James Wiseman will likely be out until at least December as he rehabs from the meniscus injury that sidelined him at the end of last season.
The Warriors’ second-year center was cleared Friday to increase individual on-court workouts, according to the press release relayed by Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle (Twitter link). He’ll be reevaluated at the beginning of next month but will likely need 4-6 weeks of conditioning once his recovery advances to full-contact practices.
Given that the Warriors play a combined 21 regular-season games in October and November, Wiseman will likely miss at least one-quarter of the season. That’s a setback for a team aiming to become a true contender again with the aid of the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft.
Their top pick in the this year’s draft, forward Jonathan Kuminga, will be reevaluated in a week as he recovers from a strained patella, Anthony Slater of The Athletic tweets. Kuminga appeared in two preseason games before he was sidelined.
Not cool. Didn’t think his injury was serious. Sure taking long to heal. Was expecting a big year from him. I guess this will get others ready to play. Second half their depth should be solid. Considering they get back Wiseman and Klay.
Curry is sure looking good. Rooting for Kuminga .
He tore his meniscus in his knee. When he was injured the timeline to come back was around 6-9 months. So Wiseman is on par with his recovery
Sure a long time for someone who takes a long time to adapt to nba. Wiseman looked lost! I would of saved the money and not picked wiseman and I would of resign javalle McGee and draft ball. Wiseman might have potential.. but when?so we still have 3 rooks on the team this year
McGee didn’t want to re-sign with the Warriors.
Those rooks are not ready to a win now schedule
What schedule are you mumbling about?
Doesn’t sound like Wiseman or Klay Thompson is coming back any time soon.
Like clockwork.
Thanks for your insightful input, RocketBoy.
I suppose you would prefer the blind optimism put forth by Warriors fans?
No. We prefer someone who actually knows what they are talking about. It has been widely reported that Wiseman was going to start the season at Santa Cruz, injury or not. He will be there working with the new coach he hired. So, you are just overstating the obvious…And you have no clue as to where Klay is at in his recovery. And yet, you keep stating that you do…I don’t understand why you feel you need to do that.
Clearly he’s upset about his franchise falling apart without ever beating the Warriors so he’s doing anything he can to bring Warrior fans down
And if you want to keep criticizing blind optimism, look what what just happened a quarter mile up 3rd Street.
