Caris LeVert, Eric Gordon, and Terrence Ross are among the players the Cavaliers have been monitoring as potential trade targets, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
The 29-19 Cavaliers, led by point guard Darius Garland and big men Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, remain firmly in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference, but could use some extra help on the wing. They’re reportedly dangling Ricky Rubio‘s expiring contract and draft assets in trade discussions.
LeVert has been linked to Cleveland several times since word broke in December that the Pacers had made him available, but Gordon and Ross haven’t been mentioned as possibilities for the Cavs nearly as often. Both the Rockets and Magic are believed to be seeking a first-round pick in exchange for their respective wings.
LeVert, Gordon, and Ross are all under contract for at least one more season beyond 2021/22, which perhaps increases their appeal for the Cavs, who wouldn’t want to give up any significant assets for a rental.
Besides those three shooting guards, the Cavs have reached out to the Trail Blazers about Robert Covington, according to Scotto, who says the Timberwolves and Jazz are among the other teams to inquire on the forward. Covington is on an expiring contract and is a bigger wing who doesn’t play the two, so he may not place as high on Cleveland’s list of targets, but it’s worth noting that the team isn’t just looking at guards.
The Cavs also like Nets sharpshooter Joe Harris, says Scotto, but a deadline deal involving Harris seems unlikely. His ongoing recovery from ankle surgery will likely limit what suitors are willing to offer, but Brooklyn wouldn’t want to give him up in a deal that doesn’t include an impact player, per Scotto.
Ricky Rubio, Cedi Osman and a protected first for Caris LeVert and TJ Warren.
Cavs dont just want a SG they are also interested in a forward. They seem willing to give up a first round pick with protections in order to get better now.
Warren is a great buy low and potentially get a great return deal. Especially with a playoff run likely if he can get back to fitness and go bubble mode that could be crazy. If he can’t just as depth he would be handy.
Garland LeVert Okoro Mobley and Allen with a bench of Rondo Warren Markeneen and Love.
Why would anyone give up LaVert and TJ you keep Rubio and send Osman along with 2 1st and 2 2nd round picks
LeVert and Warren are both eye of the beholder players. Not sure Indiana gives both up for one protected first rounder. Maybe Rubio + protected 1st for LeVert
Considering Warren hasn’t played all season and is on an expiring deal they may want to just cash in on him.
Not sure if Cavs would give up Rubio and a first for LeVert although I think it’s a decent deal I’m not sure they would jump at that. But throw in Osman and get back Warren then they would.
Warren could be hit or miss if and when he returns. Could also be worth resigning if they are interested
True – didn’t know Warren was expiring. In that case involving both makes more sense
All of those pieces essentially would be strong fits, but I dont necessarily know how they would get them without giving up certain pieces
Cavs x Bucks for the #4 seed tonite is a must watch …
Those three Gordon($18.2), Lavert($17.5) & Ross, should bring some playoff personality to a young team that might get overawed.
HOU also has D.Nwaba($4.7), J.Tate($1.5), A.Bradley($5.6) and D.Augustin($6.7);
IND also has O.Brissett($1.7), J.Lamb($10.5), T.Craig($4.9) & K.Martin (who may be FA already), and PG Oconnell($7.5, may be 3rd string now).
All 3 article-indicated teams are motivated to trade— bottom of NBA!
(fun facts: Tate & Lavert both went to Pickerington HS, Ohio. Lamb, Brogdon & Cav Goodwin went to Norcross, GA, 3 of 82 NBA players!)
For the Cavs, Osman & Wade are top ten. Osman is moderate but the three article targets have likely peaked. A low first, Osman($8.1(10.1)), Markannon($15.7(19.6)), Okoro($6.7(8.4)), should land something if dangled at all. Markannon has proven he can move value, but a quicker 3 would be better for Cavs.
Levert+Brissett ($19.2) for Okoro+Osman+$1mil.more
Levert+Lamb ($28.0) for Markannon+Osman ($23.8)
Mcdonnell+Brissett ($9.3) for Osman ($8.1)

Martin: sign!
Gordon+Nwaba+Bradley/Augustin ($28.5/29.7) for LM”+CO ($23.8)
Gordon+Tate ($19.7) for LM+first ($15.7)
my brain now tired
I highly doubt Houston trades Tate. They may offer Brooks or someone similar instead. Tate seems to be their future and doubt they will eliminate Green, Tate, KPJ (which I think they should consider moving), and other 2 year or less players. Augustin is another one I am on the fence with about being moved in a trade. I think Gordon, Wall, Wood, Theis, and Nwaba will all be draft picks and/or young player. Any additional player (with either of the 5) on the current Rockets staff, makes zero sense. But then again, they thought parking John Wall all year was “sensible”.
After tonight, I don’t want to see Osman traded anymore! Buck beat-down.
Also, Avery Bradley has aleady moved on, to LAL. Well, about the same matching hit as Augustin, who is getting a lot of minutes.
So Augustin is pretty likable… between the two teams, DJA is the PG who can come down the court with the ball looking like he knows his business.
Okoro isn’t going to get moved for a one year rental. If Sexton doesn’t get moved, Levert most likely isn’t going to get re-signed by the Cavs.
LeVert is worth more than a #1 pick. He’s a nice fit for Cavs. Why would Pacers care about expiring contract. They want picks so they can go rebuild.
