After removing Kemba Walker from their rotation on Monday, the Knicks have received inquiries from three teams asking about potential trades for the point guard, sources tell Jordan Schultz of the Pull Up Podcast (Twitter link).
According to Schultz (Twitter link), it’s unclear whether or not Walker is on the trade block after signing a two-year, $18MM deal in the summer. A. Sherrod Blakely of Bleacher Report wrote last night that league sources believe New York will look to trade Walker, but it’s not clear whether those sources have any inside info or are just speculating.
Walker, who was an All-Star as recently as 2020, has been slowed by knee issues in recent years and was off to a slow start in his hometown this season. He averaged 11.7 PPG, 3.1 APG, and 2.6 RPG in 18 games (24.5 MPG) before being removed from the Knicks’ starting lineup and rotation.
Although Walker’s shooting numbers – including a .413 3PT% – remain solid, his defensive shortcomings have been especially glaring in New York. The Knicks have a 116.3 defensive rating and a -13.3 net rating with Walker on the court, compared to a 99.0 defensive rating and +11.2 net rating when he sits.
It remains to be seen how long the Knicks intend to keep Walker out of their rotation and whether he’ll benefit from resting his knees. If the team does consider moving him, it can’t happen yet — as an offseason signee, he doesn’t become trade-eligible until December 15.
Walker is under contract for another year beyond this season, but his $9MM annual cap hits would make him much easier to move than someone like John Wall, who is earning $45MM+ per year.
Cavs could use a sexton replacement
Rubio is better than Kemba currently, as sad as that is.

Lakers could use him, Sixers as well
Yes, Lakers need more passed their prime guys with injuries. Lol
They seem to have a type, lol
Please I hope the Lakers take Kemba
I hope the Lakers get kemba so bad haha
Lol… Right! Kemba And Fournier Are The Last ChampionShip Pieces For The New York Knicks. Kemba Will Go Nowhere Because You Can’t Afford Him.
By ChampionShipSports888@gmail.com
Check That! Did You Really And Honestly Think That Kemba Would Go Anywhere Else When He Took A Pay Cut Because He Wanted To Play In New York? Definitely, He Will Get Better, A Lot Better.
Guaranteed.

lmao what person in the Knicks front office leaked this? He’s been pretty bad this year and he’s only going to get worse. No explosiveness off the dribble, no ability to attack the rim, and horrible defense. No one wants him unless it’s for some kind of cap- or salary-related reason.
I really don’t get you. You only see the bad. Then magnify it by 10 to help your point. Then you call yourself a Knick fan.
Let me explain the reality of the situation. His D has been bad. But the whole starting 5 D is bad. Most of that falls on Mitch. Cause he’s the anchor on D. Yes on D he is worrisome. But so are a few guys.
He’s avg 12 pts in 24 mins. After avg 20 a gm for last 2 yrs at 31 mins. The chemistry has not really worked yet. If I have to explain that to you. Then I don’t really get you. It seems at this point. He might be better off like Rose. Backing up for 20-25 mins. And give you efficient solid mins. But we have that already. So maybe now you get why I wanted Dinwiddie. Kemba still got plenty of gm. He doesn’t need explosiveness. He can still get to rim. You get to rim off the offense too.
Point is Thibs doesn’t need another vet off the bench. He needs quality starting mins both ways. Again Dinwiddie. So I get his frustration. But to blame it on Kemba. Is just inexcusable for a REAL NYK fan.
Only people who talk ball. Use stats to talk about a guys D. D is a team effort. A team can help anyone look good. Knicks Team D has been bad. Especially compared to last yr. It’s easy to single out one guy.
If Mitch and Randle played like last yr. We’d have 4 more wins Easy. EASY (15-4) and at that NO One would be saying Shhhh
You say this like someone who bet a lot of money on Kemba. But you’re right the knicks just suck in general.
Al, I don’t need your condescending explanations. There’s nothing incorrect with what I said. I’m not blaming anything on Kemba, simply talking about how bad he’s been. Which you seem to agree with, so I don’t understand your attitude.
The numbers speak for themselves. Kemba has a -122 +/- this year. He’s ranked 451st in the league in +/- per game. Thibs removed him from the rotation. Do you think he did that for fun?
He can’t get to the rim, he has no explosiveness, he’s bad on defense. He’s shooting great, but that’s all you can say for him right now. These are just facts.
I am a ‘real’ Knick fan. Been watching since the early 90s. Just because I don’t heap praise on every Knick like you do, doesn’t mean I’m not a fan. Give me a break.
That’s the point . How bad HE’S been. You definitely don’t watch games. I’m not condescending, I’m taking to a clueless fan. Like I said if they win 4 more gms. Which if you watch. They should off easily. You have a different take. You do t know ball. You just like to critique.
“I’m not condescending, you’re clueless”
You seem to have issues with that. Really seemingly went off for nothing only to say how much better of a fan you are haha. Yikes
So you think this is about a fan issue. Go pull your pants up child. Let adults talk. I know you don’t want me on you.
@al – gotta admit it’s entertaining watching you spin off the planet.
Nope. The point is you have no point, just spouting off nonsense.
Kemba has basically become Isaiah Thomas post-injuries. Can do a few things offensively depending on the night but his D makes him all but unplayable.
Maybe as a 6th man he could work somewhere. But with Rose and Quickley we don’t really need him in that role.
Not every Knick fan who watches the games, agrees with you. Half your comments are good, half aren’t. This wasn’t a good one.
Unrelated question; are my friends and I the only people tired of Spike Lee?
Time for JB Smoove to take front row.
So much for that ballyhooed return to NY for Kemba! Nice career that’s nearing an end.
Swallow with pride. They got more to feed you.
One of the LA teams, leaked by Walker’s mgmt for sure
China?
I mean, he is under contract for this year and next. So probably not.
Ok I said Knicks would look to trade. To wake them up. I doubt Sixers want anything we got. But two guys I’d look at are Grant and Turner. Both 2way players. That won’t gut this team. And make us much better. We do t need the Huge trade
As a Pistons fan would gladly trade NY Grant. But not for Walker. For Barret and Mitchell Rob.
How about Mitch, Toppin, Quickley, 2nd rd pick. For Grant and Garza
I would take that too.
Dude , I love Grant. One of best 2way players in gm.
NEVER! You are not a Knicks fan obviously.
Warriots ??? even i wish Myers looked at Rose in the off season
Not surprising. Realize that, despite how it’s characterized, players aren’t really traded, contracts are, and Kemba’s contract is (beyond) team friendly (at a level that can only be the case after a buyout). He was never a fit with the Knicks. But the proposition was one they couldn’t refuse (no competent FO would in their position).
Even with Kemba’s pathetic defense, he’d likely stay in the rotation with most teams, as an instant offense guy off the bench. He may fill that role with the Knicks at some point this season. But at this stage, his complete removal from the rotation is the right move, for now.
Still, I doubt the Knicks are in a rush to trade him, unless he requests it. To what end? They have no cap space (or luxury tax concerns) either way until the summer of 2023 (after he’s off the books).
Kemba wont be traded so soon, trade deadline is the earliest. No one in NY are in a hurry to trade him, not even Kemba himself. Imo he will be back in rotation by the end of season.
I can’t believe someone is willing to trade for him.
I’m sure the Mavs are one of them. They almost signed him as a FA
Ha! Who is asking on Kemba right now?
Houston for John Wall?
Edit: yeah money doesn’t line up, but he’s been terrible and declining since before last year.
Why would somebody want a player who is hobbled and in steep decline? Is he the poor man’s John Wall?
Harden is killing us
Pretty simple one here, Kemba for Dragic. Raps current backup PG is Banton, who has played great for a 2nd round rookie, but he’s still a 2nd round rookie. Kemba may not have a bunch left in the tank, but with the Raps letting Dragic head home for a while, he’s not giving them anything anyway.
Truth is, Dragic does have a family concern, but Ujiri’s Raps have always been good at not letting things like a guy preferring to play somewhere else get into the news. Dragic ain’t coming back to Toronto, that’s pretty obvious. Though the Knicks are only a fringe contender, it’s still a likely playoff team which is what Goran is looking for at this stage of his career.
Let’s relax with Kemba leaving. It’s 20 gms and the world is still round. Why you want to go for him. Is all media generated. Bunch of geniuses. Think for yourself and stop swallowing it all. We all knew Kemba was a shot worth taking. It wasn’t a fix all. So relax and show some respect. For yourselves
Would be great for Lakers but that deal doesn’t happen cause they have no contracts to offer in a trade other than the big three or THT which won’t happen.
Sixers have a lot more options and flexibility.
Kemba and Knox for Green and Korkmaz plus a second rounder ?
Hell no
We all knew Kemba may not work. We all knew he wasn’t the savior. What we wanted was healthy solid mins. So he and Rose could hold down the PG. It was suppose to be PG by committee. His D does need help. But we ain’t helping him. Personally I think Randle doesn’t like fact he’s getting too much press. Cause he sure played different with Nets. Than when he played with Kemba. Knicks are not beating good teams. Unless they play as a team. And use their depth. It’s that simple. We haven’t been doing that consistently this yr. It’s not one guy. Personally I still see rebuilding going on. So there’s no need to get crazy over one move.
Dinwiddie was the guy we needed. He’s a big PG. who plays both ways. And closes gms out managing them. I’m the only guy on this board. Who said Fournier and Dinwiddie since the beginning of 2020 season. Cause I knew both were FAs. And brought what we needed most. We got no superstars. We got good players and depth. Only way we beat superstar good teams. Is by playing 48 mins and using our depth. We do that. We can play with anyone.
