The Warriors have assigned Klay Thompson and James Wiseman to the team’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, the club announced on social media.
Thompson, who has missed the past two seasons due to a torn ACL and torn Achilles, will practice with Santa Cruz on Sunday. Joining the club’s G League affiliate is the latest step in his lengthy recovery.
Wiseman underwent surgery to repair a torn right meniscus in April. Golden State cleared him to participate in full team practices earlier in the month, but he has yet to play in a game this season. He averaged 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 21.4 minutes in 39 games during the 2021/22 campaign.
Despite Thompson and Wiseman being sidelined, the Warriors have opened the season with an impressive 17-2 record. Guards Jordan Poole and Damion Lee have helped make up for Thompson’s absence, while big men Kevon Looney and Nemanja Bjelica have impressed during their respective minutes.
Wow !!!! That’s good news for Warriors. Another step closer. God speed …..
Warriors sent superstar and young star to G League and can still win
They are for real
If superteam Lakers lose to Pistons tonight and I were a Lakers gm, I’d assign Davis and LeBron to G league to defend Klay Thompson and Wiseman
Silly?
That IS why you’re called Silly-van.
18-2 bing bong
Starting to feel like that championship season again. Big test against the Suns on Tuesday. I am expecting a split of the 2 games.
The Warriors need another closer. They need one more person who can create their own shot.., and make it in the fourth quarter of a tight playoff game. Right now its curry and ? You need that second stud, that closer.
Poole and Wiggins seem capable of creating their own shot. As much as I am of a fan of Klay shot creation was never his strong suit.
Yes you’re right and those are the 2 names that immediately come to mind, but they’re not polished. W’s need a star, not a maybe. Not a “cross your fingers” and hope for the best. A gamer.
I believe that the lack of a second closer will keep the Warriors from reaching great heights this year.
Poole is for real
Michol, Poole is greatly improved.
He has the potential to be a Creator and scorer as well as marksman from 3. But he’s not there yet, he’s a little too erratic.
But he’s come a long way and it’s fun to watch him play. He’s a wizard with the ball and he’s Fearless going to the hole and he can shoot from anywhere on the court. But the execution of these things on a consistent basis will take him some time. It’s all good he’s getting there.
We all understand what you mean. We all get it. But W’s are making it up with great defense, great passing, great teamwork, chemistry, and so on. It could be better than having a star who throws up bricks after bricks and turnovers at the end of the games. NO one is saying the Title is already won, but the current roster is legit contender. BTW, every contender in NBA is flawed right now.
I guess one way to look at it is if in a playoff game Curry gets double-teamed the Warriors will have such great ball movement and unselfishness and spot-up shooting will be fantastic that they were overcome the need for a second star.
Curry gets double-teamed, say near the logo, so he’ll kick it and it’ll be four on three from that point. Someone will be open and that someone can probably nail the shot. Doesn’t necessarily have to “create.”
As long as the ball movement is there and with this roster of unselfish guys like the Warriors have been these last 5-7 years, it’ll be enough to get it done. Yeah that’s a good point. I’ll roll with that.
A “star”??? Like who?
That’s the question Mike.. not sure who’s available, if anyone. Will things open up at the trade deadline ? But they do need to upgrade or they will fall short.
The good teams have two closers on their roster. Warriors have one.
Warriors will have a closer if stay healthy. They will have a lineup of Curry, Thompson, Wiggins, Green, and Wiseman all that can shot the ball. If they go small Poole slides into Wiseman slot.
The Warriors still have their mid-level $5.4 million exception. Most believe due to their salary cap penalties issues they won’t use it. But, I’m not so sure. They might use it late in the year when teams begin to purge. Especially is anyone on the Warriors is nursing an injury, etc. We will see but they could add a veteran later.
The season is early but man the Warriors are looking really good!
Yes their one star is looking amazing and he finally has a Supporting Cast again. And their defense is top-notch. Definitely formula for success.
Warriors are still on pace to win 74 games
Stop it. That would be an unsuccessful season because they will have spent way too much needless effort trying to achieve that. I know you’re not saying they’re trying to win 74 games and it’s just their current pace.., but don’t even bring it up. Not happening at all.
Or they just keep winning late in the season while also resting guys. If your getting wins like the DET game where its Poole and Wigs go for it. Let Kuminga play late season against bad teams and hunt wins.
Sillyman is really Marty lol …….
