Bulls star Zach LaVine underwent an MRI on Saturday that revealed no structural damage to his left knee, the team announced on social media. LaVine has been dealing with knee soreness and played just over three minutes of the team’s game on Saturday because of it.
His knee has flared up occasionally since undergoing ACL surgery in 2017, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago (Twitter link). The 26-year-old has been playing through soreness these past couple of weeks, but the Bulls have clarified that he isn’t expected to miss significant time due to the injury.
LaVine continues to feel stiffness and will be reevaluated next week, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link), who reports the sides will proceed with caution. He’s averaged 24.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season, shooting 49% from the floor and 41% from deep.
LaVine’s strong play is a major reason why the Bulls are 27-13, good for the best record in the East. Without him, players such as Ayo Dosunmu and Troy Brown Jr. figure to get more playing time.
Anyone else concerned how bad the Warriors look with Klay Thompson and how good they are without him? I’d trade him right now for Lavine
3 games is not much when they won the first one. Being without Green in all 3 games is big since he is their assist leader and the DPOY. Cut down on the turn overs and they win like last night.
Nope!
Noticable limp for klay and definitely struggling with his lateral movement. The warriors lack interior height and scoring especially at the 5. They will go as far as curry’s shooting takes them.
They do lack a enforcer in the middle. Hopefully Wiseman can be healthy enough for them to be the center they are missing.
Chilll, he is obviously forcing shots to get back into rhythm.
He’s limited friend physically. He has a noticable limp. His shot looks smooth to me ,his mechanics sound. Defenses have played him soft in my opinion.
GREAT news! It’s hard to believe he’s only 26, it seems like he’s been in the league for a long time.
That’s about as good as the news could be. Hopefully he’s smarter about it in the future and rests it when he needs to. They have enough firepower to rest him especially when Caruso returns.
Postscript: Also means the Bulls should keep Coby White and not deal him just in case he gets worse and in the eventuality AK decides it’s not worth the risk to Max him out with a knee that flares up. Obviously he shouldn’t play in back to backs for awhile. And if it was sore for a couple of weeks it was a bad idea to try and play 4 games in 5 nights. Hope he told the trainers about it.
I don’t think White get traded and I can see the Bulls looking to move LaVine if they were smart.
Many will disagree but Zach could net you that Starting PF that is needed while you rotate White and others in the SG rotation.
Just my personal opinion and I sure know it will be the least popular one…
I’ve voiced that same possibility and gotten trashed. Whichever way AK decides to go, I’m on board. If they were going to deal him, they should of done it last off season when his value was highest. I know the Kings have wanted him for a long time. In fact the contract he’s playing under was the offer the Kings made when he was a RFA. Bulls matched it.
Good news for my Bulls buddies. I definitely want the Bulls and Bucks at full strength when they start going head to head. First one is 1/21 so he will probably miss that one but the other 3 are in March and April.
Glad to hear Zach is good. But Warriors put a wiping on them. After two blow outs. I think it’s safe to say Bulls not there yet.
They really miss Caruso on D.
