The Nets are resting Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge for tonight’s game in Houston, tweets Mark Medina of NBA.com. Durant played more than 40 minutes in Tuesday’s win at Dallas, and Brooklyn is being careful not to overextend Aldridge, who briefly retired at the end of last season due to a heart condition.
There have been concerns about the heavy minutes that Durant and James Harden have seen this season with the loss of Kyrie Irving and injuries to other rotation players. Harden said Tuesday that neither of them minds the increased workload, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
“One thing about me and KD, we love to play basketball,” Harden said. “So it don’t matter. We could play the whole 48. Even if we’re exhausted. Coach says something — nope. We wanna stay in the game. We wanna play.”
There’s more from New York City:
- Harden received a mostly positive reaction when he was introduced tonight in Houston, tweets Brian Lewis of The New York Post. Harden, who played more than eight seasons with the Rockets before forcing his way out in January, returned to Houston for a game last season, but the crowd was limited because of COVID-19 restrictions. “I think it definitely means something to James,” Nets coach Steve Nash said. “I don’t want to overstate it, but I also don’t want to understate it. He had such a historic run here. This city means a ton to him.”
- A report that the Pacers are exploring trades involving Myles Turner could be significant to the Knicks, who checked on Turner’s availability during the offseason, according to Ian Begley of SNY.tv. Those talks didn’t go very far, Begley adds, but New York’s front office remains interested in finding a center who can stretch the floor. The Knicks have multiple ways to match Turner’s $17.5MM salary, Begley notes, and Mitchell Robinson, Nerlens Noel or Taj Gibson would likely be included in any deal.
- Tom Thibodeau’s search for lineup solutions will be much easier if RJ Barrett continues to shoot the way he did in Tuesday’s win over the Spurs, per Mike Vaccaro of The New York Post. Barrett broke out of a 13-game shooting slump with a 32-point night while going 7-of-8 from beyond the arc. “I was down for a couple of weeks, but I’m feeling better now,” Barrett said. “It was good to get back in the gym, it was great and to have a game like today. Hopefully that can carry on for (Wednesday).”
Knicks two team leaders have to shoot 3 pointers with high degree of accuracy, otherwise they won’t make playoffs
Randle
RJ
Have to shoot at least 38% 3pt
Celtics and Hawks may improve
They r at best a 500 team with no leader
No leader, no star. Thibs is panicking. Last year I think created too high expectations. Everyone’s knows this is a stars league, and we don’t have one. Teams watched a lot of tape on Randall this off-season it seems. I trust in Leon Rose, and I do think a star is coming.
Just finished watching the Knicks vs Pacers and I’m convinced Thibs is losing the team. How do you start a often injured center Noel when he plays every other game. I would love for our beloved NY Knicks to get their hands on Sobinas who game is so complete with his scoring rebounding and passing. Randal the 100 million dollar man looks uninspired and running everything through him is nauseating to watch I’m sick of this Thibs play calling.Time for Guitar Jimmy Dolan to to start acting like the Grinch to get this offensively challenge coach to get off his stubborn ass before these loses keep mounting. This team should not be looking this bad b
The GM bringing in Fournier and Walker doesn’t make too much sense knowing how thibs plays, as a bulls fan I’m never mad to see the knicks play bad, but this AAU iso offense they run is pretty much what’s causing inflation in America it’s so brutally awful, I would like to see them trade for Brandon Ingram though, helps their offense with a true alpha scorer but is also a losing player and Knicks fans still suffer, perfect
Kkkk…AAU….inflation….good one…
Spot on.
That Randle offense is getting old. They didn’t do it against the Spurs. They have been more an offense 40% of times. But their record is based on their D. Their team D is nowhere near. What it was last yr. That starts with Mitch. Then Noel being banged up.
I guess most of you don’t know. Knicks didn’t going last yr. Till end of season. They were
28-27 then went 13-4 to close out season.
All I’m saying is. They are not a contender that’s suppose to play big this yr. They are a team that had success. By playing hard and playing as a team. Using their depth.
This yr they added a few pieces. And draft pieces. That take time to work. IMO Randle and Mitch. Are the biggest drop offs from last yr. Mitch is out of shape. And Randle has reverted back to year before. Where this iso ball is just a ball stopper.
As bad as Knicks play this yr. They still are a .500 team with good wins. Plenty of time to right the ship. But it is frustrating.
Been saying it since last yr. Love to have J Grant on this team. Also think Myles Turner would be a great addition. The pressure to win in NY is too high now. So when most see some success. They want more and thing it’s a given. Nothing is a sure thing in life. Knicks are still in rebuilding phase. So a good solid trade to upgrade with a young vet. Is the next projected move. Doesn’t make sense to go after major star. Cause it would take too much. McBride, Samanic, Grimes, Sims, Simms are all solid good talents. That can be in rotation. Knicks should give one or two of young guys some PT.
Couldn’t disagree more. You post too much. It’s mostly nonsense, other people who post never like your posts and it’s seriously annoying. Don’t you realize you never get likes? Do you think people enjoy your posts? You always talk about how you used to play as if anyone cares. You say the same things over and over. Anyone who disagrees with you either doesn’t watch basketball or is a clown or should focus on their own team according to you. I wish this site would bring back downvoting and I wish they’d stop deleting my posts when I express these opinions. I can’t read the Knicks comments without all this spam from this one dude, it’s ridiculous.
Maybe you guys who run this site can create a button where you can omit posts from users you don’t like. Like how you can block people on social media or mute people you don’t wanna hear on PSN or XBOX. That way when there’s someone who’s really annoying and constantly spamming the comments section, we can just avoid them altogether.
It’s called don’t read it.
I don’t always do anything. Except speak my truth. The Knicks issues are the same all yr. Until they change.
Why do you even care about this team. You obviously got nothing to say about them. All you is post about me. I apologize for knowing more than you. Real fans know their teams. And know what they say.
there is literally a mute button that does exactly this…
How did I not even see that, thank you! Al is officially muted thank goodness
I love Thibs, but he needs to be paired with someone more creative offensively; otherwise, his team will always have a limited ceiling.
Let it all out, man…..
One of reasons to get Kemba playing here. Was to see the PG run the offense more. And get more ast as a team. And to push the ball more. None of that really happened. Mostly cause of Randle imo. We all knew Kembas D could be an issue. But when Mitch plays like this. It only makes it look worse. Not that Kemba was going to be the answer. But they haven’t used him right. And this iso ball on offense. Is just not going to upgrade team. It’s why the second unit has much better offensive flow. They have more movement and share the ball.
Pacers 27 ast. Knicks 17 ast.
Pacers 10-27 (3PT), Knicks 9-30 (3PT)
Knicks are also three happy this yr. Instead of just playing the offense. Thibs has to get a grip on this. This won’t go on much longer. There will be pressure to make a trade. NY is not patient. Even though we’ve just begun Thibs 2nd yr.
Knicks won’t be real conference contenders until they either draft a star, or attract one hear via free agency. They’ve went to a total joke where no one would sign here, to now they have credibility. Leon Rose is to thank for that. But when was the last time a team won a championship without a star? Never. You get the star, then you fill out around him. Players at the ends of their careers sign with you for vets minimum, once you get that star and are a serious contender. So people can over analyze the Knicks all they want, but they can’t accomplish anything without a star. After the last decade of failure, I’m glad we at least have a good executive running things, a great coach and some credibility with free agents now.
And yet he keeps trying ????
This is so adorable ……
Stick to MLB. You got nothing. There is not one original thought in anything you say. You are clueless. But worse you have a need to babble over subjects you don’t even understand. I’d explain it to you. But why bother, right.
Hey bro the guy is right. This is a star driving league and we have wiffed out year after Year when we had the most cap space so this rebuilding act your talking about will never come to fruition when your just good enough to make the playoffs but never bad enough to get the number one overall pick. How many times they said franchise changing free agents wanted to come to the NY Knicks but when Free agency comes around we can’t even get a cup of coffee with them. And you talk about our depth do you watch Knock games and do you realize even with a Mash unit this Stubborn ass coach refuses to take his starter’s out even in a blow out lose. And like the guy said you should stop bashing people who disagree with your comments because we all make fair points and we all may say some things that are a bit off because we are all human and just like we all have a__holes we all have the right to our own opinion. And like he said until we get a superstar it’s all going be we are rebuilding, next free agency, and what’s the next stop gap move.
Right about what. Knicks coach has been here 1 yr. And he’s coach of the year. Right about what. Is KD a FA or is someone coming from the dead.
Star driven league Fhrase is OLDER than both you put together. And you think you’re a Knick fan. You gotta be a Yankee fan. They’re the only idiots who think they can buy anything.
Like I said. Not an original thought anywhere. This would be comical if you Both weren’t so SAD.
The games are now. The year is now. This team is here now. We don’t have FA money for two yrs. So after one year you want to trade everyone. Yeah good luck with that.
Get some real knowledge ignorance only works against you. I can say there are none more fatuous than you guys.
School is still open.
Al, you’ve lost it. Seek help.
Hey Al I’m right about this coach is losing the team and this offense is nauseating to watch. Why do you come at people so rude and ignorant. Is your wife starving you of intimacy because you seem like a frustrated angry dude my friend. I hope she gives you a little TLC before The New Year Champ because it seems like the shop has been closed since before the pandemic bro. On another note you talk about no cap space for the next two years newsflash we wiffed out on the big fish the last few years when we had some of the most cap space so what difference does it make. And you talk about when you have a stubborn ass coach who plays mostly slow aging vets so you might have better luck getting a little from your wife than this rebuilding coming to fruition champ.

Knicks should just blow it up and rebuild again.
Ir maybe hire Al to the front-office, since he knows it all.
Couldn’t do worse. I’d have won by now. How is talking about one team. Knowing it all. I just more than most. But even the best are wrong. It’s sports, it’s why the HOUSE always wins. OK children school is closed
Here we go again. Condescending people who don’t agree with you. Which seems to be just about everyone. Again, no one likes your posts. You’re annoying and you’re spam. Is that what you’re trying to accomplish with your posts? Look at the feedback dude, no one cares what you have to say. It’s just annoying is all.
“you’re a spam”….kkkk….that was a good one….
What’s their to accomplish. It’s obvious some here will never get it. So you still need attention I see. Have you told us how many Knick gms you’ve watched this yr. And why
Teams are not put together by fans or popularity. All we can do is live with it. So you criticize it. Or find a way to make it work. Rebuilding takes time. Something Knicks are good at using. As their history tells us. So when you start a rebuild and it’s finally going right. You stick with it till it starts to show up. What part of 22 gms into Thibs second year. Do we find hard to understand. There will be bumps in the road. Only true talent follows his vision and sticks to the plan.
What rebuilding? You have no pieces. Look at Cavs, even Sexton is better than anything you have, and he is odd man in Cleveland. You had 2 ways,
1: s&t Randle, trade Mitch, some vets and keep rebuilding.
2: Get top fa for cap space you had and more if needed. Top 3 fa were DDR, Ball, Dinwiddie, and Rose who was signed as players GM failed in what was important, attracting players to 4th seed team.
A Cavs fan talking. Now that’s humorous.
I’m sure you go no clue what rebuilding is. So I’ll just move on.
Sexton will be gone soon. Nobody wants him. And Cavs don’t need him.
I actually we think we’ve come a long way rebuilding. Rebuilding our reputation around the league as far as not being a joke anymore. We rebuilt our front office with Leon Rose. We have a coach that won coach of the year, who’s respected around the league. We have some nice players and a nice nucleus to put around a star, when/if we get one.
Geez, lotta emotion for 25 games in –
The leagues completely muddled right now, some may like the parity, some may not, but that’s where we are at today so lets learn to accept it
I think the play in game/different seedings actually make the regular season better in so many aspects-
That 6 seed now becomes Big Doins and we should get some GREAT battles for it from about Valentines Day till the end of the season-
Knicks are a tough team that can probably navigate injs better than most, god forbid they happen (they will…too everyone) –
Nab the 6 seed and I think we see a lotta crazy randomness come June.
* Chip and a chair *
Just remember the geniuses here. When we are in the playoffs. And building for a future. You can’t really believe a 4th seed (2021) is not going to playoffs this yr. Knicks got no cap room for two yrs. Can only bring value of young players up. To upgrade team thru trade. They kill the players we have. Then talk about getting stars. These are the guys that trade for Mello. True geniuses lol.
Knicks should just blow it up and rebuild again.
Ir maybe hire Al to the front-office, since he knows it all.
NYK are in rebuild mode; or at least this FO, since taking over, has talked it and, to date, has walked it – pretty much without exception (in terms of their actions vs media reports). Maybe some don’t see it as a rebuild because it’s a real (classic) rebuild (aka the only kind of rebuild that’s ever worked). Not the “blow it up” (Presti/Hinke) version, which so many strangely embrace it even though its wide used and has never really worked.
Big picture, history is on the side of @Lyman Bostock in terms of how to put in the foundational stars of a championship level team. It’s almost always been through the draft and, more recently, high-end FAs. Trades for established players, at arms length, are, at best, an inefficient means of adding foundational stars. They can work if the acquiring team already has foundational stars, but otherwise such trades are mostly fools’ gold. While the past isn’t prolong, I think it would be wise to respect history’s edict here. Anyway, the Knicks aren’t close to the point where they can rationally think about trading for a true foundational star at market prices.
On the other hand, trades for “other” players (at price points that don’t include significant future assets) are a critical part of rebuilding. Even if its to reposition the team’s assets, as it moves forward. On this basis, I don’t see why the Knicks wouldn’t kick the tires on Turner. I think it’s unlikely IND would bite on what I think the Knicks should rationally offer, but you never know. There are lots of facts here that suggest a buy low window could open (again) on Turner. Gotta take a look.
Knicks are actually on a better pace than
Last yr. You’d think someone would actually look that up. We were (25-27) before finishing out
(16-4). Ending up 41-31 and the FOURTH seed. And the truth is we are not playing well now. So what does that really say.
See this is REAL knowledge from a fan who not only knows his team. But cares about his team. This is like yawning to me. It comes SO Natural……. I’m an Educator .. serio waay.
