Cavaliers forward Cedi Osman has settled in to his second unit role and is enjoying a bounce-back season, Chris Fedor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer writes. Osman has made 43.6% of his 3-point attempts this season and has averaged 20 points over the last three games. He shot 30.6% from deep last year and averaged fewer points while playing more minutes.
“His role is to be a spark off the bench,” coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “Take and make open shots and facilitate when the defense dictates it. We’ve tried our best to simplify his role. He’s bought into the team and he’s trying to do what’s best for the group. He’s become a star in his role.”
We have more from the Central Division:
- Center Nikola Vucevic said that being traded to the Bulls last season was a mutual decision between him and the Magic‘s front office, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. “It was something that we discussed a lot and it was mutually agreed,” he said. “It wasn’t a situation where they told me I wasn’t going to get traded, and then I get traded. A lot of it came from my communication with them, so it wasn’t a surprise for me. … It wasn’t working the way we wanted it, and I think it worked out for both parties in the end.’’
- Despite the Pistons’ poor record, The Athletic’s James Edwards III doubts the front office will make any significant trades this season. Jerami Grant is the one significant player who could be moved, but Edwards doubts it. The most likely trade candidates are Josh Jackson (unrestricted free agent) and Hamidou Diallo (team option for next season). Coach Dwane Casey has job security after signing an extension this year, Edwards adds.
- The Bulls’ reliance on small ball is a concern, K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago writes. Houston ended its 15-game slide against Chicago, which has lost two straight. The Bulls are now at a pivotal point in their season. “There’s got to be an internal drive,” coach Billy Donovan said. “We have shown signs of doing that. But we haven’t shown signs of doing it consistently enough.”
Jerami Grant to >>>> Knicks …. please
Love his game. He’d fit us like a glove. He’s a Thibs kind of player (2way), who always plays hard. I’d give up Mitch and Toppin plus Det 2nd rd pick we own. For Grant and Garza
This trade is not even close to possible considering the financial side.
More likely to be Fouriner and Toppin for Grant and someone. Need to salary match.
Not to mention Pistons need more shooting and big man depth
Mitch is due for contract. If Noel got 10 mill a yr. And Celtics Williams got 12 mill a yr. Mitch is worth at least that probably more. If he was playing like last yr. A starting Center and a starting 4 (Toppin). Who will avg 20 a gm in Det. Plus a high 2nd rd pick. Grant is on books for 20 mill, 21 mill next yr. They’re not paying him. So he will be moved. I’d even give up a #1 pick. Mitch can still be DPY center. So we can sign n trade him. If not trade next yr
20 a game in Detroit.
What?
He must mean that Robinson and Toppin combined will average 20 PPG in Detroit, although in NY they combine for just 15 PPG.
I doubt you ever watched them play ever. Stick to glorifying exRockets. CP3 is still waiting on your apology, by the way.
Why not, with 32-34 mins. With Cade and Hayes I’d say he’s a 20 and 10 guy. He’s practically there now at 36 per.
Osman is succeeding because there is always a great PG on the floor this year (DG/Rubio). Last year, Darius missed a lot of time and there was no backup PG (Delly and Exum injured and traded). So Osman played backup PG behind Sexton who is below average at that position even when Osman is on the court. Point is, he is playing off-ball and being given the ball in the right spots.
Orlando probably feels great about the Vucevic trade right now. Chicago ehh, we’ll see. Probably too early to judge. Maybe Vooch ends up being a key piece on a playoff team.
Even with Vucevic returning from a 7-game absence, they lost to Houston.
That trade worked out well for the Bulls even if it only helped them attract Derozan, Ball, Caruso, and potentially keep LaVine.
At the very least, I’m happy with it if only for those reasons. Heck, the Bulls are actually a fun team to watch and root for again. I’ll take that trade ANYDAY!!
Bulls, Wizards, Hornets all playing well. All were expected to do better this yr. Right now are probably ahead of schedule. We’ll see if it holds up. East is definitely deeper this yr. Which real fans knew was coming. But with Sixers issues. Bucks having champions drag. And Hawks having a doze off reality. I’d say we got till half way. To see the real change this yr. Nothing gets done in 18 gms.
The East looks like it could be 12 deep. Pacers are not that bad. Bulls to me look like the team who will sustain this. They got all stars who want to win. But their depth is suspect. Specifically losing Williams. Williams could be back for playoffs. And Bulls can make a move by TD. So Bulls look like they are in it.
Bucks are not having championship drag. They’re having the 3 out of 4 best players have missed a lot of games drag.
The Bulls can’t keep playing guards against 280 lb. C’s and PF’s all year. They will have to bring in some help from somewhere. Still surprised Simonovic isn’t getting at least a look. Either his back injury was worse than anyone is saying, Or they should of left him playing overseas. Either way, I now have complete faith in AK and Eversley to make the right moves to get what we need.
