The Pacers are seeking two first-round picks in any deal for Myles Turner, league sources tell Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. According to Scotto, Indiana would also be open to a package that includes a first-rounder and a promising young player.
Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report said last week that the Pacers were expected to seek multiple first-round selections for Turner.
Although the Pacers are open to moving Turner, it makes sense that the team’s asking price would be high. The veteran center, just 25 years old, is a talented interior defender who is leading the NBA in blocks per game (2.8) for the third time in the last four seasons. He can also knock down outside shots (.349 career 3PT%) and doesn’t have an onerous contract (he’s owed $18MM this season and another $18MM in 2022/23).
Of course, there are a lot of variables that will affect the Pacers’ return for Turner. His $18MM salary will need to be matched, so if Indiana takes on an unwanted contract or two in the deal, the team could demand stronger assets. A trade partner would also push to add protections to any first-round picks included in its offer, so the Pacers would have to haggle over those terms.
The Mavericks, Knicks, Lakers, Hornets, Timberwolves, Kings, Trail Blazers, and Raptors have all been previously cited as potential suitors for Turner.
According to Scotto, the Pacers’ asking price for Caris LeVert isn’t too different from the price for Turner — the team is reportedly seeking a first-round pick and a “good young player” in exchange for LeVert.
Both Turner and LeVert will be unrestricted free agents in 2023.
High asking price for a non All Star, but good luck.
He’s not a horrible player and undervalued. He’s not an all star because fans don’t see or think of his name when the all star comes around. This guy is one of the best in the league and hardly gets noticed.
If he was one of the best they most likely wouldn’t be looking to move him. As for looking to get two first round picks, it’s their initial asking price and may get it from a team who thinks they’re just a center away, however his pending free agency and most likely over the top asking price will most likely eliminate quite a few teams. Supply and demand should be interesting.
Defense doesn’t get rewarded in AS votes.
Lakers have 2027 first round pick, Tucker and Nunn to the third team
Third team offers another First
Garbage offer
I mean I don’t see them getting two 1sts. Maybe a 1st and a 2nd or two 2nds. I mean maybe if they are taking back a bad contract it’s two 1sts. They’ve had him on the block for a few years now and never dealt him.
I don’t think the Pacers ever officially started shopping him until recently. A lot of it was just speculation from analysts/writers that the Pacers would have to move one of Turner or Sabonis.
Easily worth it for any sure playoff team. What 20+ 1st picks are going to be better and more impactful than Myles Turner? Larry Nance Jr went for a protected 1st last off-season, it think Turner would be worth 2.
The Wolves and Hornets will be playoff teams or close to it. Top 12 protect the 1st rounders and have Pacers throw in a 2 and done deal.
Circle gets the square
Nice post QB 1
Been clamoring for Cha for quite a while – Plumlee and Ish Smith + 2 protected firsts is a go if Im Cha
Thunder should trade two firsts for him. They have way too many picks.
Those picks will be traded in time and for better/younger assets than Turner.
Like who? Who is this mystery player that they’re hoarding all the picks in order to get? Boston had loads of extra picks and what did they do with them? Drafted a bunch of below average guys who will be out of the league soon. Same with New Orleans. All these picks usually end up wasted. They should get someone who can play so they don’t continue to waste SGA.
“Continue to waste”…lol. He’s 23. Slow down. He took the max KNOWING it’s a rebuild in a small market city. He could have left if he wanted but he didn’t. SGA is perfectly content being part of the rebuild.
As for who Presti trades for. Like I have any idea. Sometimes they work out for us (Clippers fleecing, Westbrook/Rockets Fleecing) and sometimes they don’t (Carmelo, Perkins, getting PG13 since we gave up Domatas). My guess is draft day you’ll see some moves to move up the board if the price is right.
With a young core of SGA, Giddy, Wiggins, Dort, so far I am happy with Presti’s moves and picks. They’re extremely young but already showing promise.
Forgot to add our worst trade ever…giving up Harden instead of Westbrook. Ouch….had the foresight to see he was an elite player but unfortunately kept the wrong one.
I can see Dallas sending their 2025 1st, hardway Jr (someone carlise likes) and mosses brown. Hardaway can also fill the void of caris levert if the pacers trade him
They can do better than that. Dallas wont get him.
I think on the right team he could be a high volume scorer too, but that team isn’t going to the playoffs.
Two firsts is high but that’s also a good contract, probably 2 late picks, and he’s no Drummond.
Sounds like 2 late round picks. Problem is which team needs a defensive center that much?
Charlotte
Warriors
I mean if they want two firsts, the Grizz have 3, but you’d probably have to send Steven Adams to another team
No surprise that IND would seek that, but I doubt they get it without some other concession on their end. Turner does two things at an elite level (shot blocking and 3 pt shooting), and both are premium skills and hard to find together. But he really does little else well. I think a team that needs a a rim protector, and has a bad contract to send back, could justify sending two protected 1st’s to IND.
Brook Lopez, a 1st, a 2nd and the remainder of Larry Sanders and Jon Leuer’s contracts for Turner.
A- You can’t trade Larry and Jons salary
B- You dont have a first left
Warriors. Moody and a 2nd
That’s awful. Stop it
