Warriors assistant coach Chris DeMarco has joined Mike Brown in the NBA’s health and safety coronavirus protocols, per Ramona Shelburne of ESPN (Twitter link). It was first announced that Brown had entered COVID-19 protocols on Thursday.
Shelburne notes that Golden State will be missing Brown, DeMarco and Kenny Atkinson, the team’s top three assistants behind head coach Steve Kerr, ahead of its Christmas Day game tonight in Phoenix against the Suns.
Atkinson, who suffered a leg injury in October, recently returned to the Warriors’ bench, but still isn’t traveling with the team for road games, per Shelburne and Anthony Slater of The Athletic (via Twitter).
The matchup represents a contest between the two top teams, by record, in the entire NBA. The Suns are 26-5 on the year and have won their last five straight games. The Warriors are 26-6 and have won two consecutive contests. Each team has defeated the other once so far this season.
Pretty sure with Atkinson returning to the last game and standing and walking fine off the bench that he can travel now. He made his return to on court work 2 days ago vs MEM.
Been weird with a player or coach going down every couple of days for them, but no wide spread outbreak yet…
At the half. Steph has 17 and Booker has 8. That’s the difference. Warriors don’t win without Steph making shots. Suns can without Booker scoring big. Kuminga is looking good. Warriors with a full team definitely are for real. To me these are two best teams in West.
Warriors with a nice win. Statement game today. Still missing players and played well. Their bench played well. Good game.
It always amazing to me. So called Warriors fans will criticize them for not signing G-League players. But, the Warriors keep winning. The Warriors don’t need a 7 foot tall stiff.
Not signing G-Leaguers ????? Warriors have gotten some real contributors from the G-League, JTA, GP2, Quinn Cook some years back … Never heard any criticism about that …
@kezarmike None of those players are 7 feet tall. They are a really strong team as they are right now.
Both teams very solid…..Warriors might be one or two players deeper on the bench. Looking forward to later in the season and these two are still battling for one of the top West seeds .
GSW is amazing. Nothing wrong with PHX.
GSW is doing it with mediocrities… sign of a great coach.
