The Pelicans have green-lit one-on-one contact drills for All-Star forward Zion Williamson, according to a team press release.
The third-year forward, drafted with the top pick out of Duke in 2019, has missed all of the 2021/22 season to this point due to fractured right foot he sustained during the offseason.
The Pelicans add that further medical imaging next week will determine if Williamson can partake in full team practices at this juncture. The latest imaging, conducted on November 11, led to the decision to clear Williamson for the one-on-one drills.
Whenever the 6’7″, 284-pound forward does hit the floor, it will be a massive salve for New Orleans. As of this writing, the club is the No. 14 seed in the Western Conference with a 2-13 record. Forward Brandon Ingram, an All-Star in 2020, missed seven of those 13 losses due to a nagging hip injury.
Williamson has struggled to manage his health and fitness thus far in his NBA career. He played in just 24 games during his rookie season due to a meniscus tear. The 21-year-old holds career averages of 25.7 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 3.2 APG, on .604/.333/.683 shooting, across 85 contests.
One and one with the Chinese buffet…
6’6″ and 300+ is current Barkley territory.
Everyone is built differently, for sure, and I bet there isn’t an ounce of fat on Zion, but that weight doesn’t suit basketball – a game of sudden movement and unpredictable jumping and landing. It’s a shot put build, or NFL.
I think people are missing that he’s fighting his genetic makeup to be much lighter than he was last season and that part of his effectiveness is his strength – defenders literally bounce off him.
All luck to him, he’s a good guy.
I don’t know, last season he broke the record for longest 20+ ppg streak in nba history. He has 40 inch vert and had what like 28ppg average last season. He was like unstoppable I think everyone is being to dramatic about his situation.
He’s barely played 50% of games since being drafted #1 overall. Comparatively speaking, Ja is a better player because being healthy counts. He broke his foot in the off season and ballooned to over 300 lbs. He’s a RFA in 2023 and he could leave $ on the table to leave given he’s earning more in endorsements. He’s slowly approaching Sam Bowie territory. I think the drama is justified.
glen big baby davis, jared sullinger, tractor traylor.
That record is held by Wilt Chamberlain, at 126 games, over two seasons. Zion had 25, it’s not even close to being an NBA record.
Harden’s streak of 32 consecutive 30-point games was much closer to the actual record of 65 consecutive games, also held by Wilt.
Pels need to go 39-28 to break even this season. Probably get them in a play in situation.
They won’t.
284 LBs my brass. More like one on two drills
Can’t wait for Zion to come back, such a beast of a guy!
Also is so great that he is body wise different than anyone in the league, just hope he don’t start losing weight, as it will effect his game negatively, Zion is unstoppable the way he is just now!
See u for a Xmas showcase special
Zion needs to start doing McDonald’s commercials asap
Zion over 260 will not last in NBA. His body WILL breakdown. It’s called physics .

At 6’ 6” . Zion should never be over 260-265 LBs. Especially the way he plays. His joints just won’t stand the strain. Remember the sneaker !!!!!! Well that’s what his joints feel like. One day !!!!! Get a Chef lol
