Derrick Rose considered retirement a few years ago due to persistent knee injuries, but he doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon, Marc Berman of the New York Post writes. “Hopefully, I’m going to try to Tom Brady this thing, play as long as possible, make sure I really take care of my body,” he said. “And if I’m playing play with joy. I don’t have to score 30 points a night anymore to affect the game.” Rose re-signed with the Knicks on a three-year deal this summer.
We have more from the Eastern Conference:
- Magic fans are irritated by the team’s lack of transparency regarding injury updates on Markelle Fultz, Jonathan Isaac and Chuma Okeke, Josh Robbins of The Athletic writes. Fultz and Isaac are still rehabbing from knee injuries, while Okeke has been out since training camp with a bone bruise in his hip. No timetable has been announced for any of those players.
- Rookie forward Isaiah Jackson will be “out for a while,” according to Pacers coach Rick Carlisle, due to a hamstring injury, David Woods of The Indianapolis Star reports. The 22nd pick of the draft was injured during the Pacers’ game on Wednesday. “He’s walking in a brace, so that’s good good news, compared to the severity that there could have been,” Carlisle said.
- Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff credits Lauri Markkanen with making the team’s jumbo lineup effective, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic writes. Markkanen has played small forward in lineups with Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen on the floor. “The biggest shoutout has to go to Lauri Markkanen,” Bickerstaff said of the former Bulls forward. “To me, he’s the reason why it works. His willingness to do that, and again, sacrifice some comfort. He’s the reason why we’ve been able to get away with it so far and why it’s been able to work.”
Mobley and Jarrett make Lauri look better.
Lauri is shooting like 30% from the field he’s gotta get that percentage up, but I really like what the Cavs have done and I’m a bulls fan so I was laughing at what I found to be an abysmal contract given to lauri after watching him try and play power forward and center, Cavs have a competitive advantage over the league with starting 3 seven footers and it’s just awesome to see a little less parody in the nba
in re: Lauri, it looks like he’s historically a slow starter. Career FG%/3PT% by month:
October – 37.5/29.3
November – 36/31.5
December – 45.7/39.1
January – 45.7/38.1
February – 46.2/30.6
March – 42.1/34
April – 49.4/46.5
May – 47.8/45.5
Im very happy for D. Rose. He’s healthy and successfully turned his game away from pure athleticism around the rim to also being a consistent shooter.
He’s slowed it down more in control. He’s looking good. He takes what they give him. Game has slowed down for him. Knicks truly have two starting PGs.

Thank you.
Where’s the Hawk Ho er. Hod do you get rocked by Wizards AGAIN LOL
And the Knicks won babyyyyyyy
Knicks tried to give it away. But hung tough. RJ and Kemba were big this game. Bulls are a bunch of crybabies.
They were letting them play, and could have been a few more fouls called against the Bulls, but there were also at least a handful were LaVine and others were getting fouled with no whistles..
And the no-call on the clear path foul was pretty ridiculous..
Either way though, you can’t let that affect you mentally. Bulls could have and should have won this game. They threw it away with a really poor shooting night, and not focusing on what they could control.
Definitely give credit to the Knicks though, they played hard and played well. They took advantage of the Bulls lack of size, and crushed them on 2nd chance points.
Although, sometimes it did just seem the ball was bouncing the Knicks way, their focus and hustle won them the game.
Bulls have struggled rebounding so far this year. This was a tough matchup. I pretty much only took the Knicks +1 b/c of their multiple guard lineups, and their bench, and that’s pretty much how they ended up winning. Also had the under 216, with both teams matching up where pace might be a little less, with the Bulls improved defense. I thought Vucevic would be able to grab a few more rebounds in this matchup, so it was a good job of the Knicks to team rebound and keep him to only 8
Did you watch the gm. So how can you say Bulls should of won. Knicks were up 11 with 3 mins lol. We almost gave it away taking bad shots. Bulls are a better team this yr. But they still need time. They will be better as yr goes on. Ball got cojones guarding Randle one on one. Randle should of posted him more. Ball was smacking his arms at least 4 times no calls. Lavine n DeRozan looked good. And Caruso is a great guy off the bench. Knicks are looking like winners to me. Still early. Deep deep deep, we got depth.
Mobley and Allen allow them to get away with that lineup, especially Mobley. I really wish they used guys in different positions in the rotation. Okoro is out right now, but I would like to see him and a shooter start next to Garland, Mobley, and Allen, with Sexton as a scorer off the bench. Hope to see Lamar Stevens get more playing time while Okoro is out.
Knicks playing great so far but still need a true superstar to go along with a solid roster of players. Randle is good but to win a Championship the Knicks need a better number one option. I’m glad Rose came back but I thought he was going to be a ring chaser and leave.
