Isaiah Hartenstein won a training camp battle with Harry Giles for the last spot on the Clippers roster and has emerged as a solid reserve, Mirjam Swanson of The Orange County Register writes.
Hartenstein has averaged 7.3 PPG and 4.3 RPG in 15.3 MPG through three appearances and has developed chemistry with Clippers wing Luke Kennard. “I think we just really know how to play with each other,” said Hartenstein, who is on a one-year, minimum-salary contract.
We have more from the Los Angeles teams:
- Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said that Hartenstein, Kennard and Terance Mann learned how to blend their talents during training camp, Andrew Greif of The Los Angeles Times writes. “They understand their unit, how they play,” Lue said. “Move bodies, move the basketball.” Kennard is averaging 11.5 PPG and Mann is averaging 8.5 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 3.5 APG.
- LeBron James said the league missed the boat on new Lakers teammate Carmelo Anthony, Dave McMenamin of ESPN writes. Anthony struggled to find another NBA opportunity until he hooked on with Portland during the 2019/20 season. “He’s been doing it for quite a while, and it’s just beautiful to continue to see, especially when, you know, they gave up on him,” James said. Anthony, who signed a veteran’s minimum contract this summer, had a 28-point game on Sunday and is averaging 14.0 PPG so far with his new team.
- James is questionable to play on Friday due to right ankle soreness, McMenamin tweets. He has missed the last two games after playing 40 minutes on Sunday. Rajon Rondo has also been listed as questionable due to a similar injury, McMenamin adds.
I would love for LBJ to lose and lose again so he can learn some humility.
when youre either the greatest ever or the 2nd greatest ever (whichever side u fall on) its tough to be humble.
Or 3rd greatest? I think there is still a good case he’s behind Kobe. One less championship (really more like 3 because do we really put the 2012 lockout championship or the 2020 bubble championship on the same level as other years?), one less scoring title, and only 6x All Defense (Kobe was 12x) compared to Kobe. And Kobe played in the hand checking league, which was banned after LeBron’s first season. Fair arguments both ways but not clear cut to me LeBron’s career is better than Kobe’s.
Talk about uh-humble.
You mean 4th greatest after MJ, Kareem, and Russell.
Lebron James would’ve been Isaiah Ryder is he played in the 90s, lebron makes me mad not because the idiotic argument that he’s better than MJ or Kobe, but because he could’ve been but he was so silver spoon fed from high school on that nothing was ever hard for him so when he faced adversity like a leg cramp he lets other men carry him off the court while he’s in tears, lebron is not the best basketball player ever and it’s not close but he should’ve been and he let us all down
I’m embarrassed for you
These replies are great
You know who also wasn’t humble…Kobe and MJ !!
We get it fellas, your all {great} basketball fans but hate the greatest player of this century
Seriously! I don’t get the hate. What has Lebron done that is so awful?
He won a championship for three different franchises and gives back to his community almost in a way that others haven’t. He’s been a family man and doesn’t have negative headlines in or out of basketball.
A true sign of greatness is the amount of hate he is receiving right now.
I wouldn’t say he is humble but he is not obnoxious. But really, are any of the all time great players truly humble?
I never said MJ and Kobe were humble… but that being said, I do feel LeBron to the complaining took the refs to another level during his career. I don’t remember Jordan and Kobe on almost every offensive play where a foul wasn’t called for them then complaining to the refs. Obviously every star has done it but at it feels like LeBron led the 2005-present crop of stars to make it commonplace to do it all game long.
I don’t “hate” LeBron. I just think he is overrated. Two of his championships were in weird years (lockout and bubble) that can’t be compared to any other year and it is obvious the level of competition was weaker those years due to the weird circumstances. Another one of his championships was won on a knife’s edge as if Ray Allen misses that 3, we may be having a very different conversation about LeBron’s career.
To say he’s clearly the greatest ever when he has a lot of moments that can be picked apart more than other NBA greats and Jordan and Kobe appear to have better cases makes it just kind of annoying that he’s given such accolades sometimes. Like he’s great but I have never felt like there is no chance the league can stop him. You definitely felt that way with Jordan. Obviously the level of competition the part 10 years is much higher than when Jordan played but it still has to be a considering factor against LeBron.
I don’t have anything against someone who puts MJ or even Kareem over LBJ, but Kobe over LBJ seems absolutely trolling. There is no evidence to backup that idea. Kobe is at best #9/10. MJ – LBJ – Kareem – Wilt – Bird – Magic – Duncan – Shaq – Russell, in no particular order, all of them are clearly above Kobe.
It isn’t trolling. Kobe is a 15x All NBA and 12x All Defense Player, which puts him in the conversation with anyone. Won 5 titles with no weird circumstances. LeBron won 2 championships that can’t be compared to any other year and the level of competition was much lower than neighboring years, and won one championship on a dagger’s edge. LeBron has one less scoring title, though he does have a higher individual scoring average, more overall points, and is 5% more efficient than Kobe. But remember that the NBA changed the defensive rules in 2004 and Kobe’s first 8 seasons were with the ability to hand check. Definitely a relevant factor. Kobe’s PPG went from 24 ppg in 2003-04 to 35.4 (35.4!!!) ppg in 2005-06. Obviously Shaq left and Kobe was shooting much more that year but I think that definitely shows the NBA’s rules changes had a big effect on offense as his FG % went up too.
Kobe was obviously a better individual player than Duncan, though Duncan was a phenomenal player and excelled at controlling a game. Kobe has more titles and is higher on the scoring list than Shaq, Bird (give me a break with Bird vs Kobe), and Wilt. Kobe is much higher on the scoring list than Magic and has as many titles.
Kareem is amazing and I can see the case. I’d still put Kobe ahead of him all things considered but it is a good argument.
First three championships he had Shaq, the first finals he was horrible, the second one he was Ok but played worst than previous rounds, so we can say he was in 2000 hard carried by Shaq, and 2001 carried by. Without Shaq or Pau his team wasn’t even a contender.
The lvl of competition in the first threepeat was lower than the lvl of competition in the 2010’s by far.
The hand checking rule, yes the players talk a lot about that, but in reality the stats were barely the same. You have to check the PER36 stats, the FG% from 99 -03, is almost the same as 05-10. (around 45%) The PPG went from 24ppg to 26.5ppg, being him a more complete and better player and the full time main focus of the offense. Clearly this stats shows that the handchecking argument is overblown a LOT. You can check this stats with other contemporary perimeter scorers like Carter, Iverson, Allen, and the difference is about the same. It had an impact that doesn’t mean too much.
The defenses were less physical, but the defensive schemes changed for better, team defense and help defense got more improved.
The lockout year? for real? that’s nothing to hold against LBJ, the bubble its arguably but its the same situation for all the players, things happens, like injuries, etc.
And the all defensive teams its laughable, absolutely no sense at all, he was still getting that award till his 30’s when he was at times clearly a defensive liability. He was a really good defensive player, most of all an on ball defender, but his reputation was bigger that the reality. In the same period of time Ron Artest had only 4 All-NBA defensive, how can happen that? he was a DPOY, he forgot how to play defense?
Actually that’s what I meant Cap&Crunch, with JBHoops turning the conversation to Kobe. I had a long response that I cut out because I didn’t want to get pulled into another GOAT debate!
I do agree LJ has spent too much energy pleading with refs… not a good look… but I think he has had a favorable influence on officiating. He came in not prioritizing drawing fouls as a plan, like with what refs are cracking down on now, that got out of hand with Harden, etc.
I mean if you wanna talk about the GOAT, don’t look past The Legend…
1/ Larry Bird
2/ Magic Johnson
3/ MJ
4/ LBJ
… Kobe is nowhere near the top!
I agree with ElMajesty, as much as each one is entitled to their own opinion, which is fine, but for me if you mention Kobe ahead of LBJ is just for trolling purposes, but hey if you think so, well… that is on you!
For the record Kobe Bryant is my favorite player of all time and its not close
I agree X….Im never willing to have a GOAT convo at any time of the day , nice delete !
I dont think this has to do with Kobe Mj or LBJ at all….people are just meaner these days than they were 20-25 yrs ago….Hate is fashionable today , ….best served chilled….I find it really gross tbh but to each their own ( *not directed at you X)
Hartenstein is looking good. Solid rotational guy. Good instincts and underrated passer.
Carmelo Anthony has never played for a title contender and I don’t see that being any different this season.
Salty much ladies?
More like honest. Lakers are overrated, gave away all their depth to bring in a negative player in westbrook(6th career quad double including turnovers). Between old man LeBron, weak boned unibrow and a really unimpressive supporting cast, it’ll be great to watch the lakers struggle all year
The Lakers, and their fans, should be salty after losing to the Thunder.
Indeed so GWP….it was a gut wrenching loss
All of your comments stink except for one but i respect your opinions. Now i will say one thing adding Westbrook doesn’t get my approval but we will see how it plays out!!!
Go Lakers
Lakers Fan For Life!!’
Lakers really missed the bus going for Westbrook instead of bringing Lonzo back.
Lonzos playmaking and defense are elite, while Westbrooks intensity is dwindling, while being an even worse shooter
Hart-en-SCHTEIN, per Bas.Ref.
whether -een or -ighn
will play fine, and yet
will not get the re-sign.
Westbrook sucks, that is all
It shouldn’t be a surprise that Hartenstein has been good around their multipositional defenders. He was really good last year too. Curious to see how his role is effected by Ibaka coming back b/c that was one reason I thought he might fit elsewhere
Maybe Melo missed the boat because he wasn’t allowed on the LBJs boat until now. Lakers could of signed Melo sooner before this year. I’m definitely torn I want Melo to win but want LBJ to lose.
LeBron will go down in history as a great talent. He may be the greatest off court NBA civil rights persona since Bill Russel. However, he has proven to be very weak willed in the locker room. Overcoming adversity is a foreign thought when you are handed everything from a young age. He showed us who he was with a yellow toy Humvee years ago. LeBron has added immense talent and turmoil o every team he has joined. Strong leaders like Pat Riley succeeded with him by saying no. All you need to know to sum up LeBron James is he tried to lead a coup in Miami, and they still wanted him on the team.
I love his non basketball contributions, excluding Space Jam 2.
