There’s a possibility that Jonathan Kuminga – who has been dealing with a right knee injury – will be active for the first time on Saturday, head coach Steve Kerr said today (Twitter link via Anthony Slater of The Athletic). Kuminga went through a 3-on-3 workout today and the club will likely make a decision tomorrow on his status.
As for the team’s other lottery pick, Moses Moody was assigned today to the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League. However, after playing in Santa Cruz’s game tonight, he’ll back with Golden State on Saturday, tweets Slater. If Damion Lee, who is questionable with a shoulder contusion, is unable to play tomorrow, Moody could see some action, Kerr said (Twitter link via Slater).
Here’s more on the Warriors:
- It’s just not Warriors players who are on the mend from injuries — assistant coach Kenny Atkinson injured his leg during a recent workout and will be off the bench indefinitely until the injury heals, according to Slater (Twitter link).
- Nemanja Bjelica has been known primarily as a shooter since entering the NBA, but he’s proving this season with the Warriors that he has a more well-rounded game, writes Rusty Simmons of The San Francisco Chronicle. “He’s a great passer, and just a really good basketball player,” Kerr said. “… I think that’s who our team has always been. That’s why guys with good feel have always been a great fit with us. He’s absolutely a great fit. The guys love playing with him. The ball moves when he’s out there, he spaces the floor, and he forces the defense to react. He’s a fun guy to play with.” Bjelica signed a one-year, minimum-salary deal with the club in August.
- In case you missed it, Golden State exercised its 2022/23 team options on Jordan Poole and James Wiseman, guaranteeing their salaries for next season.
Send Damion to G
Why? There is nothing wrong with his play. Moody and Kuminga need the extra minutes Santa Cruz can give them.
Right, why would they send their 6th man to the G-League?
Without Lee their bench would be just Bjelica, Iggy, Porter, & JTA.
For someone that proclaims he knows everything about the Golden State Warriors, why do you keep saying such stupid things? Poole is their 6th man. That was decided last season. The play of Bjelica, Iggy, and Porter has been quite good. Kerr is still working out how to put all the parts together. Damn. Go be pissy somewhere else.
Iggy, Porter and Bjelica are helping the team, Damion Lee is just trying not to hurt it… i think he is playing too much in the 4th
Warriors need to work on their turn overs. It cost them the game last night and almost another game. 11 unforced turnovers is not what playoff teams do in a game. Stop trying to throw full court passes.
Poole needs to slow down and stop dribbling right into traffic. Curry needs to understand he will be double teamed and not try to throw lazy passes. Luckily they have a easy schedule the first part of the season. Work out the mistakes now before you play the better teams.
This is what happens when you have a young team. Turnovers are a normal part of the equation. But, it’s what everyone wanted.
It’ll hurt more as the season moves along and teams sharpen up. Well, except for the young teams.
Problem is 2 of the players that had a lot of turnovers was Curry and Green last night. Play has been sloppy the last 3 games.
Absolutely. Young guy isn’t where he should be or normally would be or not expecting the pass at that time from a veteran player. But yeah it’s the whole team.., vets and young guys as you say. Hope they get it together.
To be fair, De’Anthony Melton is an elite steals guy, and really good defender
Love the Warriors but Curry is one of the worst turn over guys I’ve seen. Their shooting bails them out of so many games.
Can’t wait for Kuminga to play finally!!!
Bjelica has always been very skilled. I dont get the claim that he was just a shooter. He could always put the ball on the floor and make plays
Exactly formerlyz, maybe it was because he was hidden in Sacramento idk,but hes always had a solid feel for the game..
What happened to Moody? Saw him play sparingly but decent the first two games then a couple DNP’s and now G League? Did I miss something?
I just think it’s probably because there’s only so many minutes to go around. His time will come but he’s only 19. I don’t think it’s because Moody did anything wrong or got off track in development. Even Gary Payton may play ahead of him because of experience.
Perhaps with Lee and jta out he’ll play tonight? I think the G League assignment was just for one day. I don’t think their league has started it may have been a preseason type of game? Still not sure about that. Couldn’t have gone down just for practice, right?
