Bucks swingman Donte DiVincenzo has heard his name in trade rumors but he’s not fretting over it, as he told Eric Nehm of The Athletic. DiVincenzo hopes to remain in Milwaukee this season.
“What can you focus on? What can you control? I can control my attitude and my effort every day,” DiVincenzo said. “And those are two things that no matter what, the business side is going to handle itself, I can control the attitude and effort. And if a trade happens? I went through a trade! I experienced that. I’m cool. I want to be here.”
DiVincenzo wasn’t signed to a rookie scale extension during the offseason. He’ll be a restricted free agent this summer.
“I’m not one to focus on what’s four or five months ahead of me,” he said. “If you sit down and focus on coming in every day and focus on what do I have to do today and get better today? Everything else takes care of itself.”
We have more from the Central Division:
- T.J. McConnell had the pin taken out of surgically repaired right wrist but the Pacers guard is “weeks, not days” away from returning, coach Rick Carlisle told James Boyd of the Indianapolis Star (Twitter link). When McConnell underwent hand surgery in early December, the prognosis was that he could be out the rest of the season. There’s still no timetable for Malcolm Brogdon‘s return, Boyd adds in a separate tweet. Brogdon was shut down 10 days ago due to right Achilles soreness.
- Coby White has been showing versatility as the Bulls try to figure out what role he’s best suited for with the current roster, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun Times writes. White isn’t upset about having to switch gears on the fly. “Whatever the team needs me to do,” he said. “My role changes all the time. I’ve just got to adapt and continue to adjust. It’s nothing new for me. I’ve been doing it for awhile. Whatever the team needs I’m down to do whatever.”
- The Cavaliers are not expecting Collin Sexton to return from meniscus surgery this season even though the young guard is optimistic about his recovery, Chris Fedor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer said on the Wine and Gold Podcast (hat tip to HoopsHype). “Everybody that I’ve talked to in the organization, there is nobody that even in their mind once considered the possibility of Collin Sexton returning for the postseason,” Fedor said. Sexton indicated recently he hadn’t ruled out a potential return during the playoffs.
bucks would sweep the playoffs with a decent sg
DDVC was on track to become decent but the ankle injury really threw a wrench into seeing what he would have done this year and also precipitated the signing of Grayson “It was not intentional despite the stupid grin on my face” Allen.
They barely beat a depleted Bulls team and that’s about the only win to speak of the past couple weeks.
What they need is less Giannis playing 1 on 5, less attempted highlight reel passes (that 80% of the time end up as turnovers), and figure out how not to give away 15+ point leads in the 3rd (or 4th, but usually 3rd) quarter.
Coby White is a virtual lock to stay with the Bulls through the season with the injuries to Ball and Caruso, Plus Lavine’s balky knee which also might need some rest here and there. I advocated trading him before, but the best course of action seems to be hold on to him through the season, Then figure out a way to get some front court depth in the summer. The Bulls should actually be a decent option for trades or even a FA if they can afford one depending on how the Lavine saga plays out. I still say he’s a 2, not a real PG. They still are going to have problems against teams with big front courts as they have all season.
Cavs are in a historic position now, able to consider so many that could be successfully integrated in a trade, that would work and benefit the team, without the player having to be that great… average okay… Divincenzio fine… anyone on this page fine… no need for an amazing trade when an easy trade is right there, to fill a variety of gaps. Usually that means the team is losing! An expiring would help.
And unlike since, say, days of Lebron One, when there was nothing to offer another team, in theory there is now.
There are tradable pieces. Markannon is better now that he is less needed… valid as a starter, but his height unneeded now on this team with Love & Mobley there too. Would he still have been acquired if Love were consistant?
Hard for Altman to blow this, but he will probably just stand pat to congratulate himself. They key is stars than can adjust, and not expect praise for regular deeds. DG & EM. (JA celebrates hard but it’s like his hair makes him do it. Also he was a backup.)
Be silly to trade DD when he’s going to get a very affordable deal going into his prime. If Bucks need anything trade the 1st & spare parts to match salary. Might have to trade Lopez if he’s out.
Mark it down. LeBron finishes in Cleveland
