Isaiah Thomas will not receive another 10-day contract from the Lakers, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets. Thomas’ initial 10-day deal with the club expires tonight.
According to Charania, multiple teams are expected to express interest in Thomas, who averaged 9.3 PPG in four games for Lakers. That included a 19-point outing against Minnesota. Thomas was signed using the hardship exemption.
Thomas had been unable to secure an NBA opportunity through the season’s first two months. He signed a G League contract and joined the Grand Rapids Gold, Denver’s affiliate, where he delivered a 42-points, eight-assist game.
Prior to his Lakers’ stint, Thomas appeared in just 55 total NBA games since the start of the 2018/19 season for the Nuggets, Wizards, and Pelicans, averaging 11.1 PPG and 3.2 APG in 21.0 minutes. The 32-year-old was bothered for years by hip problems, but has said he’s fully healthy now and recently represented Team USA in a pair of qualifying games for the 2023 World Cup.
Uhhhhh I guess
Westbrook looks old. Lakers need Thomas.
In regard to basketball,
If LeBron is 37, Westbrook is 47.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how Westbrook compares to him.

Definitely not as bad as IT, but with his contract and losing KCP, Kuzma and Harrell plus when they traded for Westbrook…
IT scored 42 in one GLeague game and couldnt score a total of 42 in four NBA games.
Can he play in the NBA? Yes
Is he an NBA player? No
Hasn’t been in some time. IT could not even jog when he joined the Cavs, and had no plans for remedy.
Celtic Time again!!!
Do they back Brinks trucks up for 10 day contracts?
IT only seeing a Brinks truck if they hire him to drive one.
They don’t even back up the ice cream truck for those numbers.
Lakers have 5 all-time Greats.
LeBron
Davis
Melo
Howard
Westbrook.
I don’t know why Davis plays like 37 years old man. Davis needs quickness.
Rondo is not all time great.
I would agrue Howard isn’t as well
Lakers GM needs to pretend its somebody else than their fault for paying way too much to bad players.
Any team with 1 all-star and a few G League players and undrafted players can defeat Lakers these days.
LOL
Randle Ball Hart Kuzma Pope Harrell is better than Westbrook Davis. Lakers are now a rebuilding team unless ARIZA Nunn and Monk can rise up!
All these laker haters need to look at this rationally. Many injuries, covid, new players and lebron not playing 100% since it ain’t the playoffs means current performance isn’t reflective of true performance
I kind of agree with players the ages and experience of Lebron Melo Howard etc they’re saving themselves for the playoffs. And they’ll look strong, as long as they can get there in one piece.
But you have to admit the tactic of bringing in who they have and sacrifice the future is terrible management. Once Lebron backs down they’ll be in big trouble and AD, as everyone is saying, seems 10 years older than he is. I’d be worried for the future. Zero long term assets.
Lakers are done and LeBron has one foot in Cleveland already
Are the Lakers the only team with covid issues?
I haven’t seen much game action, but it seems like if you have a bunch of pieces that don’t fit, can’t stay healthy, or win, that’s not a good sign of future success.
Everyone deals with injuries and is now dealing with covid replacements, thus not a good excuse.
Lakers have had at any time this season any 2 of Lebron, Davis, and/or Westbrook combination available and still have looked lack luster.
We obviously need to consider the magnitude of covid impact (number of players out). Simply saying every team is dealing with covid is lackadaisical
I’m sure the bulls, nets, heat, and bucks (to name a few) can’t possibly fathom how hard the Lakers have been hit by the virus. How foolish to think maybe other teams have been hit as hard, or possibly even harder than LA. Besides, I just read that LeBron says covid is the same as a cold or the flu, so it shouldn’t be an issue for them at all.
Just accept that LBJ is right & move on, unless you can’t even fathom such a thing, then be stuck in misery for the rest of your life!
MPE9, You think the Nets have not been hit… even Irving counts as a covid absence in a way. As said elsewhere, the Lakers have had two stars at all times. This is just not their year.
LJ may have said covid feels to one person like a cold, but that is a selfish approach to it, as being a carrier/breeder is the issue.
Lakers at best are a second round team
IT was just as bad w/ the Lakers as he was last season with the Pelicans on his 10-day that everyone seemed to ignore. He hasn’t been an NBA player since the hip injury.
He had a good first game but shot 2-16 in his last two games – and he brings nothing beyond erratic scoring. No playmaking, no defense. He is unfortunately a novelty player at this point.
Isaiah looked horrible on court. All he does is stand around and shoot whenever he gets a chance. He was given ample playing time, but all he did was take shots from his teammates rather than creating opportunities for them. He didnt hustle, didnt play defense, didnt rebound, and was a liability on court. Very disappointed in him… still a selfish player.
