Markelle Fultz took another step toward making his season debut, as he joined his Magic teammates in Los Angeles and practiced with the squad, according to Dan Savage of the team’s website.
Fultz, who has been rehabbing from an ACL injury to his left knee suffered early last season, called the practice a “great experience.” He participated in five-on-five and three-on-three scrimmages and shooting drills.
There’s still no timetable for Fultz’s return. He has practiced with the team’s G League affiliate in Lakeland and could spend more time with Lakeland, depending on the Magic’s practice, travel and game schedule.
We have more from the Southeast Division:
- Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has entered the league’s health and safety protocols and won’t play on Saturday, Ava Wallace of the Washington Post tweets. Additionally, Kuzma been fined $15K by the league for making an obscene gesture to a fan, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets. Kuzma made the gesture in Detroit on Wednesday. He scored 26 points that night and made the game-winning shot.
- Head coach Nate McMillan drew interest from two other teams after the Hawks’ surprising playoff run but was only interested in signing an extension with Atlanta, he told Marc Spears of The Undefeated. “The Hawks really started talking to us probably during the Eastern Conference Finals,” McMillan said. “They were like, ‘Look, we want you to come back.’ My thing was just to stay focused on the playoffs. And at the end of the season, the conversation was had.”
- Cam Reddish returned to action on Friday, though the Hawks forward went 0-for-6 from the field and didn’t grab a rebound in 17 minutes. Reddish hadn’t played since November 27 due to a left wrist sprain.
Rooting for Fultz. He’s had a rough go.
No he hasn’t
I’d consider getting drafted by Process Philly and playing in front of their fans a rough go for anyone not named Joel. Not to mention the injuries and yips that are not really his fault.
Then who’s fault are they? Fultz has gotten wealthy doing very little, and has set back the teams sacrificing for him. He’s lucky.
Praying for him too
Hard not to rout for Fultz. Hope he makes it to a level of a top pick!
With Cole Anthony emerging as a nice piece for them, does Fultz get deal in the offseason? Maybe to New Orleans?
For what? A bowl of gumbo?
I like the strides Fultz has so far. Too bad he got hurt. His stats are trending up. And he’s solid on defensive end. Also like he’s a big PG. But now in Magic land. With Anthony playing like the starter. And Suggs the future. Wonder what the Magic do here. Makes sense to move one for value.
Send Fultz or Cole Anthony to NYK? NYK needs a real PG and a young one at that. Fultz doesn’t need the ball to be effective so he would work nicely with Suggs.
Cole Anthony has more value, rookie contract with potential. If the Magic view Suggs as a future cornerstone, Fultz or Anthony gotta go
@Havlicek Anthony is not gonna go, I don’t think Fultz is either. Suggs is the most likely to go from my point of view.
Teams don’t give up on #6 picks after one year. All the PGs speak to management’s judgement so probably all will be kept by management. Just a short time ago, all were out of commission!
Also in theunit, MCW, Hampton, Mulder. ORL will go over willingly.
I knew I liked Kuzma.
Kuzmas biggest problem in LA was the stupid media trying to cast him as a Big 3. I cringed just typing that now myself in remembrance
It was nuts at the time, he did well considering everything, and Im glad he’s getting a REAL shot outside the Lakers to prove he’s an above avg NBA player not some punching bag for upset Laker Fans to take out their frustration on whenever they saw fit
Completely correct!!
Lakers fans constantly dumped on Kuzma, but he was actually really good for them. His role on the team wasn’t very glamorous, yet he came in every night and gave it 110%.
They’ll easily regret, and probably already do, letting him go for basically only salary matching purposes. Kuzma reminds me a bit of a Luol Deng, someone that does all the little things well, and ends almost every night with 12-18 and 5-7 rebounds, with a block or a steal, and a couple assists each game out.
Deng was always very underrated for what he brought to the table, and I feel the same for Kuzma. Kuz might not quite be the defender that Luol was, but he’s also better off the dribble..
Deng was way tougher and more consistent than Kuzma. They’re more like opposites since Kuzma was flashy like a third star.
Kuzma said himself he wanted to be the third star… that’s why the locals liked to pile on.
The problem is the third star concept itself. How’s it going for Russ, who did fine as first or second star with WAS & OKC.
Great news for ORL!
Finally they can play 2 proper guards in Cole Anthony & Fultz!
That will be a boost for the whole team!
