee will celebrate winning the 2020/21 NBA championship — its first since 1971.
- Raptors guard Goran Dragic received his second straight DNP-CD (did not play, coach’s decision) on Friday, Michael Grange of Sportsnet tweets. “He’s a very approachable guy, very professional guy,” head coach Nick Nurse said of Dragic. “I talk to him everyday and I pretty much just tell him to stay ready… We’ll see where it goes from there.” Dragic is still viewed as a strong candidate to be traded during the season.
This is purely semantics- but when does LeBron (or anyone for that matter) go from a superstar to a star
Why not play Dragic? You traded your best player for him and he would help VanVleet carry this trash team. It would raise his trade value too.
Bc everyone’s out playing him, he’s an expiring contract if he’s not performing and others are why play him.
Rockets should’ve drafted Mobley over Green.
Rockets with Wall KPJ Wood and Mobley would be pretty impressive. Wall can create and run the offence, KPJ is a gifted young scorer, Wood is massively underrated and Mobley has the potential to be a top 3 big man one day.
I rate Green but they have two SG’s and no point guard, a lot of inexperience in the backcourt which makes it tough to win games.
Green would also made more sense for the Cavs who don’t exactly have an answer at SG.
However I think right now the Cavs very happy with Mobley and the Rockets probably aren’t fazed right now
Cavs are fine with Mobley, esp after they could not trade leading scorer Collin Sexton, a 2.

For Toronto… Neither Dragic nor Flynn starts, behind team leader in minutes Vanvleet, after six games.
On-offs: FVV even, Dragic minus33, Flynn plus71.
It is rare to see such difference & I would call it writing on the wall. Flynn of course has low minutes just in garbage time but so does Dragic probably to a lesser extent.
Leading their minutes top ten in on-off: Delano Blanton!
At center, Birch out-numbers Achuiwa if only by not drifting outside where they are inefficient.
“As I said”.
It’s time for the Celtics to make the hard choice because it’s clearly that Tatum and Brown can’t play together at least not the same time
In my opinion the should look to trade Tatum because at least Brown has gotten better every season he’s been in the league as for Tatum he’s been the same no real improvement but I’d be fine with either or them finding away for them to co-exist at them same time
Their biggest mistake is not moving on from clueless Stevens no making him team president
Big rumours pre season was them looking to trade Brown and buts for Beal. Beal and Tatum are best friends apparently.
I thought Brown wasn’t that good but man he’s really started the season strong. Scores at Will and really efficiently. Plays solid defence and is happy at the 2 or 3 spot. Reminds me of Kris Middleton but Brown is probably better or will soon be atleast.
Big rumors too, about who the buts are attached to.
Not that’s it will happen but these two could both average 30 points per game, Beal has already done it before and Tatum shots enough shots to get 30 just needs to be more efficient.
If these two did combine, they could become one of the first duos ever to each average 30 for a season. I believe the early 60’s Lakers teams with West Baylor and Wilt had some combination of two players averaging 30 and 30 but it hasn’t been done since.
This is for all the Dinwiddie Deniers ——
You know who you are.
Wizards are 5 – 1
Dinwiddie PG – 31 mins, 20 pts, 6 ast, 5.4 reb
.420% FG, .41% 3PT, .95% FT.
One thing Al knows well is PGs ……
I wanted Dinwiddie and Fournier. I’m good with Kemba now. It cost us less. And we signed our deep bench.
Wizards looking good and Dinwiddie has been great. Kuzma has also been excellent and Harrell is making an impact.
However it’s just the regular season, I think come playoffs the Nets, Heat, Bucks all walk past them. Even the Sixers, Celtics, Knicks and Hawks get past them with relative ease.
Fifth is probably their best but even seventh is a big improvement and makes them a riser.
AL predicted those numbers for Dinwiddie, with many debates on HR.
And so far, Dinwiddie’s Wizards are better than Westbrook’s! (My prediction.) And this, with a Laker reject front line starting… Harrell, Kuzma, KCPope.
Will be curiousnif they keep this lineup… Allen, Mobley, Lauri, Sexton, Garland. Basically relying on those 2 bigs to carry the defensive load. If they can upgrade their bench they could push for the back end of the playoffs. Okoro, Cedi, Love pretty much all need to go and get Upgraded. They need a pure scorer off the bench and better defensive front court back ups.
Okoro is 21, to young to give up on. Love and Osman have already been widely offered , but with PERs of 17 & 14, they are good backups. The pure scorer off the bench should probably be Sexton… Rubio is already playing similar minutes to him & Garland.
