Seth Curry has been one of the bright spots in the early portion of the season for the Sixers, averaging a career-high 15.7 PPG with an outstanding shooting line of .515/.443/.935. Curry recently spoke to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype about a number of topics, including the early portion of his career, his breakout season, the Ben Simmons situation, career goals, and more.
Scotto asked Curry what has led him to the breakout season he’s having. Curry says he’s a well-rounded offensive player, no matter who’s in the lineup.
“I think I’m a pretty versatile player. I can catch and shoot, stretch the floor, play off guys who draw a lot of attention like Joel [Embiid] and Ben [Simmons]. When those guys are out, I feel like I can play in the pick-and-roll. My mid-range game is pretty good. I think I can put the ball on the floor and score. I just pride myself on being able to do a lot of different things offensively and taking good shots,” Curry said.
The interview is worth checking out in full.
Here’s more from the Atlantic:
- Sixers rookie center Charles Bassey, the last 2021 draft pick to sign a contract, recently flashed significant potential in Embiid’s absence, writes Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
- Sixers two-way player Grant Riller has recovered from meniscus surgery and is now playing in the G League, tweets Gina Mizell of the Inquirer.
- Knicks guard Evan Fournier knows he needs to bring more to the table earlier in the game in light of his recent fourth-quarter benchings, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “I think the situation right now is I don’t know how many minutes I’m going to play, so I have to have the mindset of if I’m going to play 20 minutes, then just come out the gate with extreme energy,” Fournier said. “Being very alert. Being ultra-aggressive. And trying to have an impact.”
76ers beat injury Nuggets last night
Warriors are more impressive
Without 5 best players, Warriors won tonight
Without
Curry
Klay
Green
Iguodala
Wiseman
Wiggins led the team …
Warriors defeat the healthy team tonight
Silly Sullivan the Sixers are the injury plagued team my sixer hater. Doc doing a super impressive job mixing his young pups and mostly bench players as they gain experience. When this top 3 team without the big baby Ben is fully healthy, will you concede.
Wiseman and Iggy are not among the Warriors 5 best players. Six and a half years ago Iggy was one of their top 5 players when he was the Finals MVP, but not now. You can hardly put Wiseman ahead of Wiggins or Poole either.
Iggy has been top 4 this season by 538 WAR. He is offensively a massive positive despite minimal counting stats, but his defense has been next level so far where the only player rating higher is GPII on D.
I do have some bones to pick with most of the stats not understanding how amazing Dray is.
Look into vorp. Dray is tied for 23rd best player in nba so far this season.
I know. Doesnt change the fact that most rating systems like +- dont really love him. The better system RAPTOR from 538 doesnt get his goodness either.
Fournier started out looking good, but now pretty disappointing.
Curry has continued to impress me. His midrange game was something I didn’t realize he had until he was in a Sixers uniform.
The Warriors are a great team, and it was impressive for them to beat Detroit without Steph,& Dray, but Iggy plays about 18 min/game, Klay has been out for 2 years, and Wiseman has played about 40 games? So the big 2 were missing and they beat a non-playoff Eastern conference team.
The 76ers are without Embiid, Thybulle, a star defensively and getting better offensively, and Simmons an all star and 1st team def. Player. and playing against the #3 seed from the West last year, and Jokic was taken out of his game early, and the 76ers won by 20+ pts. I’d say the 76ers win is the better upser
On the flip side by the playoffs the top 7 in min may be Steph/Dray/Klay/Wiggins/Wiseman/Iggy/Poole.
Wiseman gets the nod since if he has improved at all he is the starting 5 and earning the most min of him/Loon/Belli.
I love how curry threw in “when guys like Joel and Ben are out” hahaha
All Wiseman has to do is rebound and set picks and Learn. Season is early but the Warriors are going to be scary.
As we saw last night Wiggins is not a fourth-quarter crunch-time guy. He went to the basket and had the ball stripped from him, turned it over and the defensive team going the other way. I cringe when he’s in the game in these situations.
Sure he’s looking good but he’s on my “first three-quarters all star team” with DeMar DeRozan and Dominique Wilkins and Tom Chambers. They will not get it done with the game on the line.
I’ve said this time and time again. The Warriors will move Wiggins the first chance they can but in the meantime they’re putting a lot of polish on his game to make him shine and look as best as he possibly can.
And don’t talk about his salary.. it doesn’t matter if he’s making 10 million or 30 million.. just because he gets you 20 doesn’t mean at the end of the game he can get you 2. Hope something happens at the trade deadline. There has to be a stud that becomes available. This roster would be perfect with a nice little replacement for Andrew Wiggins. Perfect combination of veterans and Youth. As the guy said, the Warriors could be scary this year. Can’t wait till they play Phoenix on TNT in a couple weeks. We’ll see how they stand up to a really tough team in the West.
Charles Bassey is sure looking like a nice pick late in the first round. I’ve watched him a couple times now and he’s looking like a player. Good for him and the Sixers.
Bassey was a good pick. But Sixers don’t need him. He’s and old school center that can get mins on a team that needs a center.
Fournier was brought here to shoot. Needs to stop looking only for threes. Tired of seeing Randle think he’s the offense. Fournier needs to run the offense. Kemba needs to run the offense. Stop trying to please Randle. Knicks have forgotten they Win as a team. They are talented as a group. They have the depth. Right now there is no offensive flow. All iso ball and throw up threes. Thibs needs to get a grip on this. Hopefully the Bulls will bring out the real Knicks.
